Captain & Chef SY AKASHA

Harvey Rogers (39) from Gloucestershire, England, has been a keen sailor from a young age. After achieving a bachelor degree in marketing Harvey managed restaurants, food export, and was an area manager in the retail sector before leaving the UK to follow a passion for the Ocean. Teaching diving and sailing led Harvey through Thailand, Egypt, The Maldives, Bermuda and to the Eastern Caribbean where he and Cara decided to combine their loves of sailing, cuisine and diving to become a professional captain and chef team. Harvey is a fully qualified MCA/RYA Ocean Master.

Cara Lillis-James, (28) also from England, completed a Performing arts Degree in London followed by an English teaching qualification in Egypt. Cara settled into a culinary career, training at Ashburton School of cookery and the prestigious Ritz Hotel in Paris. Her passion for originality, combined with French training, produces astounding culinary masterpieces. Her combined loves for the water and the culinary world make her an ideal yacht chef.

AKASHA Testimonials

A group of friends from Germany, sailing St Maarten, St Barths & Anguilla  November 2012:

Out of 3 charters in The Caribbean this one was the best.  We sailed, snorkelled, SCUBA dived and water skied (at least we tried).  But best of all was the crew!  Thanks to Harvey, Cara, CJ and Kim.  You did a great job.

Henning, Gunther, Jurgen and Jan

A family group from the USA, sailing St Maarten, Anguilla, St Barths & Saba November 2012:

Dear Akasha Crew

Thanks for a wonderful week!  God bless ‘Mama’s Special Juice’ so I could enjoy the ride.  All of you were so lovely and helpful.  Don’t think I will ever forget Cap Harvey saying “Backwards Sailing” with such kindness
J  Enjoy the rest of your travels and perhaps our paths will cross again.

Heather

Thanks for a great trip, it’s one I won’t soon forget.  The service was superb, and I thank Rabbit for providing delicious meals with such limits on her.  Let us know if you are ever in NW USA.

Mikker

What a pleasure to see two worlds at once, the islands and the ocean, all while being treated like royalty.  For a brief while I will have the treats on our bed to remind me of how good Rabbits’ cooking was and photos and video recalling the wonderful dives Kim and CJ took us on.  From now on I will seek to have some of Harveys unending patience and good humor at every tribulation coming his way.  Thank you

Maria

Thanks for a great week of SCUBA, gluten free delicacies, sailing, and stories from South Africa, Thailand et al.  Have a great year ahead.

Mike

Many thoughts but few words.  You took great care of my family.  I am sure we will all have fond memories.  We will tell stories long into the future.  Take great care in the future.

Mike

What an amazing week, thanks for all the great times you shared with us, as well as taking care of our gluten/dairy/soy free customers.  I look forward to making it back in the future.

Brian

A group of friends from the UK,  sailing St. Kitts, St. Barths, Anguilla & BVI, December 2012

You have given us many special memories to take home that we will cherish forever.  Our first trip to the BVIs - it was all that we had hoped and more!  Harvey, your highly competent, calm and skilful handling of Akasha was a treat to behold.  Thank you Rabbit for the delicious and creative meals.  Kim - you are magic!  How you manage us and all our things is amazing.  CJ - Thank you for giving us wonderful experiences - fishing for ‘heads’ and glorious snorkelling.  Safe travels.

Christopher and Amy

Dear Harvey, Rabbit, CJ and Kim

Thank you so much for such an incredible week!  I never want to leave paradise!  The food, island hopping, sailing and everything else in between was absolutely amazing.  THANK YOU!  All the best!

Sophie

A great big THANK YOU to you all.  This was without doubt a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience, made so by your subtle attentions.  What a super job you do.  Good luck to all of you for the future - it’s looking good.
