Akasha has a permanent crew of four to ensure that your every need is attended to. Our crew work on a rolling scheme with the Captain and Chef rotating every four months (hence the 6 crew members introduced here).

Chris and Jo

After leaving the corporate world and extensive traveling, Chris and Jo have been chartering in the Caribbean since 2000.  They are keen to share with you their love of the islands, and stories of their travels.  This adventurous, fun loving couple combines their talent and experience to create an unforgettable sailing vacation for their guests, of all ages.

They specialize in finding those secluded anchorages, deserted beaches, azure snorkel sites, party bars and beautiful sunsets that will make your vacation more then you ever dreamed of.

Chris uses the skills and experience gained throughout his long sailing career to achieve the highest standards in the industry.  He holds a Royal Yachting Association Ocean Yachtmaster certificate and is also a PADI Divemaster. 

A Water sports fanatic, Chris loves to Sail, Windsurf, Wakeboard, Dive and Fish, and will be glad to help you learn or enhance your skills.  His Celestial Navigation lessons are not to be missed!

Jo is from Kent in England, and after Chris introduced her to his passion for sailing she traveled around Australia completing numerous races and events along the East coast.

Jo’s abilities as chef are influenced by the many cultures she has experienced.  She continues to refine her skills at every opportunity, completing various culinary classes with some of the countries top chefs. 

During your stay Jo will delight you with her delicious gourmet cuisine from every corner of the globe, and with her good humour and high standard of excellence, she will make your time aboard Akasha the vacation of a lifetime.

Brett and Ronnie

Brett is a born and raised Englishman. A commercially endorsed Ocean master with years of experience and ten’s of thousands of sea miles, he is a very capable captain who is meticulous in ensuring an enjoyable and safe vacation.
 
Whatever you wish for remote beaches, breath-taking snorkeling, or the perfect anchorage Brett will sit down and tailor an itinerary which is sewn together with the type of sailing that you enjoy.

Whilst sailing you can sit back and relax; cruising by the Islands, or if you wish, under Brett’s expert tuition you can help sail Akasha, revealing some of mysteries of navigation at sea.

Brett has a warm and friendly character and a great sense of humor; he loves making your favorite cocktail at the ships bar.  His own experiences and knowledge of maritime history makes great and interesting conversation.

Veronica, also from England, from an early age was passionate about sailing and food. Having studied at Le Cordon Blue and bringing together a wide range of cuisines she selects the best local produce to create tantalizing cuisine.     She can customize your menu according to your taste and any dietary requirements and if you would like will also create a special children’s menu.

From airport transfers to a beach picnic she will ensure a stress free, smooth running holiday with the only decision you have to make being whether to swim or sun-bathe.  You will feel at ease with her jovial and gracious personality, and will surely enjoy her fine cuisine! 

Brett and Veronica make a charming, enthusiastic and experienced team.  They have worked together on yachts throughout the Caribbean and Mediterranean for the past seven years.

Arnold and Rica

From a very young age, Arnold knew he would make a career out of seafaring.
His love of the ocean comes from his Dad who was a fisherman and businessman on the West Coast of South Africa.  Arnold grew up on boats and after school pursued a career as a NAUI Dive Instructor.  He started sailing at a young age and completed two Atlantic Ocean crossings, gaining valuable sea miles and knowledge.  He has been diving all over Southern Africa, the Caribbean, Rhode Island and Florida.  He has extended experience in making diving, fishing and water sports enjoyable and fun for the novice as well as for the advanced.

Arnold holds a RYA Day Skipper ticket and is NAUI as well as a PADI Dive Instructor.  His enthusiasm, experience and easy personality will add up to an unforgettable vacation aboard Akasha.

After completing her studies in 2002 in South Africa, Rica worked as a Beauty Therapist on cruise liners and private motor yachts including two years at a prestige spa in the UK.  Her professionalism and gentle personality ensure that you can look forward to special treatment aboard Akasha.  Her love for the sea is shared by all her family members, with whom she has enjoyed sailing the Greek Islands on yachts skippered by her Dad.
