Refit/Maintenance Details
2011/12 20 year ABS Survey performed at Rybovich Shipyard. Numerous mechanical and aesthetic work.
Antara underwent an extensive refit at Perini Navi Viareggio Winter 2006/7 to "better than new" condition with new teak decks, topside and superstructure paint, new sails, extended flybridge/large jacuzzi and sun cushions, barbecue and new aft swim platform. Also, new furniture, mattresses, upholstery and decor including marble top bar in Dining Salon and Exercise area in Master Stateroom Office. State of the art Kaleidescape Audio Visual system throughout and in Aft cockpit al fresco cinema, VSat, wifi throughout.
Underwater lights illuminate her beautifully at night.

1. Captain: Joseph Barnaby Gadsby "Barney"

Age: 32

Nationality: British

After spending 4 years aboard the 50 meter Perini Navi(s) ...Is A Rose and S/Y Phyrne, 2 years aboard Antara as Mate and 2 years aboard Hyperion, Barney is an MCA approved Captain and has taken over command of Antara.

Barney has a depth of understanding of Perini Navi sailing boats that only comes from spending time onboard and years under sail.  Having circumnavigated the globe on the 50 meter ketch, Phryne, he is obviously enjoying his environment as Antara is his third Perini Navi.

Barney has been a wilderness/multiactivity instructor both in the US and UK.  With this background devoted to outdoor activities and water sports, particularly diving, he will see you safe in any endeavor you may undertake on the water.  When on vacation Barney enjoys traveling , having traveled widely, including the third world, sailing, mountain walking, climbing, fishing, swimming, music and landscape photography.







2. Chef: Melanie Smith

Nationality: American

Previously aboard a 110’ private sailing yacht based in the Med and US provisioning and cooking for the owner and his guests.

 



3. First Mate: Oliver Outram

Nationality: British

Age: 27

Olly comes from South East England and has grown up in and around the water. At university he studied Outdoor Adventure Management whilst working for a yacht brokerage on the Hamble.  From there he completed his Yachtmaster and spent two years instructing sailing in the Gibraltar Straits before his move to superyachts. A selection of large yachts, including a year racing with the J-Class Ranger, provided excellent experience in order to complete his Chief Mate ticket before joining Antara.

 

 

4. Chief Stewardess: Lenka Senkyrikova

Age: 35

Nationality: Czech/Australian

Lenka was born and raised in Czech-Republic, where her lifestyle consisted of many hours of snowboarding, skiing and hiking, and when near to the coast her hobbies extended to sailing, wake boarding and kite-surfing.

Lenka started her hospitality career working on a charter plane for 6 years as an air-hostess.  She then moved to the UK where she worked in numerous restaurants as a waitress.  During the winter seasons in the Alps, France, Lenka worked in very high profile Chalets as a Chalet host for 2 seasons.  Due to Lenka’s passion for traveling she then moved on to sailing where she has now been working in the yachting industry going onto 5 years.  Lenka worked on a very high profile sailing yachts, including Artemis as chief stewardess.  Lenka will be on hand to ensure that you have a comfortable and mostly enjoyable stay on board ANTARA.

 

  

5. Deckhand: Tom Fox

Age: 25:

Languages: Speaks basic Italian; moderate/good Spanish.

From a young age Tom took an interest in sailing and navigation and began sailing at his local sailing club.  After completing a Zoology degree, and having extensive experience with sailboats, Tom decided to take his STWC'95 and progress to working in the yachting industry.  He has extensive experience driving tenders and ribs and is confident in his role aboard.  To relax, he keeps fit by climbing and boxing, and is very physically active.  He also enjoys sketching and painting and is passionate about art.







6. Chief Engineer: Tom Masterson

Age: 40

Nationality:  Australian

Yacht 4 Chief Engineer Reg III/3 certificate of competency

Certificate in Marine Mechanics trade with distinction, SIT 1993

Statement of Attainment in Automotive Diesel, SIT 1994

PADI Advanced scuba diver

Seatel series 07 Broadband at Sea Operator/Technician

 

Tom is a highly recommended and sought after yacht engineer due to his attention to detail and high standards and nice personality.  He has been the sole engineer onboard a high performance cruiser/racer 38m Perini Navi with owner cruises, regattas and charter.  He also served as temporary 2^nd Engineer aboard the Perini Navi 50m SY Perseus.  Additional experience includes the Perini’s Galaxia and Independence as well as providing relief work aboard 78m Lurrsen, 37m Heesen, 56m Oceanfast and 39m triple masted schooner.

Tom will keep the systems onboard running smoothly.

 

 

7. 2^nd Stewardess: Neave Richards

Age:  28

Nationality:  Australian

Neave is an exceptional stew and a huge asset to Antara.  Growing up in a snall coastal town in Western Australia, she spent most of her days at the beach swimming, boating and fishing.  Her love for the ocean and travel drew her to yachting and she has been in the industry for 5 years.  Previously aboard impressive yachts: 120m SY Athena, 53m La Mirage and most recently a 50m Perini cruising the Caribbean, Mediterranean and South Pacific via the Panama Canal and Galapagos.  Apart from yachting Neave enjoys music, yoga, snorkeling, hiking and travel.







8. Bosun/2^nd Engineer: Trent Hadler

Age: 29

Nationality:  Australian

Trent has a lot of previous experience as second engineer and wishes to pursue this as his main career, he has worked extensively in refrigeration systems and is also a qualified plumber.

 

 

9. Stewardess: Leslie Nunes

Age: 24

Nationality: Canadian

Languages: Fluent in French, speaks Arabic.
