No. Crew: 8Captain's Name: Robert Johnston

Crew Profile
Antara's very experienced and professional crew will take great care of your clients.

1. Captain: Robert (Johnno) Johnston
Age: 49
Nationality: British
Johnno is a very experienced, professional and personable charter captain. Johnno has been onboard Antara since December 2005 cruising both the Mediterranean including Croatia and the Greek isles and Caribbean. His previous command was aboard SY Mirabella V.
When not sailing, Johnno can be enjoying playing soccer, biking, or perhaps participating in the Speights Coast to Coast, the first multisport race in the world that traverses the South Island of New Zealand. He is also a gifted singer and guitarist but is so shy we never hear him play!

2. First Mate: Joseph Barnaby Gadsby "Barney"
Age: 28
Nationality: British
After spending 4 years aboard the 50 meter Perini Navis ...Is A Rose and SY Phyrne, Barney is an MCA approved ‘Officer of the Watch’.
Barney has a depth of understanding of Perini Navi sailing boats that only comes from spending time onboard and years under sail. Having circumnavigated the globe on the 50 meter ketch, Phryne, he is obviously enjoying his environment as Antara is his third Perini Navi.
Barney has been a wilderness/multiactivity instructor both in the US and UK. With this background devoted to outdoor activities and water sports, particularly Diving, along with Nick and Matteo, he will see you safe in any endeavor you may undertake on the water.  He is a most capable second in command. When on vacation Barney enjoys traveling , having traveled widely, including the third world, sailing, mountain walking, climbing, fishing, swimming, music and landscape photography.

3. Chef: Jana Kruta
Nationality: Slovakian
Age: 38
A recommendation from a trusted big boat skipper had me knocking on Jana’s door to join Antara as our Chef. Fortunately, Miss Kruta was up for the challenge and it is wonderful that she joined us. In her 10 years onboard yachts, Jana has spent over 3 years aboard the 40 meter, Alloy sailing yacht ‘Destination Fox Harbor’, working for 2 different Captains. In between stints onboard, Jana completed a 4 month course at the ‘New Zealand School of Food and Wine’. On top of all this Jana has managed to sail across the Pacific three times !  When asked about her favourite food style she is a touch unwilling to tie herself to any particular region. After much pleading, she did commit to enjoying the Mediterranean’s fresh, light, flavourful style and added that Asian ingredients get her creative juices flowing.
Jana will leave you feeling very satisfied and highly impressed.

4. Chief Stewardess: Jenny Burgess
Age:28
Nationality: British
Jenny joined Antara in the spring of 2008 and has been enjoying a busy New England Summer season.
Jennifer has honed her skills on a variety of vessels. Her sailing world began on Mirabella V and she progressed to be Chief Stewardess on Mirabella III. Jennifer then tried her hand on a few motor yachts, the more notable being the beautiful, 55 meter, ‘Charade’, where she was Chief Stewardess before coming to join Antara.

Crew Profile

We are most fortunate to have Jen, and her bubbly personality, onboard. She will make you feel most welcome.
If you would like a running partner to keep you company then look no further than Jennifer. When on vacation Jenny can be found running marathons.

5. Bosun/Deckhand: Nick Ackroyd
Age:24
Nationality: Australian
Nick joined Antara in June 2007. His previous experience included the 56m Perini SY Santa Maria and SY Mirabella V. In a past life, in Australia, Nick was a tennis coach and if this is your game, we have the opponent for you. Nick joined Antara during the refit in Viareggio, Italy. This period of time allowed him to become very familiar with the boat, even before we set sail. Nick, along with the rest of the deck crew, keeps Antara running smoothly and looking exceptional. He has a ‘fair bit’ of big boat experience to draw from (having been in the Perini family prior to joining Antara) and fully understands the demands and requirements of a ‘Super Yacht’.

6. Engineer: Phillip Drew
Age: 37
Nationality: UK
Phil joined us in September 2008. Phil is no stranger to Antara, or Perini Navi sailing yachts for that matter, having worked extensively with us during the re-fit in Viareggio in 2006. He has an excellent knowledge of our engineering. Other Perini Navis’ that have had the benefit of Phil’s experience include Enterprise, Morning Glory, Ellen V (ex.Lady Lauren) and Andromeda La Dea. Phil’s background in the UK is with nuclear power-plants. This is an area where precision is mandatory and his eye for detail is rather precise. He is an excellent addition to the crew and will very capably fill the large shoes left by his predecessor. Phil is an avid adventurer and his stories of Antarctica will, hopefully, entertain.

6a. Relief Engineer: Jolyon Brayton-Sewell
Age: 34
Nationality: UK

7. Stewardess: Sussie Laity
Age: 21
Nationality: British
A recent graduate of the University of Southampton, Susie decided that her horizons needed broadening and so she set herself the goal of joining the yachting world and going places. There is no shortage of determination in Miss Laity. Having grown up around the water, in her native Cornwall, and having raced dinghys all over the UK, there is little she will not conquer once her mind is set on a challenge. It is always a pleasure having enthusiastic crew onboard and you will notice that, similar to Matteo, this enthusiasm is quite catchy. Susie's happy smile and sweet disposition will make you smile when you meet her. She is a happy and hard worker helping Jenny keep everything clean and tidy onboard and to ensure everything is perfect for Antara's guests.

8. Deckhand: Matteo Marelli
Age:26
Nationality: Italian                                     Languages: Italian and English.
Matteo has been aboard Antara since June of 2006 joining her in Viareggio during her refit at the Perini Navi yard. He has cruised with Antara throughout the Med and Caribbean in 2007. His enthusiasm for this seafaring life style is a joy to watch and is very contagious. Nothing is taken for granted, every landfall we make and every culture we touch is exciting & new to Matteo. You will find yourself looking upon the waves, birds, beaches and even the sky with a re-kindled and fresh appreciation. He took to ‘rope work’ with a passion and all the fancy mats, rope ladders and most of the splicing you see around the boat was produced by Matteo.

8a. Relief Dechand: Charles Livingston

Age: 40

Nationality: US
