Crew Profile

Captain | Peter Martin | South Africa
Peter is well known from the charter yacht UNFORGETTABLE where he was Captain for over 7 years. He did have a brief break from the yacht when he had the pleasure of being the build Captain on the 132' Broward named SERQUE. Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, he spent his vacations on the Cape where he found his love for the ocean. After working in the service industry during his early years, he quickly found himself in management positions. Having managed many successful nightclubs and restaurants he finally opened his own Portuguese restaurant with a childhood friend. After four years of the restaurant business he moved to Florida where he discovered the yachting industry. For the last 12+ years he has traveled extensively on the East coast of the US, Bahamas and Caribbean. He is very competent and enthusiastic and loves utilizing his hospitality background on charters. Peter is currently completing his Master 3000-ton license with the MCA.

First Officer | Wikus Botes | South Africa

Wikus grew up in the city of Pretoria, South Africa. He played professional rugby for many different teams while studying Marketing at Tuks University.
After seven years, his career in rugby came to a sudden end due to an injury, which brought him to yachting in 2012.
Wikus is a certified Dive Master and Instructor, who also loves to wakeboard, paddle board and fish.
He is currently working towards his OOW 3000 and is always striving to further his knowledge and skill set.
Wikus has an easy-going personality and with such a wide set of skills, is sure to make your stay on Arioso one to remember.

Engineer | Calvin Whitehouse | United States
Calvin was born in Sugar Land Texas and raised to be a southern gentleman. He joined the U.S. Navy, looking to travel and gain tacit knowledge. He was an engineer aboard the USS Frank Cable (AS-40). His primary mission was to repair the nuclear submarines wherever they may be.
Calvin began researching where he could put his skills to use, after he was honorably discharged from the navy. With his desire to travel and his naval engineering background he knew yachting would be a perfect fit.
In a year and a half, Calvin had received his AEC, QMED and submitted for his DDE 4000 engineering license. He hopes to be the Chief Engineer aboard a 200+ft yacht in the future. His hobbies consist of slalom water skiing, fishing, surfing and fine dining. Calvin is a great asset and endeavors to maintain ARIOSO to provide you an unforgettable vacation.

Chef | Jerry Pond | United States

Jerry, a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, has moved quickly through the ranks of the food service industry. Capitalizing on not just his baking and cooking skills, but also his managerial abilities, Jerry relocated from Boston to Fort Lauderdale over ten years ago to open the successful and award winning Stork's Bakery. Prior to joining the crew of ARIOSO, Jerry was onboard the popular charter yacht UNFORGETTABLE, and prior to that he was operating as a freelance restaurant consultant in South Florida. Bringing his expansive skill set into the world of yachting presented him with yet another unique career opportunity: a perfect environment to showcase his talents and love of all things culinary on an intimate and personal level. A self-professed "food nerd," he takes special delight in introducing guests to new cuisines and the reinvention of familiar ones. Jerry placed 1st in the 101'-160' yacht division Concours de Chef Contest in Antigua 2012.

Chief Stewardess | Bronwyn Martin | South Africa
Born and raised on the Wild Coast of South Africa, Bronwyn always had a passion for the open seas. In 2008 Bronwyn entered yachting and most of her experience ranges from 50m to 88m yachts. Bronwyn holds her "Medical Persons Onboard" and "Medical Person In Charge" certificate and is well qualified in service skills, bar-tending, event organizing and catering to all the guests needs. Bronwyn led her team to win the Antigua “Table Setting” contest in 2012, competing with vessels ranging from 100ft to 160ft. Creating good memories and designing fantastic theme evenings for guests to enjoy is the best part of yachting for her. Bronwyn is an amateur horticulturist with a penchant for flower arranging. She dreams of one day opening her own florist shop in South Africa to continue bringing joy to people. Bronwyn also enjoys reading, scuba diving and painting in her free time. With Bronwyn's friendly personality, ARIOSO'S guests are sure to be happy and smiling throughout their charter.

Second Stewardess | Rhia Hobbs | Australia
Rhia was brought up on the beautiful eastern beaches of Sydney, where a natural love for the ocean was instilled in her at a young age. She is a certified pre-school teacher who loves children but needed the urge to see the world before settling down permanently.
Rhia spent 8 months as a travel agent for Flight center however her yearning to travel bought her to yachting in 2013. Her experience ranges on yachts from 40 to 50 meters traveling the Mediterranean, Caribbean and East coast of the USA.
Rhia is a hippie at heart who loves animals, yoga and anything nature! Her fun loving personality and eagerness to help will ensure your trip onboard Arioso will be one to remember.

Deck Stewardess | Mackenzie Sedelbauer | United States
MacKenzie was born in Michigan but has spent the majority of her life living in Asheville, NC, which she now considers to be home. Although she loves the arts, beer, and music Asheville has to offer, it was time to travel. She moved to South Florida to attend the University of Miami, graduating with a major in Political Science and Public Relations. After finishing her studies, Mackenzie moved back to North Carolina to begin her career in advertising. She accepted her first job as a project manager at an advertising agency called Element Advertising. After leaving her position at the agency, she began her career in yachting. With over 8 years of restaurant and hospitality experience, MacKenzie quickly transitioned into her stewardess role. She thoroughly enjoys interacting with guests and providing the best service. Dear Peter and all of the Arioso crew,

Well, I would like to say that this is one of the most glowing references I have heard from a client.  A++, best crew best boat they have ever had, “the food was amazing, healthy, excellent presentation, the crew got on so well and anticipated our needs, we didn’t want to leave and cried when we said goodbye, my birthday was one surprise after another and the champagne and card at the spa was so special, when we got back to the boat it was decorated to the hilt, the dinner, cake...”  Seriously, we spoke for 15 minutes and she just could not say enough about how wonderful this best trip ever was for them!  I do believe you will see them again.

WELL DONE to you Peter for finding and keeping a crew that works together and also to your crew for taking such good care of them!!!!!!!!!! Another comment the client made was “the crew love what they do”.  I so wish every charter received half the accolades.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.
