ATLANTICA Crew Profile
Captain – Paul Knox - USA
Paul grew up in upstate New York and began yachting in Michigan in 1986 after serving 9 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He has served as Captain on various yachts over the past 25 years. Paul took a short break from the warm tropical waters of yachting in 1993 and served as Chief Mate aboard a Bering Sea commercial longliner in Alaska. He enjoys helping guests take in breathtaking views and magnificent holidays throughout the world. Paul, his wife Lo-ami and new son Pieter split their home time between Pompano Beach FL, Statesboro GA and Kareehoek, South Africa.
Mate – Chris Hill - USA
Although born in San Francisco, CA, Chris grew up in Florida in a boating family, where his father was a Captain, and the family spent many years cruising and living aboard their own boats. Chris learned early in life how to work around a boat, including gathering the mechanical, deck, and operating skills that are required of a good Mate. Chris has experience working on yachts from 50 to 171 ft, cruising Alaska, Costa Rica, Bahamas and the Caribbean. In search of a more diverse daily routine, and to gain more engineering knowledge, Chris has joined Atlantica to strengthen its deck department, and to participate in all other aspects of yacht operations, learning the ropes, in hopes of ultimately taking the helm himself to Captain a yacht, following in his father’s footsteps. Chris looks forward to taking guests fishing, diving, and on other excursions from Atlantica.
Deckhand – Joe Hoyt -USA
Having been raised in Reno, Nevada, Joe has only recently discovered his love of the ocean. After spending his childhood sailing on lakes and down rivers, an opportunity arose to join this industry. Joe jumped at the chance to travel and work aboard yachts and has had an enjoyable, exciting start to what could eventually become a long career on yachts.
Engineer - Christian Hollingsworth - USA
Christian spent his youth sailing with his family in Louisiana which lead him to become a sailing instructor. This love of boating brought him to the yachting industry. After working on a few yachts he took positions on two tall ships as engineer. After the tall ships Christian has settled back into motor yachts and is currently acquiring time and service towards his engineering license.
Chief Stewardess – Hayley Smith - United Kingdom
Hayley left England 7 years ago to pursue her career in yachting. She was brought up in a household with Dad as a chef. Hayley chose to follow her family background in restaurant hospitality and seek new thrills from around the globe in yachting. She has served on a number of yachts large and small and enjoys the creativity in her role as Chief Stewardess.
