PATRICK DEGRANGE
Patrick is a capable captain, 44 y.o. born in Saint Etienne, France, he is fully qualified by both formal training and experience, Patrick holds a French PPV patron plaisance voile since 1984.
Patrick began sailing as a youth on the waters of beautiful “Cote D’Azur” when he was only thirteen, he combined his love of boats, an innate mechanical ability and an exceptional idustriousness to became the caretaker of a Rober Perry 44’.
Since graduating, Patrick has travelled, sailing, the Med and the Caribbean, many Atlantic crossing, with his own boat and as captain on charter boat to delivery for the Moorings Ltd, from La Rochelle to the Caribbean.
When he landed in Venezuela it was seventeen years ago!
Patrick has sailed extensively all around the Caribbean but he was flashed up for the beauty of the Venezuelan Islands of Los Roques and Las Aves and he started working on Spirit Of Obsession a Kaufman 55’ fully licensed to do charter in Venezuelan waters as well in the Natural Park of Archipelago de Los Roques.
On board of Spirit he has spent 5 seasons along the Venezuela, mostly exploring and looking for ship wrecks in Las Aves. Patrick also love to cook, he combines his acknowledge from French coocking “culture” and the Carribbean, Creole style, he loves sushi and fresh fish carpaccio ( also Lobster’s carpaccio ) with italian olive oil and limes and salt and pepper… delicious!
Since 2000 he has been appointed captain of Balindo, probably the best charter boat available in Los Roques. Patrick enjoys sailing, fishing, diving, kayaking, kite-surfing, reading and cooking!
Patrick speaks fluently French, Spanish, Italian and scholastic English.
The Balindo crew is completed by Pedro, a local fisherman/deckhand, his knowledge of the area and his enjoyment of fishing and watersport will shine through in the eager way ! A young hostess, local girl, for the duration of your trip,will spoil you with her attention to your every need.
