Crew Profile
Captain – Simon Whitehead
Captain Simon was born in 1967 and is a British national. He holds a MCA Class 4 for deck and Yacht Building City & Guilds Certificate. He also holds D.A.N. Instructor (marine injury and medical), Diving IANTD Recreational Trimix Instructor, Diving IANTD Technical Diver, Diving IANTD Trimix Blender and USHGA Paragliding P3 certificates.
Simon was a shipwright at Hayling Yacht Co and then at Camper & Nicholsons from 1984 to 1991. Then he joined the largest sailing yachts; S/Y Creole, S/Y Philander, S/Y Liberty, S/Y Georgie & M/Y Vita and he sailed thousands of miles all around the world. He has cruised the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Atlantic, Pacific, Indian and the coast of the United States up past Nova Scotia and in to the Bay of Saint Lawrence. Prior to S/Y Baracuda Simon has worked for the same Yacht Owner for 10 years looking after his yachts from the largest sloop in the world through to build projects. He has also attended some of the classic and largest yacht regattas including Saint Barth’s bucket, Perini Cups, Atlantic rally etc. He enjoys technical diving, paraglide and skiing.
Simon is very experienced in sailing and your clients will live an incredible experience onboard S/Y Baracuda.
Chief Officer – Andrea Boero
Andrea was born in 1971 and is an Italian national. He holds the following certificates: IMO – Commercial Master 5000 tons Unlimited, C.E.C – MCA – 5000tons, ISM - Certificate Audit, ISPS – Certificate Audit, Dynamic Positioning Certificate- IMO Compliant, Business and Law Certificate – MCA, Fire Fighting Courses: Basic & Advanced IMO STCW ’95, Survival & Rescue Training Course, IMO STCW ’95, Radar Base STCW ’95, Radar ARPA STCW ’95, Radar ARPA/SAR STCW ’95. GMDSS G.O.C. Certificate First Aid Certificate, Medical Care on board ships MCA Medical Certificate & Master of Yacht Unlimited (Italian flag vessels). He has worked on many motor yachts and sailing yachts since 1993 including many Perini Navi yachts; S/Y Liberty, S/Y Paz, S/Y Selene, S/Y Ohana & S/Y Tamsen as well as J Class Candida and he has gained a lot of experience over the years. He has cruised in Mediterranean, Caribbean, South Pacific and West Africa. He speaks fluent English and Spanish. He enjoys water sports.
Engineer – Steffen Deutschmann
Stephen was born in 1968 and is a German national. He has studied at Technological Navy School Kiel and he holds a Chief Engineer licence as well as a Ships electrician. He has worked in German navy as an electrical engineer on submarines and mine sweepers. He joined yachting in 2000 and he has worked on various motor and sailing yachts such as S/Y Lili, M/Y Sunshine of Spain, S/Y Ifalik, M/Y Wheels, M/Y Kam Axitha, S/Y Paz, M/Y Latitude, M/Y Turquoise and M/Y 4 You. He speaks English, Spanish and Italian. Stephen’s hobbies include underwater sports and has plans for a long career in sailing yachts.
Chef – Catherine Landry
Catherine was born in 1984 and is a Canadian national. She has studied in Ashburton, England Cookery School. She has worked for several years in the hospitality industry before entering the yachting industry. She has worked on M/Y Renata, Constellation, Smooth Operator, Mariposa & William Tai. She is very creative Chef and she can satisfy the most demanding guests. She is experienced in Mediterranean and International cuisine as well. She speaks fluent French and basic Spanish. She enjoys travelling and reading.
Chief Stewardess – Martine Jacques
Martine was born in 1981 and is an Australian national. She has attended Silver Service & Wine courses and she holds Radio/DCS Licence, Sea Survival, Senior First Aid, Rescue PADI Diving, STCW’95 and Eng 1 Medical certificates. She has worked in various restaurants and chalets before she joined the yachting in 2003. She has been onboard Baracuda since 2009. Martine is an experienced, reliable and self motivated crew member and has established herself aboard BARACUDA as a valuable and key crew member. She has excellent public relations, which makes her very hospitable when she is among guests and she uses her own initiative. She will ensure that the interior of the yacht and all its details are taken care of while lending a ready hand on the deck and is always delighted to offer a high end service on board S/Y Baracuda. She speaks conversational Spanish. She enjoys cooking, surfing, diving, wakeboarding and travelling.
Stewardess – Holly Alexandra Springham
Holly was born in 1981 and is a Scottish national. She holds a Bachelor diploma in Textiles and Fashion Design Management. Also, she holds ENG-1, STCW, Power Boat Level 2, Day Skipper and Competent Crew certificates. She has worked as an interior designer, event organiser & manager and in the hospitality industry. However she has always been interested in the yachting industry; sailing from a young age and crewing on friends and family’s boats. She joined yachting in 2010 and she has worked on various motor yachts; M/Y Aphrodite, M/Y Sokar, M/Y Force India, M/Y Ann G, M/Y Mary Jean II and M/Y Dream. Holly is a dynamic, well presented individual with a creative and professional approach to her work. She speaks French conversational and basic Spanish. She enjoys all types of outdoor pursuits including sailing, snowboarding and biking and she is passionate about art, design and fashion.

Bosun – Daniel Northall
Daniel was born in 1986, an English national. He holds a Commercialy Endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore Sail Certification as well as STCW 95, PADI Open Water, City and Guilds Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery & VHF certifications. From 2004 to 2008 he did his Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship at S. Robinson and Associates and he worked as a carpenter at Classic Yacht Shipwright where he took part on the refits of Ranger, Antares and Aphrodite. Also, from 2008 to 2010 he was in the race team of S/Y Marigan and S/Y Avel for the classic regattas around Balearic Islands, SOF and Palmavela regattas and he worked onboard Creole as carpenter during the winter and deckhand during the summer season. From 2010 until 2012 he worked as 1st mate on S/Y Aeolian, he was skipper on S/Y Alpair and bosun for a shipyard period, shipwright for the season & bowman whilst sailing on S/Y Germania Nova. Daniel has lot of experience and skills in various aspects of deck maintenance and sailing and he is definitely an asset to S/Y Baracuda. He speaks fluent Spanish and he enjoys diving and snowboarding.

BARACUDA VALLETTA Accommodations
BARACUDA VALLETTA can accommodate 10 guests in 5 cabins.
The Master cabin has a king size bed, shower and toilet.
2 VIP cabins have a queen size bed, shower and toilet.
2 Guest cabins have a twin bed, shower and toilet.
BARACUDA VALLETTA
is fully air conditioned through out.
This is a non-smoking vessel.
No smoking is permitted inside the yacht.
BARACUDA VALLETTA´s crew has a separate heads and shower.
Guests are not allowed to bring pets onboard.
