BIG ZIP 142 Crew Profile
Eric and the BIG ZIP team will exceed your expectations for a remarkable luxury yacht charter.
Crew Complement: 8 | Rendezvous diving only
CAPTAIN Eric Yeager (American / Chilean)
Growing up in a dual cultural family in the western United States and Chile, English and Spanish lifestyles were equally influential in Eric’s life. His family history dates back to San Martin and the “Army of the Andes” of Chile. Eric’s yachting career began in marine mechanics; from there he moved on to become first mate on a 72ft 1964 classic racing yawl at the age of 18. Eric’s next adventure was working aboard a commercial albacore fishing boat off the coasts of California and Oregon. He worked his way back into yachting aboard private and tournament sportfish yachts. Previously to joining BIG ZIP in 2011, Eric was captain of the well-known charter yacht Shogun which cruised from Alaska to Mexico and Central America. From his years of experience at sea Eric brings a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and finely tuned skills to his job aboard the BIG ZIP. On his free time, you’ll find Eric on the water diving or spear fishing.
CHIEF OFFICER Jason Bacon (British)
Jason started his life on the water at the age of 5 racing small sail boats. After racing for 14 years he began to teach sailing skills at the Olympic sailing school in Plasmenai, Wales and obtained his Yacht Master’s license at an early age. In 2001, Jason was given the opportunity to join the Stars & Stripes America’s Cup Yacht in St Maarten and worked with the team for two seasons before joining his first private yacht. The yachting world was a natural progression with Jason’s love for travel. Within a short time he found himself on the yacht Cariloy. Since then Jason has worked on various yachts and has over 10 years experience in the industry (9 years as First Officer). In his spare time Jason likes free diving, wake boarding, sailing and kayaking. He is currently working towards his 3000 ton captain’s license and hopes to run his own yacht one day.
CHEF Morrison Lewis (American)
Morrison is a passionate culinarian with over 20 years of experience in the hotel and restaurant industry. His career as a chef started in the premier restaurants of San Francisco working under some of the world’s finest chefs. After a decade spent honing and mastering his craft, Morrison returned home to New Orleans to start a family and worked as a consultant and chef for hotels and casinos along the Gulf Coast. A lifelong love of the ocean and boating eventually led Morrison to South Florida and the yachting industry. Morrison’s skillfully handles his integral role as chef on the BIG ZIP team, combining great food with great cruising experiences for each and every guest.
CHIEF STEWARDESS Jessica Orr (Canadian)
Jessica is grew up in Vancouver Island, Canada and brings a wealth of yachting experience and hospitality service to complement the BIG ZIP team. Having traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean, the Bahamas, the East and West Coasts of the USA and Canada, Australia and New Zealand as well Mediterranean from Gibraltar to Lebanon, Jessica is passionate about the yachting industry and innately service-oriented. With over 4 years aboard sailing and motor yachts from 28-70 meters, both private and charter, Jessica finds BIG ZIP the perfect fit for her role as Chief Stewardess and looks forward to ensuring the success of every charter. Her hobbies include photography, snowboarding, travel and scuba diving.
SECOND STEWARDESS Danielle Webber (American)
Danielle is a California native. At age 23, she has acquired years of hospitality service from her past work in restaurants as well as outreach to her community. Danielle came to BIG ZIP a year ago as a fresh face to the yachting industry. Previously, Danielle studied at California State Fullerton but decided to leave life ashore for a career on the ocean. On her time off, Danielle enjoys reading, hiking, exploring exciting new places, and above all singing. Danielle grew up performing solo as well as with a show choir at school, at retirement homes, and throughout the community so do not be alarmed if this stewardess brightly hums while making cocktails.
DECK/STEWARDESS Joyce Young (Scots)
Joyce grew up in Glasgow, the cultural capital of Scotland where she studied veterinary science. Her studies led her to work in Africa where she found her a passion for travel and also for experiencing different cultures. Her love for the ocean came from working as a qualified dive master in Thailand. Reluctant to work in an office environment, Joyce decided to pursue a career in yachting. A very dedicated team member, Joyce has one season under her belt and is looking forward to working her way up the yachting career ladder. She thoroughly enjoys helping others and brings the highest standards to guests aboard. Joyce will ensure your stay aboard BIG ZIP is an unforgettable experience.
CHIEF ENGINEER Guy Cowen (American)
BOSUN / SECOND ENGINEER Clive Vermaak (Namibian)
While growing up in Namibia, Africa, Clive spent a good deal of his time playing inline hockey and represented his country in Finland for the 2005 World Cup. He has a strong interest in aviation and was easily influenced by the family business to carry out an aviation apprenticeship. Clive worked as an aircraft maintenance engineer for 7 years in Namibia and Angola. Having also a keen desire to travel, Clive entered the yachting industry. Prior to joining BIG ZIP he worked aboard a busy charter yacht, the 154 ft Ohana where he worked closely with the chief engineer learning how to manage the engine room. Clive’s experience aboard includes a major engine room overhaul. As Bosun/2nd Engineer aboard BIG ZIP, he will be increasing his engineering skills and also learning how to manage the deck department. Clive has a great personality, works very hard and is a favorite of charter guests with his charming good looks. In his free time Clive enjoys skateboarding and surfing and is currently learning to play the guitar.
