BLUE RENDEZVOUS Crew Profile
Captain Ryland Dickey
Captain Ryland's passion for boating began at the age of 10 in the lakes and rivers surrounding his home of Columbia, South Carolina. Fishing, wake-boarding and cruising with friends were among his main interests as a child, expanding into the bays and estuaries of coastal Carolina. While attending the College of Charleston, Ryland worked part-time at the City Marina gaining valuable professional experience in the maintenance, mechanics, and handling of a variety of pleasure and luxury marine craft. As his college years ended, he chose to pursue a career in yachting and, through his contacts, secured his first professional position as a mate on a luxury yacht based in the Caribbean. Gaining valuable experience in all aspects of mega-yacht crew work, Ryland has worked in many capacities including service as Captain on yachts based on the east coast of the U.S. He earned his Captain's License in 2007 and his Master's License soon thereafter. Ryland has traveled extensively in the waters of the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and the entire US eastern seaboard from Maine to Key West and derives both personal and professional pleasure from serving as Captain of a sea-going vessel.
