Jonathan Hammond- Captain
Hailing from the United States, Jonathan spent his earlier years sailing in Southern California and the San Francisco Bay where he would buy would buy old sailboats and refit them before setting off to sea. Over the years he has been involved in many regattas and sailing events in the Caribbean, U.S. East and West Coasts and the Mediterranean. Jonathan studied Physics and Music at the University of Kansas and is working towards a degree in Electronic Engineering. Passionate about music and musical instruments, Jonathan spends his vacation time writing and recording songs. He has been involved with Capercaillie for more than four years and has made three Atlantic crossings with her. Jonathan holds a Master of Yachts 200 Ton Offshore license, is trained in First Aid and Firefighting and his number one priority is to make sure everyone has a safe, comfortable and fun experience on board Capercaillie.
Eva Rahlova- Chef/ Stewardess
With a cheerful and sunny personality, Eva loves to make sure each and every guest has a tantalizing culinary experience and comfortable stay on Capercaillie. Eva has been cooking many different styles for more than ten years, specializing in Italian/ Mediterranean cuisine, and also loves to offer Asian, Russian, German, Mexican or anything else one might desire. She speaks English, Slovak, Italian, Russian, Czech and German. She holds certifications for Hospitality and Event Management from CNIPA in Italy and has a Doctorates degree in Social-Political Science from Universita del Salento, Italy. Eva is a highly accomplished seamstress and has worked as a professional sail maker, making sails, awnings and covers. Her creativity has led her to design and make many other unique accessories. In her work on Capercaillie, she loves to make sure that each and every guest has a unique and memorable experience.
Ian Burke- First-Mate
An Irishman with a passion for sailing and travel, Ian holds an RYA Coastal Skipper, and is First Aid certified. An avid diver, Ian also has a PADI Advanced Open Water diving certificate. Ian has traveled extensively throughout Africa, Europe and Asia and he can also communicate in intermediate level French.
