CHEETAH MOON (formerly Luwima K, Le Marriah) is a 38.40m motor yacht, custom built in 1986 by Cantieri Navali Nicolini .  This luxury vessel's sophisticated exterior design and engineering are the work of Cantieri Navali Nicolini.   Her exterior is styled by the Cantieri Navali Nicolini team.   The vessel’s interior was refitted in 2002 at the Astilleros de Mallorca and partially again in 2005.   In 2012 both main engines and both generators were replaced by brand new Caterpillar Engines and Kholer generators, providing a new level of comfort and reliability for this already very popular charter boat.


CHEETAH MOON's interior configuration has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests overnight in 5 cabins, comprising a master suite, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins.  It is also capable of carrying 7 crew on board to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Construction & Dimensions

CHEETAH MOON features a semi-displacement steel hull and aluminum superstructure, with teak on all exterior decks.  It was built to Lloyd’s Register classification society rules and is compliant with all the conventions required by maritime law, including MLC 2006.  It is a full commercial yacht with a European (Malta) registration.


Powered by 2 X Caterpillar ACER 32 (1,300 Hp @1800 Rpm) diesel engines and propelled by her twin screw propellers, the motor yacht CHEETAH MOON is capable of a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 13 knots.  CHEETAH MOON as a range of 3,700 Nm at 11.2 knots. Its fresh water tank holds 12,000 liters and the HEM water maker can produce 15, 000 liters of fresh water per day.

MASTER: Frederic CHAUVEAU (49) - French & Australian.

Speaks French, English & Basic Spanish

Frederic has been a professional yacht Captain for the past twenty years, eight of them at the helm of Cheetah Moon. Although he graduated from the French Naval Academy, it is in yachting that he found a career as an Engineer then Deck Officer and finally as a licensed Captain ( Reg II/2). He sailed in many parts of the world, including Australia, the Caribbean, Mexico and Alaska, yet it is in the Mediterranean that his knowledge and years of experience can be fully appreciated. Frederic takes pride in providing his guests with safe and exiting itineraries to build life-long memories. He enjoys tennis and windsurfing and has an interest in Architecture. Previous command: M/Y Andiamo (42 m Feadship).

MATE: Josef BAINES (28) British.

Speaks English

Josef graduated from University with a BA in Social Sciences  and International Politics . He worked around the globe as an expedition leader prior to joining the Cheetah Moon three years ago.  Having sailed since childhood he naturally returned to the sea with a wealth of experience in dealing with people of all walks of life.  Josef is an inspiring crew and officer who strives to make everyone’s days on the water enjoyable and safe: whether you’re keen to water ski, explore the coves by kayak, or fly across the waves on our various water toys, Josef will make it happen.

PURSER/ CHIEF STEW: Monique CHAUVEAU (46) Australian.

Speaks English, French and basic Spanish

Monique first started working in yachting in 1992 and has since been employed on many luxury yachts in the interior department as Chief Stewardess and Purser.  She holds a Business degree and is also a licensed book keeper.  Monique enjoys meeting new guests and making them feel welcome whilst providing them with a high level of service.  When not on the high seas she enjoys tennis, hiking and generally keeping fit and healthy.

CHEF: Raphael RIVET (48) French.

Speaks French and English

Raphael has been in the culinary profession since the age of 16.  He has trained at The International Hotel in Milau and graduated through a variety of courses and culinary positions at several European Restaurants, before becoming the head chef at a French restaurant in Bath, UK.  His passion for food and sailing are reflected in his presentations and his adaptability.  Raphael has won the Antigua Boat Show Chef’s competition twice in 2001 and 2002 and has brought his culinary expertise and exotic flair to Cheetah Moon for the last three years.

ENGINEER: Michael NORTON (54) British.

An experienced engineer with a military background and many years in yachting, holding merchant navy and yachting engineering certificates. Although he has only been on board for a short while,  Mike has become an important and appreciated member of the team, by keeping our systems purring smoothly.  Mike enjoys walking and swimming. One of his personal projects for the last two years has been the renovation of his property in the UK.

STEWARDESS: Esther BLOOR (27) British.

Esther spent several years running bars and working in event management in London, UK. There she gained practical education in fine spirits and wines, floristry and interior decoration.  Her passion for travel and sailing however swept her away from a career in events.  Prior to joining Cheetah Moon, Esther worked on a Swan 82 for 2 seasons, which took her around the Med, Adriatic and Baltic seas as well as the Scottish Isles.  Esther likes being creative with cocktails and to please guests with a variety of service arrangements and styles.

DECKHAND: William DUKE  (28) British.

William hails from the beautiful Cornish coast in the UK. After completing his degree in Sport Education,  William spent eight years saving lives at sea as part of a crew of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.  Certified in casualty care and as a licensed life guard, with a passion for the Ocean, William joins Cheetah Moon this year and is dedicated to providing safety whilst on the water.  True to his athletic nature, William represented his country as a player in the National Volley Ball Team.


CHEETAH MOON's interior configuration has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests overnight in 5 cabins.

The master stateroom is located on the main deck. It is fitted with a king size bed and large hanging wardrobes as well as a private safe. The large dressing area has a couch. The bathroom includes a Jacuzzi bath and a separate shower. The television screen can retract inside the table top when not in use.

Both double cabins and the two twin cabins are located below deck and access is via a separate stair case. Each bathroom has a separate shower, vanity mirror and single size basin.

The crew accommodation is designed for seven and consists of three double occupancy cabins below deck and a Captain’s cabin behind the wheelhouse. Crew quarters including crew mess, bathrooms and crew cabins are accessed by a separate companionway on the main deck.

The crew deck is the foredeck.
