CONSTANTER Crew Profile
Crew Profile
Jimmy Banks,
Captain.
I started sailing in Scotland from a very young age on my families yacht. This was mainly on the west coast where we cruised extensively. At school I like to actively race dinghies.
After leaving school it was clear to me that I wanted a career in yachting. I moved to the south coast of England where I worked for a yacht charter company, at first I was on the maintenance crew and before long they put me through my Yachtmaster to become one of their skippers.
Since then I have had twenty years skippering different yachts both racing and cruising, I have cruised most of the coasts of Northern Europe, Mediterranean, Caribbean , USA and part of the coast of Australia.
I have been the skipper of Constanter for five years. I first joined as race crew but we have since retired Constanter from racing to concentrate on cruising and charter.
I enjoy cruising, meeting new people and exploring new places.
Zuzana Pastorková
Cook/stewardess
I grew up by the riverside in a small village in southern Slovakia. After I finished my studies of cultural anthropology at the university I was working for a a while for a non profit organization as an inteviewer. Since I had always a serious interest for the latin culture I came to Spain to learn Spanish. By that time I was already speaking fluently Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, German and English. I guess the fact that I was born into a multilingual family helped on my facility to learn foreign languages. Coming to Spain changed my life completely. When I first saw the sea I fell in love with it and since then I´m working on yachts every summer season.
During the past 5 years I gained experience as stewardess, deckhand and cook on motor yachts and sailing boats cruising the Mediterranean. Sailing became one of my passions. I´m glad that I have an opportunity to be a crew member of a sailing boat. One can enjoy to be really close to the sea, see more of the wild life and be more in balance with nature. In between the working seasons I enjoy traveling a lot. I don´t like to visit all the different countries as a common tourist. I prefer to stay for a longer period of time, see and live the every day life of the people.
The grand variety of the flavors I tasted during my traveling inspires me in my cooking. I like using fresh ingredients: home grown spices herbs, vegetables and fruits. While I´m cooking I´m discovering ever and anon my senses, learn to be creative and how to prepare each meal with patience and love because I believe when I´m serving food to someone I´m sharing a part of myself. I like to see smiles and relief on our guests faces when they are leaving the yacht. It´s nice to disconnect from work sometimes and I´m glad to be there for the clients so they can really enjoy the precious time of their vacations.
