Chartering in the Caribbean and the East Coast of North America

Operating in the Caribbean and the East Coast of North America

An Oyster 53, CONTINGENCY is a time-proven model introduced in 1999 that is still in production today.  Quoting SAIL magazine, “As with all Oysters, the feeling is refined, subdued, and elegant.”  Sailing on an Oyster 53 is “similar to riding first class on a British train, it’s smooth, quiet and goes along without a fuss.”   The cockpit’s folding  bimini allows the choice of sun or shade while a cushioned area aft of the helm beckons serious sun bathers.

The interior is surprisingly roomy with a walk around queen master aft and very spacious main salon with two seating areas, well-lit by large wrap-around ports.  Two cabins forward – one double and one with upper/lower singles - have individual access to the shared forward head and shower.

Crew Profile

S/Y CONTINGENCY - Captain Aaron Sale

Aaron Sale grew up sailing and racing along the Columbia River bordering Washington State and Oregon until moving to the Hawaiian Islands to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and a Masters in Crisis Management.  Upon graduation, he took a“gap year” to work as a professional surf and windsurf instructor while also acting as a lead kayak guide for a small water sports company in the small town of Kailua, Oahu.  In a short time, the company became uniquely successful and as acting head instructor and PRassociate, Aaron was featured on the Travel Channel, MSNBC and Telemundo as well as inflight programs on both Hawaiian and Japan Airlines.

He took a rare opportunity to move to the United Kingdom to train with the Royal Yachting Association where he earned his RYA/MCAYachtmaster and worked up to instructor status in the challenging waters in southern England.  He has since worked all over the Mediterranean, Caribbean and both U.S. coastlines as an instructor and captain and loves to blend the charter experience with opportunities for learning.

His favorite sailing grounds include New England, Hawaii,Greece, Turkey, Croatia and the British Virgin Islands.  As a long-time waterman, he is always eager to share the experiences that are unique to living and sailing aboard a luxury sailing yacht.

Aaron’s many credentials, such as, USCG licence, MCA/RYA YachtMaster Offshore, MCA/RYA Cruising Instructor, PADI Open Water Dive Certification, and STCW ’95 Safety Training Certificates, attest that guests will be in safe hands with Aaron Sale as their captain!

The Master cabin has a queen size bed, shower and toilet. 2 Guest cabins forward have individual access to a shared shower and toilet. One cabin has a double bed.  The other has upper/lower singles.

Thank you so much for all you did for us this week.  You literally went the extra mile for us(swimming!!) and we appreciated your patience with the kids and yourwillingness to give them your time and attention.  We really enjoyed ourselves and felt like you did a fantastic job taking care of us (and our “slowheads”).

July/August 2015 (Montag Charter)

This trip aboard Contingency will be as memorable for thelocations we visited as for all the laughs and good times we had along theway!  Aaron-thank you for yourhospitality and friendship; you and Patty will be well compensated for yourroles in co-founding “Schmoogle!”  We may not have watched Jaws in the Vineyard as planned, but our spotting of the blue moon, the bike ride to Cisco Brewery and the impromptu, front row anchoring for the Newport Jazz fest made the trip truly memorable!

July 2015

Fantastic! Beautiful Boat! Enjoyed the Vineyard andNantucket and secret hidden coves near Wood’s Hole.  Aaron is the BEST! Captain, Crew and Gourmet Chef!  Not so good at Monopoly, but agood game was played.  The trip was justlovely.  Ahoy and Good Sailing-
