Captain: Randy Boatright
Captain Randy Boatright may be new to Crystal Parrot, but he came aboard already knowing her inside and out. His last job, based out of Puerto Rico, was on the same Ferretti build. The crew are more than experts on this gorgeous 85-footer, they have loads of experience with children as well. Like Crystal Parrot, the previous yacht they worked on often had children aboard. Crystal Parrot's Owner fell in love and purchased her because of design features that perfectly suit her children and grandchildren. Captain Randy and Stewardess Debbie Miller are a perfect fit as well.
Randy was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, working on shrimp boats as a youngster. His love of boating and the sea lead him into sailing & eventually owning a yacht service business. Randy has been in the yachting industry for over 25 years, running yachts of all sizes both charter & personal. He holds a 200 Masters with many endorsements, and has been USCG approved for a 1600 ton.
Debbie shares Randy's passion for the ocean. Her fondest childhood memories are of summer vacation days spent seaside. Today she has a “grandbaby” of her own, and three grown sons who are deservedly a great source of pride. She says she treasures most spending fun times with her boys. While the work schedule of a professional stew is a busy one, she always welcomes little helping hands to share in her more amusing tasks, like creating table decorations from treasures collected on the beach; shiny stones and sea shells.
Theme nights are always fun on board Crystal Parrot, especially Pirates in the Caribbean. Pirate costumes, pirate cocktails, pirate history and pirate tales. Captain Randy has lots of real pirate stories. His friend Sean, who’s a bit of a pirate himself, owns the Pirate’s Chest in St. Thomas, which specializes in authentic treasure. Randy gets his material straight from the source.
Randy and Debbie love to take guests to a gorgeous beach for a fabulous picnic. They capture family moments both above and below the waterline with the yacht’s underwater GoPro, or guests can create their own documentary. Randy, a surfing enthusiast, is a patient instructor for guests who want to learn stand-up paddle board surfing, or improve their skills.
Randy and Debbie are bright, energetic and positive. From the moment guests climb aboard, they put even the youngest, first-time sailors at ease. They interact intuitively, yet have a professional respect for discretion and the privacy of their guests. They are capable seaman and endearing hosts who ensure that every charter adventure is smooth sailing.
