Sailing through Hellenic History

Day 1:  Lavrio – Hydra Island

It is one of the most popular and cosmopolitan points in Greece.  The island received thousands of tourists every year due to its proximity to Athens and its uniqueness.  The town of Hydra has a character all its own.  Bars, clubs, cafeterias, and shops.  Cars are not allowed in the city of Hydra; small donkeys do all the job.  Transport of passengers and luggages.  Molos, Bisti, Ag. Nikolaos and Limioniza are great places for swimming.

Day 2:  Hydra-Nafplio

In ancient times, Nafplio was considered the center of Greece.  In the town, there are nice small alleys, great tourist shops, neoclassic houses, Turkish fountains, the Constitution Square with numerous outdoor café shops… it is just marvelous.  The castle of Palamidi with the 857 steps up the hill is a place to visit.  You can make all the steps or go around the mountain by car and enter the castle.  From the top of the mountain, you can see the fantastic view of the whole city of Nafplion.  Acronafplia is a long walking street along the sea coast that you can take and relax and enjoy the view.

Day 3:  Nafplio-Spetses

Spetses is a beautiful island that is very unique.  The capital of the island is a real architectural beauty with neoclassical houses and many narrow stone paved alleys.  Spetses has been inhabited since Early Bronze Age.

This island played an important role in the Greek history.  Many picturesque views, shops, taverns, cafeterias, and great local meals.

Day 4:  Spetses-Poros Island

Poros is a green island with beautiful coast lines.  At the center of the town worth visiting is the Archaeological Museum and the island’s trademark, the Clock Tower.  Do visit the famous lemon forest, which stands opposite on the coast of the Peloponnese and the Temple of Poseidon.  In the port of the island, there are numerous cafeterias, restaurants, and tourist shops.

Day 5:  Poros-Athens

The capital of Greece.  Within the sprawling city of Athens, it is easy to imagine the golden age of Greece when Pericles had the Parthenon (the most eminent monument of the ancient Greek architecture) built.  Athens is built around the Acropolis and the pinnacled crag of Mt. Lycabettus, which the goddess Athena was said to have dropped from the heavens as a bulwark to defend the city.  The suburbs have covered the barren plain in all directions, and the city is packed with lively taverns and bustling shops.
