Chartering in the Bahamas and the Caribbean

About DELICIA

Operating in the Bahamas and the Caribbean

With a name that conveys delight, DELICIA is just that - a delight in every sense of the word! She is a magnificent Lagoon 450 catamaran, newly launched and available for charters Sept.12-Oct.10 in Corfu, Greece. (She's the only Lagoon 450 chartering in Corfu.) She arrives in the Caribbean for charters starting December 2015.

DELICIA features multiple fabulous lounge areas– the Flybridge, the Aft Deck, the Main Salon, and the Foredeck Lounge. The Flybridge is accessed with steps leading from the aft deck. The helmsman has maximum visibility from this raised steering platform which also has easy access to the sheets and running rigging. It’s a great location offering space for safe operation of the yacht. There's seating for six as well as a sunbathing lounge directly forward of the steering station. Of course, the view of the surrounding scenery from the Flybridge is truly delightful!

Forward of the cabin house and just aft of the trampolines, DELICIA features the unique Foredeck Lounge area – a favorite of many and a great space to enjoy a refreshing lunch or a delicious cocktail.

The interior of the yacht, designed by the Italian specialist, Nauta Yachts, is simply gorgeous. The overall design maximizes space and adds lots of luxurious touches such as indirect lighting, a hideaway cabinet for the flat-screen TV, and clever catches for the drawers and lockers. When the sliding doors are open to the aft deck, there’s virtually no separation between the interior saloon and the exterior living area - it's one big, open space!

Located in both hulls are four luxurious Queen guest cabins offering luxurious accommodations for eight guests. Each cabin has private ensuite bath with electric head and dry shower. DELICIA is fully air-conditioned throughout.

Internet is by Wifi Hot spots although WIFI connections can be arranged with a local provider for $20 per person per week, although mainly for checking emails and not sufficient to stream movies. Suggest download movies at home before charter.

NB Fishing not currently available in BVI.

Delicia will be leaving the Caribbean in May 2017 to head for San Blas Islands, then on to French Polynesia.

Crew Profile

CAPTAIN JAVIER EDUARDO MARRON LUNA

Javier, better known as "Javi", was born in Mexico City but his family moved to the port city of Puerto Morelos while he was still a child. He says “I was so excited to live closer to the ocean! It was there I learned to love many outdoor ocean activities such assailing, scuba diving, fishing, and kite surfing.”

Javi’s love of the sea is one of his passions, the other is cooking. He studied culinary arts at Mexico’s St. Luis de Potosi where he achieved the Diploma of Culinary Art. He enjoys sharing that passion with guests, often working alongside Serena in the galley.

Javi has been sailing the Yucatan Peninsula since his youth, and began work as a professional yacht skipper in 2009. He jokes about his first experience as captain, which occurred when he was actually the chef on board a cruise in the Yucatan. When the Captain became inebriated, Javi had to replace him, and for the rest of the charter was both captain and chef. He has sailed extensively in the Gulf of Mexico, Bahamas and the Caribbean, accumulating well over 30,000 sailing hours including many spent as skipper of large sailing catamarans, including the last three years on a Lagoon 560.

With his naturally lighthearted and easygoing personality, Javi is naturally great at delighting guests. His communication skills are excellent with clients of all ages and walks of life. He says “I love the blue water and to sail on that. I feel most comfortable in mother nature.” His motto is to always be aware and conscious of the sea and be ready to assist crew and other sailors." He sums it up with a quote: “In tempestate nauta” which translates “a good sailor can be recognized in the storm.” (Well said, Javi!)

In addition to his skipper license, Javier also has PADI open water diver certification.

CHEF SERENA GEMIGNANI
Serena grew up in an Italian family who owned a gourmet restaurant in Tuscany, so her love for the culinary arts came quite naturally. After college, she worked as a financial consultant, assisting clients with investments, insurance, and retirement planning. She moved to Mexico where she worked as chef and offered catering services on the Mexican Riviera Maya. While in Mexico she met Captain Javi and discovered the joy of working as chef on a Lagoon 500 charter catamaran sailing the Mexican Caribbean.

Serena is also a delightfully positive person who thoroughly enjoys her profession, which shows in her delicious meals. She is very good with children, and will ensure you feel right at home aboard your luxury yacht, Delicia.

Virgins 27th Dec to 3rd Jan

We had a fantastic time aboard the Delicia! The boat was very nice and very well taken care of! Everything was extremely clean and ship shape! But the best part was the crew! Kevin and Sally were delightful, extremely nice and very very accommodating. They really tried to tend to our every wish. They were incredibly friendly and nice companions in tight living quarters. Sally did a great job of cooking and being the first mate. The food was very very good. We had requested a more simple Mediterranean sort of menu and she did everything to completely accommodate our wishes, and all was delicious, especially the wonderful breakfasts. Nothing like having your coffee topped up without even asking! Both she and Kevin eagerly served the food and made sure we were totally satisfied.

Most importantly however was the skippering by Kevin. He is obviously very very knowledgeable on sailing and we felt safe and secure always with him at the helm. He was completely competent and knew all about the islands, boating, weather and all that had to do with being on the water. He very expertly and impressively parallel parked our vessel in-between the Rutter’s catamaran and a huge yacht to the amazement of all on the docks for our New Year’s Eve dockage. He was given kudos from all the other captains. He would not have attempted it but the yacht club insisted that was the only space for us. He was a totally trustworthy captain and both he and Sally were honest and earnest people of exceptional character and temperament . We would love to sail with them again anytime!
