DESTINY Crew Profile
Captain Michael Skeet, British,
Chef/Hostess Pippa Gardner, British, 27
Mike was born in London. His family moved to Norfolk where he started sailing on the Norfolk Broads at the age of 12 and joined the school dinghy racing team. Mike studied pharmacy at the University of Sussex and went on to work in telecommunications - long enough to learn that 9 to 5 was not for him.
Since completing RYA training in 2009, Mike has captained sailing yachts up to 60 feet in length in the UK, Med and the Caribbean, crossing the Atlantic twice. He was co-skipper in the 2013 ARC and skippered various races in the 2014 Caribbean season with Pippa as Mate and Cook. Professional yachting keeps Mike’s passion for traveling alive. He has lived in Africa, Australia, Thailand and Mexico.
Pippa grew up in a small village in North East England. She has competed in equestrian events from early childhood, trained event horses and competed at the national level for years. Pippa studied French History and Economics at Queen Elizabeth College and worked as a market consultant before deciding to work on yachts.
Her passion for fine food began in childhood, sparked by her family’s love of fresh, local food. Working in restaurant kitchens from the age of 16, she has developed a discerning palate. Pippa developed her flair for creating simple, fresh dishes - especially fish and seafood as well as traditional French and Italian cuisine - cooking on yachts in the Mediterranean. She is always happy to prepare interesting vegetarian options as well as kids’ meals.
Mike and Pippa love music. He helped set up a record label she has played guitar since she was a child. They both enjoy teaching children to sail and love to see kids go home with new knowledge and interest in marine life and pirate lore!

Dear Megan & Gunnar,
A short note to thank you for looking after us during our 11 days sailing on DESTINY. We really had a good tour of the BVIs, experiencing beautiful beaches on a number of islands . . . (and an) opportunity for some fine sailing.
We are very grateful for your hospitality and a particular note towards Megan’s exquisite cooking which we all enjoyed.
I would remind you that should you be in London, or passing close to Malta, do contact me to explore the possibility of visiting us.
Wish you all the best for the future.

Camden, Maine – Camden, Maine
The Hylas 70 is a fine charter yacht. While I prefer a more classic yacht she is good looking.
The cockpit is especially large and can be fully enclosed, including the helm area. Great access for boarding the tender. Accommodations are very adequate.

March 2013, one week in the British Virgins
The trip was absolutely perfect in every way. The boat was beyond amazing and surpassed only by the crew, Gunnar and Megan were the best you could hope for. I would recommend the Destiny and the crew to anyone . . . . our next trip . . . can’t be too soon.
January 2013, one week Bequia to Grenada
We got home last night and had a wonderful time. The boat itself was great!
Gunnar and Megan did a great job. Megan is a great cook and has a lovely manner about her. Gunnar was a CAPTAIN! Very nice and eager to please. We all felt very safe with him. They were both also a lot of fun.
We covered 8 islands in eight days, so we were active. We did have Christmas winds but we got used to it. All said we had awesome time on Destiny and we would definitely book them again.
