Crew Profile

Captain: Zane Randall

Zane grew up in the mountains of Colorado where he developed a deep passion for the outdoors. After college Zane could not resist the allure of the ocean and moved to San Francisco to pursue his dream of sailing professionally. He has since been working in the marine industry on a variety of sailing and motor vessels throughout North America, the Caribbean, Latin America and Europe. Through these experiences Zane earned his USCG masters license and has worked in the capacity of rigger, carpenter, engineer, chief mate and captain. When he is not sailing, Zane continues to enjoy the outdoors, spending time camping, fly fishing, surfing and SCUBA diving, he is always excited to share these pastimes with guests.

Chef: Shivani Sood

Shivani grew up in southern California where she attended college and earned a B.S. in Marketing. Her parents owned and operated a small restaurant there where she worked just about every day for 4 years. Watching the restaurant’s patrons swoon over her mother’s fresh, healthy and thoughtful array of recipes was the spark that commenced her interest in cooking. Soon after college she moved to New England where she worked in admissions at a university. Shivani’s position at the university allowed her to travel around New England and eventually meet Zane who introduced her to a life and career on the water. She has now sailed and cooked offshore from the USVI to Massachusetts and worked on several yachts in the Caribbean as steward, deckhand and cook.

In deciding to begin a life together, Zane and Shivani are thrilled to do so through their passion of working on the water. They are excited to offer their guests a diverse itinerary, an exciting menu and an idyllic atmosphere onboard Destiny.

Dear Megan & Gunnar,

A short note to thank you for looking after us during our 11 days sailing on DESTINY.  We really had a good tour of the BVIs, experiencing beautiful beaches on a number of islands . . . (and an) opportunity for some fine sailing.

We are very grateful for your hospitality and a particular note towards Megan’s exquisite cooking which we all enjoyed.

I would remind you that should you be in London, or passing close to Malta, do contact me to explore the possibility of visiting us.

Wish you all the best for the future.

The Hylas 70 is a fine charter yacht.  While I prefer a more classic yacht she is good looking.

The cockpit is especially large and can be fully enclosed, including the helm area.   Great access for boarding the tender.   Accommodations are very adequate.

GREAT CREW!

January 2013, one week Bequia to Grenada

We got home last night and had a wonderful time.  The boat itself was great!
Gunnar and Megan did a great job.  Megan is a great cook and has a lovely manner about her.  Gunnar was a CAPTAIN!  Very nice and eager to please.  We all felt very safe with him.  They were both also a lot of fun.

We covered 8 islands in eight days, so we were active. We did have Christmas winds but we got used to it.   All said we had awesome time on Destiny and we would definitely book them again.
