DHAAINKAN'BAA is named after Sultana Dhaainkan’baa Dhi Kilege Mahaarehendhi, the Queen of the Maldives from 1384 to 1388 AD, known for her exceptional beauty and lifestyle of grandeur.
Launched in 2009, every aspect of DHAAINKAN'BAA's operation has been carefully designed to combine the best of luxury yachting with a truly authentic Maldivian experience. DHAAINKAN'BAA's captain is one of the most experienced navigators in the Maldives and the friendly crew are equally experienced and professional in their respective roles. This extensive local knowledge ensures that charter guests experience the very best of the Maldives during their charter. DHAAINKAN'BAA is based in the Maldives year-round.
A range of onboard spa facilities (such as the sauna, steam room and deck Jacuzzis) are all available for guests to use as they wish. A range of spa 'treatments' such as facial and full body treatments, massage, etc. are also provided. The yacht usually operates with 1 spa therapist amongst the crew as standard.
Internet access onboard is supplied free of charge to guests via a portable Wi-Fi hub plus a number of broadband Internet modems (USB). Coverage is available throughout most of the Maldives.
SCUBA Diving: DHAAINKAN'BAA is equipped with an amazing onboard diving set up. She has a separate 18 metre dive tender that travels in tandem with the main vessel throughout every charter. All diving operations are conducted from this purpose-built tender. A PADI Dive Instructor is part of the regular crew for all charters at no additional cost to charter guests. The yacht is fully equipped with 2 x Bauer Mariner dive compressors, Nitrox diving capabilities, tanks, regulators, BCDs, dive computers, wetsuits, weights, masks, fins, etc.
Additional adventure activities and experiences such as game fishing, surfing, cultural visits, etc. are also available and itineraries are carefully tailored to the specific requirements of each unique charter party.

CAPTAIN: Hassan Zareer (Maldivian)
Hassan has been cruising in Maldivian waters for over 25 years. For the past fifteen years Hassan has been at the helm of some of the most well known yachts in the Maldives. Hassan is a disciplined leader who guides and oversees his crew performance and is well respected by the crew. He is a certified diving guide and enjoys diving and other water sports.
CHIEF ENGINEER: Shinu Vasudevan Lalitha (Indian)
Shinu studied electrical and mechanical engineering and worked in India before moving to the Maldives in 2001 to work on two resort development projects as the Senior Engineer. Shinu was the supervisor in charge of all M & E installations onboard Dhaainkan’baa during her construction. He has been involved in the project from start to finish and knows all of the technicalities of the yacht. Shinu enjoys listening to music.
CRUISE DIRECTOR: Mohamed Niyaz (Maldivian)
After graduating from the Institute of Hotel & Catering Services in Male’, Mohamed worked at Alimatha Resort as the Office Manager for 4 years. He started diving while working there and subsequently moved on to pursue a career in the dive industry. Following the completion of the PADI Dive Instructor course, he joined the Four Seasons Kuda Huraa Resort as a diving guide. He was promptly promoted to Dive Instructor and then as the Base Leader on the Four Seasons Resort. When Four Seasons launched their cruise ‘Four Seasons Explorer’ in the Maldives, Mohamed was selected to run its operations. He has served clientele of all standings including heads of states, celebrities and leading businessmen. He worked at Four Seasons for 12 years. With over 16 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Mohamed joined Dhaainkan’baa confident of introducing a totally new concept to the yacht industry in the Maldives. Mohamed loves adventure and likes to travel.
EXECUTIVE CHEF: Prabir Banerji (Indian)
Trained at the Vidaya Institute of Hotel Management and Catering, Prabir has worked as Commi I, Commi II, Chef de Partie, Sous Chef and Executive Chef at various establishments throughout his career. He is an experienced, highly qualified Chef with his specialty in Continental dishes. He is noted for his leadership, coaching and team building skills, and his commitment to creating a memorable dining experience for all guests. Prabir has worked for the Welcom Group, Fortune Hotels,
Aslankritha Resort and the Best Western Amrutha Castle. In his free time, Prabir likes to read.
SOUS CHEF: Raja Ram (Indian)
Raja has a Bachelors Degree in Catering from the Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Bhopal, India. Raja joined the Taj Ganges Hotel in Varanasi as a kitchen trainee and worked his way to Commi I, working within the Taj Group of Hotels. He has also worked at the Taj Usha Kiran Palace and Taj Residency of Hyderabad. He later joined the Marriott Hotel in Hyderabad and has worked at the Anantara Resort & Spa in the Maldives. Raja likes to
meditate in his free time.
FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER: Mahendran Sivalingham (Sri Lankan)
On completion of his secondary school education, Mahendran joined the Claremont School of Catering and Hotel Management to pursue his career in the hospitality industry and graduated in 1985. He has been in the industry since then, working as Waiter, Barman, Supervisor and eventually taking up the Restaurant & Bar Manager’s position. Mahendran has worked at the Hotel Renuka and
Holiday Inn in Sri Lanka, Le Meridien Jumeira Beach, Al Bustan Rotana Hotel and Al Safir Hotel in Dubai. It was during his tenure at Filitheyo Island Resort in the Maldives that he developed an interest in sailing. His hobbies are reading and listening to music.
DIVE MASTER: Ali Rifshan (Maldivian)
Even as a child, Ali enjoyed snorkeling on Maldivian reefs and is a true marine life enthusiast. After completing his secondary education Ali took up diving courses, completed the PADI Dive Master course and joined Banyan Tree Resort on Vabbinfaru as a Dive Guide in 2003. During his time at the Banyan Tree he has actively participated in environmental conservation programs, seminars and several research programs on Maldivian reefs. Ali has dived extensively in the Maldives, as a Dive Guide and research assistant. Ali is a highly experienced diver who also has a passion for underwater videography. He likes photography, reading and wind surfing.
DECK HAND: Ali Ahmed (Maldivian)
Before joining Dhaainkan’baa, Ali worked on tourist transfer boats at several Maldivian of resorts and a
liveaboard diving safari boat. He joined Dhaainkan’baa six months before her launch and has been involved in the final finishing installations. He is very hard working and likes to be out on the sea. Ali likes watersports and snorkeling.
DECK HAND: Ibrahim Hassan (Maldivian)
Ibrahim’s family owns a tuna fishing vessel and he has been active on the sea from a very early age.
He is young, energetic and a good team player. Before joining Dhaainkan’baa he worked in the family business, as the mechanic and bait fisherman. Ibrahim plays football and loves to fish.
DECK HAND: Munasir Bin Sabenih (Indonesian)
Coming from a village in Indonesia, Munasir’s main line of work was fishing. He has spent over 10 years in the fishing industry with most of that period in commercial trawling. Munasir is also a highly talented carpenter with special interests in finishings and painting. With his maritime background and carpentry skills Munasir is the perfect choice for maintenance works onboard the yacht. Munasir likes to fish in his free time.
BARMAN: Mohamed Ibrahim (Indian)
Mohamed’s first job was at the Villivaru & Biyadhoo Island Resorts in Maldives. He worked there as a Barman and was promoted to Head Barman within two years. After which, he has worked at the Arif Castle Hotel and the Iceberg Club Grand Hotel in Dubai. Mohamed returned back to the Maldives with an offer from the Reethi Beach Resort as the Senior Head Barman, where he worked for a year
before joining Dhaainkan’baa. His specialties are tropical cocktails and he loves to sing.
STEWARD: Hassan Didi (Maldivian)
Hassan has spent 8 years in the Food & Beverage sector, working as Waiter and Head Waiter. While working as a Waiter, Hassan did a short term course on Food & Beverage at the Institute of Hotel & Catering Services. In his last job as Head Waiter, Hassan was in charge of the services of a 400 cover restaurant. Hassan likes football and reading.
STEWARD: Ismail Naseer (Maldivian)
When he first joined the hospitality industry, Ismail worked on Vilu Reef Resort as a Bar Waiter. After
three years working at the Bar, he joined Dhonveli Beach & Spa Resort as a Restaurant Waiter. He has six years experience as a waiter. Ismail likes to watch movies and fish in his free time.
HOUSEKEEPER: Ahmed Rasheed (Maldivian)
With a Diploma from the Hotel School, Ahmed joined Kandooma Tourist Resort as a Room Attendant in 1998 and worked his way up to the position of Supervisor, Assistant Housekeeper and finally Housekeeper in 2003. His attention to detail helped him achieve his career objective. He has also worked as the Housekeeper at Olhuveli Beach & Spa Resort before he joined Dhaainkan’baa. Ahmed plays the Maldivian hand drum called Boduberu... which is usually played to a song, starting in a slow beat and rising to a crescendo accompanied by a tribal form of dance. It is one of the few cultural entertainment forms that is very popular even today.
HOUSEKEEPER: Mohamed Shahidhul Islam (Bangladeshi)
Mohamed worked in his native country as a Tailor prior to coming to the Maldives to work in a tourist resort. His hardwork and sincerity was noted by his employer and he was soon promoted the position of a Housekeeper in 2001. Mohamed has a warm personality and still likes to do tailoring in his free time.
