ENCORE Crew Profile
Welcome Aboard Motor Yacht Encore!
Captain Roy Hodges
Roy grew up on Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, working at Green Turtle Bay Marina and Houseboat Rentals from the age of 13. He had acquired enough sea time to get his Captain’s License at 19 years old and has been moving upward in yachting ever since. He is very talented in maneuvering all types of vessels and has hands-on engineering experience. He made a name for himself in the charter industry by winning “Best In Show” at the St. Maarten MYBA Charter Yacht Exhibition. Roy has spent the last 17 years cruising the Bahamas and Caribbean and his love for the area will help make your trip a most memorable one!
Chief Officer Aaron Hersom
Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, it was too hard to resist the temptations of life on the water. Having joined the industry in 2004, I have enjoyed various positions from the Galley, Engine Room, and above the deck, cruising the world over. Being part of a great team, chasing the sun aboard a magnificent motor yacht and living on the water, I really couldn’t ask for more. I look forward to welcoming you onboard.
Purser/interior Management Stephanie Hodges
Stephanie has been working aboard yachts for fourteen years and has known her husband Capt. Roy for twenty two. Traveling aboard together has allowed them to become extremely familiar with the Bahamas and Caribbean. She has experience in the galley, interior and on deck. Stephanie can make many great local recommendations and has many contacts throughout the islands. She will help coordinate all aspects of your charter and is always at hand if you have questions or need anything. She holds a USCG 100 Ton Near-Coastal License and enjoys fishing and shooting skeet.
Chief Engineer- Eugene Maderal
Eugene grew up on the beaches in Varadero, Cuba. In his life he has had a passion for the ocean, most of his days spent spear fishing, diving and wind surfing. Eugene has always been very handy and enjoyed recreational engineering at a young age and when he came to the States in 1994 his career on boats followed shortly after. He worked for Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel for six years, servicing engines on vessels all over the world. He was offered his first Chief Engineering position in 2005 and his yachting career took off. Eugene has always been an engineer at heart, but an adventure enthusiast as well. Eugene enjoys making every guest trip fun, exciting and memorable.
Chief Stewardess – Cassie Thibeau
Cassie grew up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She has always had a close relationship with the sea, spending much of her free time on the water with friends and family. Before entering the sailing world Cassie was a dental graduate but it seemed she couldn’t get away from the ocean and was ready to explore a different passion in her life. Moving to Florida and beginning her career in yachting she was able to indulge in her great love for the ocean and travel. Cassie's enthusiasm to explore the world gives her the opportunity to share her passion for the ocean and the many wonders it has to offer.\
Chef Jean-Paul Barcena
I come from a deep family history of home cooking. I have had a love for food from early childhood, appreciating the tender flake of a biscuit to the sweet burst of a cherry tomato picked right off of the vine. I learned to cook from my mother in my early years and that sparked an interest that I never knew until later in life and would soon turn into a life-long passion of preparing exquisite meals for others. Having over 25 years experience I have opened over 75 restaurants and consulted for some of the most exclusive restaurant groups globally from California all the way to the Middle East and have cooked professionally aboard yachts for many years.
Second Stewardess – Anais Levert
I am a French Canadian who grew up at a famous ski resort named Mont-Tremblant, 1 hour away from Montreal. I enjoyed working in the hospitality industry from an early age. I begun traveling when I was 17 years old and started exploring Asia. Since then, I have cultivated my interest for surfing, diving, photography, sailing, and discovering new peoples and cultures by traveling around the world. Serving you will make me more than happy as being your Stew on ENCORE will combine all my passions and experiences in one. I’d be happy to share them with you and will make sure you enjoy your trip to the maximum. Bienvenue!
