Chartering in the East Coast of North America, Caribbean and Other Cruising Areas

About EROS

Operating in the East Coast of North America, Caribbean and Other Cruising Areas

Schooner 'EROS' is a classic beauty built in England in 1939 for the daughter and son-in-law of a British Lord. She was very soon after commandeered by the Royal Navy to participate in the famous evacuation at Dunkirk. After the war she became the private yacht of the first man internationally known as a billionaire, Stavros Niarchos, and she became well known in the Mediterranean yachting community. Her present owners acquired her in 1992 and have just completed a museum quality restoration, no expenses spared!

'EROS' comfortably accommodates up to eight guests in four double cabins. The usual toys are aboard for amusing oneself when at anchor: small boats suitable for sailing, paddling or skiing, snorkeling gear and dive boat, plasma TV, piano, hammocks - the list goes on!

When money is no object, the EROS crew can arrange for you to have the ultimate toy aboard - one of Graham Hawke's deep flight submersibles along with a qualified instructor.

The professional crew of five includes a very experienced Captain and gourmet chef. Guests can swing in a hammock sipping a tropical drink, swim to the beach, or take the helm and help hoist the sails if you wish.

Crew Profile

Captain: Captain Michael Delehanty

It is safe to say that growing up in Michigan near the Great Lakes heavily influenced Michael’s sailing career. Before obtaining his driver’s license, Michael had already mastered how to handle a sailboat all by himself.

At age 13, his family began racing sailboats, fueling his passion for sailing and racing even more! By age 14, Michael crewed in his first Mackinaw Race, later crewing on Mackinaw winner “Sassy”, a C&C 61, as well as the 12 meter known as “Heritage”. Michael first began making sails at 18 years old in Hood & Watts sail lofts. He turned this passion into a business from 1987-2004 where he was the owner and designer of “Gorge Sails”, a custom sail business that also managed boat repairs. With his own custom designed sail, Michael went on to win first place as fastest US windsurfer in 1993!

Michael’s extensive maritime education combined with his lengthy comprehensive experience contributes to his confident boat handling skills and noteworthy licenses. Michael currently holds a USCG Unlimited Master License. Experience the magic and serenity of EROS while Michael and crew sail you away into complete relaxation!

Captain Michael is excited to welcome you aboard EROS and is eager to offer the experience of a lifetime!

Deckhand: Diana Riordan

Originally from Plymouth, Massachusetts, Diana grew up around some of the great maritime towns in the Northeast. Prior to joining the industry, she enjoyed sailing along the scenic coastlines of Maine and Massachusetts. Diana brings a positive, optimistic demeanor everywhere she goes, and is always looking to put a smile on someone's face. She is excited to join the crew of Eros for her inaugural classical yachting season, and to make sure your stay is one to remember!

First Mate/Engineer: Wilson Willkom

A native of the Philippines, Wilson’s work as a research technician in Biotech brought him to the US in 1999. He spent most of his free time climbing the Sierra Nevada Mountains and sailing on the San Francisco Bay. Wilson has sailed extensively in California, Mexico and the Caribbean as both crew member and skipper. He joined Eros in 2012 for a charter season in the Caribbean which included the voyage from San Francisco to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands via the Panama Canal. A consummate professional whose love for Eros matches his passion for sailing, Wilson takes great pride in her care and upkeep. Dedicated to pleasing guests and captain alike, he is beloved for his cheerful and welcoming disposition.

Stewardess: Renée Randolph Myers

Renée brings 20 years of hospitality and catering leadership to Eros, where she combines her talent and professionalism with her love for sailing. A product of California’s food & wine entertainment boom, she has managed countless affairs through the years, from high-profile corporate and public events to intimate private dinners. Her attention to detail, style and simplicity reflect her early background in TV advertising production.

No stranger to the sailing world, her yachting hospitality credits include the Presidential Yacht, Potomac, America's Cup, Moet Cup, Louis Vuitton Cup and the Mayor's Cup Yacht Races in Newport, RI. Her warmth and conviviality, combined with a passion for world travel, make her at home with Eros guests from around the world, from our youngest to our most seasoned travelers. Renée is eager to learn her guests’ favorite items so that she can prepare Eros for your arrival in the most personal way.

Master Chef: John Meyers

John brings a wealth of culinary vision and international flair to Eros, with a focus on artfully presented cuisine prepared with the finest and freshest ingredients. We strive to accommodate all preferences and dietary restrictions. Child-friendly menus, late-night snacks, and picnic boxes to go can also be arranged. Our final menu selections are partly determined by the fresh ingredients available on each of the islands we visit, but you can view some of our sample menus here.
