Joey Lowcock was born and raised in Bowen, Australia. Bowen is a small coastal town situated in the Whitsundays in Queensland. Growing up Joey loved spending his free time fishing, sailing, boating, kite surfing, motor biking and camping. After being a carpenter for ten years and completing a Diploma in building and construction, Joey decided that it was time for something new. His love for water, adventure, and traveling lead him to working on Super Yachts, one of the rare industries that allowed him to en-joy both of his passion at the same time. After joining the industry at the end of 2014 Joey had soon made a name for himself as a hard worker and we couldn’t be happier to have him as part of the Excellence team. Joey is more than happy to help make your stay on board excellent!
Deckhand – Ned Fisher
Born and raised on the island of Ovalau in the isles of Fiji Ned has always been attracted to anything and everything to do with the sea. Ned started his career as a flight attendant in 2007 than in 2009 went on to work on Cruise Ships. In 2014 Ned decided to chase his dream and enrolled with the Australian Superyachts where he attained his Certificate for Professional Deckhand Training. A year later he was offered a permanent job with Excellence and is ready and rearing to kick start his seafaring career. Ned’s innovative, easy going and versatile demeanor ensures that he is well liked by guests and crew alike. He also ensures that all guest access areas are safe and well kept, before, during and after trips. In his spare time Ned loves training, diving and reading.
Chef – Aaron Ryan
Aaron who (likes to be called Azza!) Is a Culinary trained Chef from Australia He has been cooking since the age of 16 and loves constantly learning new things about food and nutrition Aaron has spent the past few years travelling and cooking on Superyachts and has visited more than 60 countries and gained great culinary experience through his travels. Aarons interests include many different water sports including diving, wake-boarding and especially surfing. He also has a keen eye for photography and loves to capture his travels from behind his camera. Aaron is excited to show-case his unique cooking style and don’t be afraid to test him with your favorite culinary requests.
Chief Stewardess – Samantha Tester
Through family gatherings on the coast which were full of fishing, surfing, and boating, Samantha has a natural attachment to the coast. After graduating High School in Charlotte, NC, Samantha’s love for the sea brought her to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she graduated with her Bachelors in Business. She is an entrepreneur at heart and hopes to own a business one day. Samantha is an outdoor girl with a love for adventure. Some of her hobbies include yoga, hiking, water sports, and snow-boarding. She also enjoys cooking, decorating, and entertaining. With over four years of experience in the industry, an eye for detail, and a positive-energetic personality, Samantha will happily strive to make your stay on board unforgettable.
2nd Stewardess – Carla Balsters
Carla was raised in a small town in Australia, filled with Forests and moved to the Beaches as a teenager; both places were filled with fun, laughter and adventures, surrounded by family and friends. She trained as a Ballerina and later as a Yoga Instructor. Over the past few years she has traveled to over 30 countries some included the Islands of Palau, Hawaii, Asia, Europe and America. Working on Super Yachts has opened up opportunities and experiences for Carla in travel, exploring and meeting new people. She is a friendly person who loves to make your holiday feel like a Home away from Home.
3rd Stewardess – Laura Crow
As a native of Minnesota, Laura embodies the hospitality and charm of the Mid-West. She went to College at St. Cloud State, where she gained experience in bar tending and severing. Growing up Laura was an active part of the track and field team. Being the Captain of a team for the duration of her middle and high school career gave Laura valuable experience in endurance and team work. Her curiosity and free spirit eventually led her to working on Yachts. Though only being in the yachting industry for two years, her love for the sea has grown exponentially. Laura enjoys four wheeling, fishing, yoga, and rollerblading in her free time.
Engineer – Hartmut John
After leaving the active service as an aircraft maintenance chief mechanic in the German Airforce, in 2000, Hartmut began his journey into a yachting career. From that time on, he has passed through different places and positions. At first as a mate and engineer, then skipper in a German sailing school and later as a captain and engineer on sailing and motor yachts up to 40 meters. He has been able to travel large parts of the Mediterranean, the Canary Is-lands and the Caribbean. As an engineer and captain, Hartmut has been involved in the supervision and management of yacht refits and new construction of yachts in Malta, Italy, Turkey and Croatia.Despite the long service in the industry, his joy and motivation is still unbroken. He is a very reliable, honest, experienced and well trained Engineer, with high demands in his quality of work.
