Welcome to eXta-Sea

Mike and Lesley welcome you to your dream vacation onboard Extasea, a  magnificent Eco Friendly 47ft Leopard catamaran, built by the world renowned Robertson & Caine, in Cape Town, which won the Charter Boat of the Year award.

There is no set itinerary or Schedule on Extasea – together with your skippers advice,  we will take you on the holiday of a lifetime according to where your wishes and the weather takes you.

Extasea's accommodations are luxurious and the volume of the cabins is similar to those found on much larger yachts. The immediate impression upon boarding is one of spaciousness and generous headroom.

The comfortable double en-suite cabins have queen beds and are airy and spacious and in addition each one is fitted with two fans.  There is ample cupboard space and luxury linens for guests comfort.    Each cabin has a large bathroom equipped with shower and basin, two of the guest cabins have  full sized one touch electric flush toilets, much to the delight of our guests!

The cockpit,  which is where most of the time is spent on board,is shaded by a hard top bimini with side awnings ensuring comfort and protection come rain or shine.    It features  a large dining table with seating for eight and  a drinks refrigerator.    It has both bright and ambiance lighting, making it the ideal place to enjoy cocktails, meals, or just relax on one of the comfortable bean bags.

The saloon is spacious and elegantly proportioned with a large seating area, and an attractive beech-wood table which can  be lowered and made into a king size bed - great for the little ones, where they can safely sleep or play close to the  action.

It’s also a great place to, watch DVD’s on the large flat screen TV or just relax while reading a book.

Her two "sugar scoop" swim platforms make boarding a snap.

One of the special features on Extasea, making her such a popular dive charter yacht is the spacious and unique dive platform, which can be lowered into the water for easy accesses and relaxing in the cool Caribbean waters.

There is a hot and cold fresh water shower conveniently located by the steps.

The huge forward deck  with comfy trampolines is covered by a large awning, and  is perfect for lounging at anchor and is a fun place to hang out when underway.

Extasea is an Eco friendly yachting environment. Power in the day is generated from 800watts of Solar Power and a Wind generator at Night. We have 2 energy efficient fans in each cabin ensuring enough cool ventilation. Extasea has a 20 gallon an hour reverse osmosis water maker operating during the day  from Solar power, drinking water is filtered through a Carbon filter as well as giving you chlorine free pure drinking water. We incorporate eco friendly detergents and sprays and cooking methods. We leave nothing to chance as we protect this wonderful planet. When we cannot sail only then will we use the engine.

EXTA-SEA Crew Profile

Mike and Lesley have been a winning team for 38 years and together they look forward to welcoming you aboard Extasea for a  fabulous fun filled holiday – where many of their guests return year after year.      You will meet them as their guests and leave Extasea as their friends.

They hail from South Africa where they owned and managed their own successful National Business.   The family have spent a large part of their lives in the water initially as competitive swimmers, and also surfing, wakeboarding, water ski-ing,  and scuba diving.  Once the children had graduated and left home they decided to pursue a more relaxed lifestyle, sharing their love of the ocean, traveling, meeting new people and enjoying new cultures and food.

They previously owned a Charter Catamaran “Coco de Mer” - specializing in Scuba Diving holidays, based in Nosy Be, Madagascar, and spent time sailing in the Indian Ocean Islands.

They have been successfully chartering in the Caribbean since November 2009 on eXta-Sea.

Mike is a qualified RYA Yachtmaster with over 30,000 sea miles under his belt. He has been a surfer since the age of 8 so loves and understands the sea, and he came 2nd in the 2009 Cape to Salvidor yacht race proving his ability as your captain and is also very competent in maintaining and running all aspects of his yacht. His outgoing personality, love of life, sense of humor and honesty make him a great captain to sail with.

Lesley's is a natural earth mother, has a great rapport  with children, is  fun, laid back,  helpful and resourceful.    From the moment you board Extasea she will make you immediately feel at home, while making sure your every need is attended to.     She has attended various Hostess cooking courses and her cuisine reflects their travels throughout the world.   Freshest ingredients and  healthy meals is her moto.

8.  Additional comments on your charter?

We were hoping for the adventure of our lives. We experienced that and much, much more. We made close friends, saw beauty beyond words, and made memories for life. We all were constantly smiling happy, from the youngest (10) to oldest (66), which is a feat these days. We learned to snorkel and ski, and even a little about how to sail. Michael and Lesley were excellent guides, and the most gracious hosts. A five-star experience for all of us. It's very hard to revert back to "real life."

Name:  Mike Bauer

Yacht:  EXTA SEA with Mike and Lesley Blamey

Charter Dates:  December 27 - January 3, 2012

Area Cruised:  Virgin Islands

We hope your charter lived up to your expectations.  We would love to know some of your impressions about your yachting vacation.  Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.

1.  Was the crew friendly and accommodating?

Yes.  Right from the first emails we exchanged through to our final day, Mike and Lesley were warm, welcoming, and always a pleasure to be around.

2.  Was the yacht comfortable and clean?

Exta-Sea was not only clean when we arrived, but kept clean and organized the entire trip.  Mike and Lesley have made many customizations to the yacht for increased safety and comfort and we very much noticed and appreciated these modifications.  We would definitely charter with Mike and Lesley again.

3.  Was the yacht well ventilated?

Yes, there were two fans in each cabin and hatches and screened portholes that could be opened.  There was no need for air conditioning and we were comfortable.

4.  Was the food good and well presented?

Meals were consistently high quality and there was lots of variety – from “meat and potatoes” to Samosas and Pad Thai.  They exceeded our expectations and there was no fear of going hungry as generous portions were served.

5.  Did you like the area you sailed?

The pace, places we anchored, and amount of snorkeling was perfect for us.  It was clear that Mike and Lesley seriously considered the information we provided and planned an itinerary to fit our wishes.  They also made changes along the way to adjust to weather and were flexible.

6.  Could we have helped you further in any way?

Nothing comes to mind.

7.  May we post this review on our website?

Yes

8.  Additional comments on your charter?

Ellen listened to our expectations and was very helpful in suggesting yachts and crews that were compatible with our needs; she also personally communicated with crews on our behalf to clarify some of our questions.  Ellen also provided information and help with regards to hotel recommendations, ferry routes to fit our schedule, and our general questions.  The staff were very friendly and helpful with regards to payment processing, questions about insurance, etc.
