1/05 Captain JEFF HARDGRAVE, age 53, holds a 1600 ton (3000 ITC) USCG All Oceans Masters License. He also holds a British MCA Certificate of Equivalent Competency and is fully STCW-95 compliant. A veteran of over 180,000 miles at sea, all aboard yachts, including 6 trans-Atlantic and 3 trans-Pacific crossings. His 13 year career in yachting has taken him up and down the east coast of the United States, the entire Caribbean, most of the Western Mediterranean, the South Pacific by way of the Panama Canal, the Marquesas, Tuamotos, and Society Islands of French Polynesia, onwards to Samoa, TOnga, FIji and New Zealand. Jeff's last command was aboard another Christensen motor yacht, EMERALD ISLE. Prior to that he was Captain for 5 1/2 years aboard the well known37 year old classic motor yacht BLUE GUITAR. Jeff got his start in the yachting industry aboard the sailing yachts QUIXOTE and ISLAND STAR. Originally from San Diego, Jeff has always had a strong passion for the sea, enjoying a 3 year 18,000 nautical mile cruise aboard his own sailboat RENAISSANCE, from San Diego, California to Annapolis, Maryland and back with 2 transits of the Panama Canal. In addition, he has raced competitively aboard numerous classes of sailboats including two 2,300 nautical mile double-handed races from San Diego to Hawaii...winning the 1991 race aboard PRIMA. In younger, crazier days, Jeff and two of his close friends took off ona 31 day adventure each single handling their Hobie Catamarans the entire 1000 mile west coast of Baja California from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, camping on the beach every night. Jeff is married to Gina, and they have a new addition to their family, Zachary, born in July 2004. Their home is in the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area.
Chef FILIPPO PARADISO, age 40, Italian, born in Milano, Italy, now makes his home in St. Martin, in the French West Indies. Filippo is truly a man of the world, having traveled extensively throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America, and the Caribbean. He is fluent in Italian, French, Spanish and English. He graduated from the Instiuto Professionale Alberhiero in Milano, Italy and continued studies in Hotel and Restaurant Management in London. He has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, both in and out of the yaching scene. His specialty is Italian and French cuisine, but is equally comfortable in working the vegetarian and healthy lifestyle diets. Filippo is also well versed in Spanish, Caribbean and Asian cooking. You will find FIlippo to be a very versatile chef, and equally entertaining and enjoyable to be around. He loves to play tennis, and when possible, spend time with his wife Sandra and 3 year old son, Sascha.
