Gladius offers luxury accommodations for up to 10 guests in 5 staterooms comprising of 1 master cabin, 2 double cabins, and 2 twin cabins (each with a pullman). Every cabin has its own luxury en-suite bathroom. The Master suite features a king size bed, a flat screen TV, a walk-in closet with a safe and an en-suite marble bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath and a large shower. She is also capable of carrying up to 7 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Gladius is a 38.70m motor yacht built in 2007 by Cantieri di Pisa. This luxury vessel's sophisticated exterior design and engineering are the work of Cantieri di Pisa. The yacht underwent a massive refit in 2016 including all new interior, new bedding, new audio/visual package, addition of a TV and Jacuzzi to the sun deck, and new wave runners, just to name a few. The new interior is sleek and contemporary. Neutral tones with accents of color make the yacht feel relaxing and spa like.

This semi custom Akhir 125 planing yacht is equipped with an ultra-modern stabilization system which reduces roll motion effect and results in a smoother more enjoyable cruising experience. She features at anchor stabilizers which work at zero speed to increase onboard comfort at anchor and on rough waters.

The massive sun deck is the perfect venue for lounging in the sun, taking a dip in the Jacuzzi, or enjoying evening drinks at the wet bar. The sun deck is also equipped with BBQ grill and removable sun shades for added sun protection. Nothing has been overlooked.

CAPTAIN | Steven Foster

Previous Yachts: M/Y Kampai, M/Y Butterfly, M/Y Monaco, M/Y Gladiator, M/Y Excellence III, M/Y Excellence V Biography: Steve is from Albany in the SW of Western Australia. He was born and raised on a farm before discovering his true passion lay on the world’s oceans. He began his education at a maritime college, which initiated an early career on fast ferries before discovering the exciting world of yachting. With more than 16 years as a professional in the industry you are in safe and capable hands. He has extensive experience in managing, operating and maintaining yachts to a high level on vessels up to 280ft. His goal is to ensure you have an enjoyable and memorable trip on Gladius.

CHIEF STEWARDESS | Nina Thomas

Previous Yachts: S/Y Thoron 47’, M/Y America Pride 125’, M/Y Katya 151’

Biography: Nina is originally from South Africa, but left at a young age to go sailing with her family where she had the privilege of completing a trans-Atlantic crossing, and extensive travel around the Caribbean. She has also sailed the eastern seaboard of the United States. During her eight-year stay in England working in the hospitality industry, she gained experience in both restaurants, a boutique wine & sushi bar, and as a property manager/housekeeper of a private country home. Nina has a keen interest in the sciences & completed a BSc. (Hons) Physiotherapy in 2013. After graduating, she decided to join the super yacht industry, and enrolled at UKSA on the Isle of Wight, Cowes to complete the necessary training. Nina has recently joined M/Y Gladius and looks forward to many new adventures with guests aboard. Nina is both musical and enjoys beautiful and elegant things, and a refined life, which she hopes to share with you on your travel adventures together aboard our charters. 

Qualifications: UKSA Superyacht Interior Foundation, Elite Bartending School Certification, STCW 95, CIEH Award in Food Safety, BSc. Physical Therapy.Waters Cruised: Trans-Atlantic from South Africa, Caribbean, North & South US East Coast, North US West Coast, Cuba.

Hobbies: Her interests include travelling, reading, history/art, music, inline skating, hiking, & snorkelling.


SECOND STEWARDESS | Marin McGill

Biography: Marin hails from the Great North otherwise known as Canada. She went to Florida for the first time at the age of 6 and fell in love with the South. After working in Human Resources Marin decided to join the yachting industry in 2011, and flew straight to the Caribbean. In between working on super yachts Marin went to New Zealand and obtained a degree as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist before returning to work on yachts full time again. In her spare time you can find her reading, working out, or playing in the water.

Qualifications: STCW 95, PADIOpen Water Diver, Dental Hygienist/Therapist, WSET Level 1 & 2 WineQualifications

CHEF | Renee Dreyer

Biography: Reneé is from Cape Town, South Africa. Her Education was within Public relations and she has also studied and gained a diploma in Culinary Arts. Reneé is a well-travelled individual spending a year in Thailand and two years in the Middle East. Prior to yachting Reneeé worked as an Air Hostess for Qatar Airways. Since then, starting in yachting in 2011, she has always been involved with the cooking aspect from cook/stew to Sous Chef and now Chef on Motor Yacht Gladius. “You only live once and if you live it right then once is enough” Reneé lives by and with her enthusiastic and upbeat personality, is always looking to the positive side of life. 

Qualifications: BA Public Relations, Diploma Culinary Arts, Yoga Instructor.Waters Cruised: Lower East Coast USA, New England, Bahamas, Caribbean, Pacific Islands, Australia & SE Asia. 

Hobbies: Cooking, Travelling, Diving, snorkeling and hiking. 

FIRST MATE | Jean-Claude Du Plessis

Biography: Jean-Claude grew up in the coastal city of Durban South Africa, his devotion to physical fitness and enjoyment of sports led him to become a semi- professional rugby player. Fueled by a love for adrenaline water sports, he is a keen wake boarder, swimmer and water polo player. As first mate this is something JC (as we affectionately know him) would like to offer to guests enjoying the numerous water toys aboard M/Y Gladius. After a few years in the industry however, JC is not only familiar with yachting but also to the aviation world, where he is in the process of completing a helicopter pilots license. His hands on approach to maintaining and managing the deck department, has been honed through hard work, a cheerful approach and a happy personality with a “can do” attitude. He has worked his way up from humble beginnings as a deckhand, through 3 years on Superyachts travelling the west coast of the USA extensively as well as Alaska. A person of strong principle and huge eagerness to learn all aspects of yachting, maintenance and navigation – JC welcomes you aboard M/Y Gladius.

Qualifications: PYT Yachtmasters Off-Shore, Helicopter PPL, Sports Management.

Waters Cruised: North & South US West Coast, Panama Canal, Caribbean, Cuba, North and South US East Coast.

ENGINEER |Scott Davies

Previous Yachts: M/Y Solemar 203’

Biography: Scott our engineer, was born and raised in Johannesburg South Africa, whereupon finding his aptitude for mechanics he relocated to the coastal city of Cape Town to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. This suited his love for watersports, where he partook in deep sea fishing, swimming, water polo and diving – which he then took to rescue diver level. Scott’s combination of training in engineering, and ocean experiences, then got him into the world of yachts and yacht engines. He recently completed an extensive Eastern and Western Mediterranean season visiting 14 countries. His hard work ethic, mechanical background, and love for things being in tip top working order - makes him passionate about learning the many aspects of yachting mechanics. Scott’s desire to travel and experience culture, while working in a methodical, technical field, makes him the perfect candidate to head up the M/Y Gladius engineering department.Scott’s interests include outdoor activities, ocean sports in all forms and rugby. 

Qualifications: BSc. Mechanical Engineering, AEC, STCW 95, PADI – Rescue Diver, PBL2.
