ILITHYIA Crew Profile

Harley Florence and April Kern

Harley and April have worked as a team for 5 years and have travelled most of the globe on a variety of boats, taking them to far reached cruising grounds and across many oceans. They both have strong sailing skills and their enthusiasm and commitment will ensure you have an enjoyable and relaxed holiday

Harley was born in New Zealand but had a wanderlust for travel and discovery. This had him traveling in Europe and the Americas, before joining his father on what would become a circumnavigation on the family boat. Developing very strong sailing skills and a huge respect for the ocean, 3 years of cruising and a strong engineering background launched him into the professional side of yachting.

The past 7 years and 100 000 miles as a captain has taken him to many corners of the globe and exotic places especially in the Pacific Ocean. His calm personality and his ability to overcome any obstacle will ensure a pleasant and enjoyable vacation. Harley has a passion for surfing, diving and fishing and so may be able to add fresh fish to the dinner table.

April grew up in California before moving to Guam, Micronesia; she worked on dive and daytrip boats both on deck and below water as a diver. Living on here own boat she enjoyed all the benefits of working and living on the sea. Offered to assist on longer deliveries she decided to work professionally on boats and acquired her USCG 100t Captains license. As professional boat crew she has worked on large superyachts both power and sail, on deck, interior and as a chef. This diversity allows her to shine in all areas. Completing culinary training in Spain and having cooked for owners and guests with dietary preferences and restriction, she has developed a strong menu plan to suit anybody.

April and Harley look forward to welcoming you onboard Ilithyia and will cater how you wish to spend your vacation, either relaxing with friends or family or exploring the surroundings always endeavoring to make this a lasting memory .
