JAMBALAYA Crew Profile

Captain Peter Bennett
Peter, who hails from the UK, bought his first boat at the age of 26. After many adventures sailing the rocky shores of Western Europe, he set off on a five-year circumnavigation of the world relying on his celestial navigation skills to show him the way – this was before the days of GPS technology. Crossing the Atlantic his first land fall was the tropical islands of the West Indies. Peter transited the Panama Canal and sailed on to the South Seas, meeting the rough waters of New Zealand and the calm of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. When all was said and done and thousands of miles had passed beneath his keel the Caribbean kept calling him back.
With his extensive experience, matched with his formal sailing qualifications, Peter considers the Caribbean to be the best holiday sailing location.
Chef Sylvie Bennett
Sylvie, is passionate about providing the best service and is a talented cook. Born in France, she has brought with her many French-cuisine recipes and has adapted them for local products: she will keep you well fed with her French flair for Creole and Caribbean specialties!
Besides her passion for cooking, Sylvie is also a qualified Indian Head masseuse and will be delighted to provide you with a massage on board Jambalaya! Sylvie speaks French, English and Spanish.
JAMBALAYA Testimonials
JA JAMBALAYA guest comments
(The broker) described the boat nicely. In 1993 I was a race crew member of a yacht that won the IYLA World Cup, I've been lucky enough to be onboard some of the finest yachts in the world. Jambalaya is a worthy competitor to every one of them based on type of vessel for the service and the extraordinary attention of the crew.
When we charter next, we'll be going back to Jambalaya, Peter, & Sylvie. I can't wait to turn on our friends to them.
Answers to broker’s questionnaire:
Accommodations: Perfect for us, 2 couples, but a third couple would be fine.
Captain: Peter was very competent and had a great deal of local knowledge.
Planning each day’s activities: We deferred to the knowledge of the Captain which was exactly the way to go.
Describe the meals: The meals were served on our schedule, perfectly prepared and there was plenty to eat and drink. Sylvie was excellent in her diversity, quality and quantity.

“Sylvie and Peter, you made us have an unforgettable time on Jambalaya sailing from Carriacou to the Tobago Cays. During our comfortable stay in the spacious cabin, Sylvie pampered us with the most delicious meals and we were shown exciting spots in the Tobago Cays by our warn-hearted hosts, like the island Baradel where we went snorkelling to see big turtles. We felt very safe on board and will never ever forget our 4-day-trip on Jambalaya! We hope to come back soon!”
- Gabi & Robert (January 2012)

- Christine & Jean-Paul (December 2011)
“Signing up for an unknown sailing adventure was somewhat intimidating. On the first day we knew all was well. The week was too short hence next year the trip will be longer. Thanks for all your energy and care.”

- Serge and Marie (April 2011)
"This was the third time the four of us had chartered, but it was undoubtedly the best, due to a mix of great food, even better camaraderie and good sailing in some truly beautiful venues."
- Jeff and Jane (March 2011)

- Kip and Odette (March 2011)
"We had a marvellous week on Jambalaya where all our dreams of sailing came true. On board, we had from fresh captured tuna to hot Gratin Dauphinois, from fresh fruits for breakfast to French toast... everything we could long for and the excursions on the Islands brought us to tiny little restaurants with typical Caribbean food. It was a wonderful holiday that finished in an evening full of joy and laughter and we hope to come back on Jambalaya one day."
- Ruth and Herbie (January 2011)
"In a word..fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed our sailing trip to Bequia, Mustique, Union and Mayreau Islands in the Grenadines, meeting some very interesting and entertaining characters along the way! Peter and Sylvie were simply awesome from start to finish, encouraging and teaching us how to sail and catering to our every need. And special mention to Sylvie who is a wizard in the kitchen as well as a helluva masseuse. Thanks again for a great sailing experience in the Grenadines!"
- Bill & Deborah (December 2010)

You two are the consummate guides and hosts and it was a delight to meet and hang out with you this past week... a bonus really. The tan may fade but the experience and memories I will always have. I look forward to meeting you again."
