JERI Crew Profile
Captain Alain's love of sailing led him to relocate to the Mediterranean coast to pursue his passion. He started his professional yachting career as a sailing instructor, receiving his Master Certificate of Competency in 1988 and subsequently doing his first Atlantic crossing that year. Over the past 15 years, Captain Alain has captained several charter yachts, primarily large catamarans in the Caribbean and hosted many happy guests. Captain Alain shares his passion for the Caribbean with his guests, and also ensures a seamless charter experience by being a charming host and knowledgeable tour guide.
Every charter party that experiences JERI raves about the cuisine, and some even ask Sophie if she would consider becoming their personal chef! Guests are often fascinated on how their culinary experience becomes an integral part of their charter!
Cooking has been a passion for Sophie since a very young age, a gift she perfected growing up in France. Sophie’s versatile cooking style is a combination of French cuisine with Caribbean flavors, perfected while living in the Caribbean for the past 6 years. Over the years Sophie has also developed her passion for sailing, successfully passing the Captain 200 certification. Quite simply, her exquisite cooking skills combined with her outgoing personality and passion for sailing makes Sophie a delight to have as chef and hostess! Sophie has a passion for French cuisine, however she can adapt to all requests including Vegan, and partial kosher (as some items are not readily available in the Caribbean).

BVI - JUNE 2012
We returned from our BVI cruise aboard Jeri on Monday and what a wonderful vacation we had! The boat was maintained impeccably and suited our needs perfectly. The spaciousness of the master cabin was unbelievable
What made this trip unique was how Sophie and Alain catered to our every wish. For example, my daughter said to ME that she was hungry. Sophie overheard her and immediately brought out a plate of cheese and crackers. How Sophie manages to turn out gourmet meals on a boat is amazing. Her cooking is superb, varied,and she always kept our dietary needs in mind.
Alain was always willing to sail and in addition to taking us wherever we wanted to go, he often had good suggestions regarding beaches and snorkeling. He gladly accompanied us with the dingy to make my husband feel more at ease when the snorkeling was not near the boat. He was happy to "talk" sailing with my husband and to explain some of the boat's systems to him.
Both Sophie and Alaine were warm and likeable and we enjoyed just visiting with them. We highly recommend Jeri and her crew to anyone who wants a 5 star sailing adventure.
Thank you for all your help and we are considering the possibility of a future charter, for 2 this time. We will certainly call you if we decide to pursue this idea.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Sophie and Alain are outstanding. They are such a hardworking crew! CREWED YACHT EVALUATION How did you enjoy your cruising vacation? This was definitely one of the most memorable trips any of us have ever had. We have all been on sailing trips or cruises, but this was by far the best! How would you describe your Captain and crew? Were they Courteous? Helpful? Friendly? Attentive? Knowledgeable? Sophie and Alain were the best crew. They made sure our every need or want was met. They were so attentive and pleasant, funny and had the best sense of humor. They were definitely a pleasure to be with. Tell me about your meals? Did the menus meet your expectations? Did your crew pay close attention to your Preference Sheets? Gosh, I don’t know where to begin with the meals. If I had one complaint it would be that there was too much food! Is that a complaint? Everything was delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. The table was always beautifully set. Sophie offered so many options that we felt we had to eat everything. I think we all gained 5 pounds. I know I did! The husbands are still looking for Sophie each night at dinner time. How is the yacht? Is she clean and well-maintained? Were your cabins comfortable? Was the cockpit comfortable? Was there enough shade? Everything was sparkling. Each day Sophie took care of cleaning our staterooms and making up the beds (even though I told her she really didn’t have to). Sheets and towels were changed mid-week. It was better than at home/ What did you like most about the yacht? What did you like the least? I think we would all agree that the size of the yacht was the best. It was perfect for 8 of us with the crew. There was enough room that each person could go their own separate way if they wanted time alone. The only thing we liked the least was that it was over way too soon. Would you charter this yacht again? If not, please explain: Absolutely. We are already talking about “next time”. We are thinking about going out of Guadeloupe/St Martin area since Sophie and Alain described that area so wonderfully to us. *** Sophie and Alain were so sweet! On our last night they did a special birthday dinner for Mike. They sent us up top while they decorate the dinner table extra special. After dinner they came out with a delicious chocolate birthday cake Sophie had made complete with “trick” blow out candles. We had the best time with them*** |

The trip on Jeri was an exceptional experience. The boat is great. It is aesthetically a joy- spacious, attractive & comfortable. The boat was always kept clean & orderly. The crew is phenomenal! Sophie is wonderful-a fantastic chef & a pleasant person. Alain is a very good captain & very witty. They are an additional pleasure to a great sailing vessel.

Katie, the weather was good, both rain and sunshine, but 100% better than last year. We had a fabulous time with Alain and Sophie. I can’t imagine you charter with a better crew. They are a delight to be with and work extremely hard to please. Of course the Jeri is first class. We plan on chartering again next year in the Grenadines. As soon as we decide on a date we will be in touch.

It was a wonderful vacation. Boat and crew were great! Captain Alain was fantastic! Always found the best spot in the bay and was extremely helpful and friendly. Sophie worked extremely hard in the galley. Meals were exquisite and tasty! She did a good job adapting to the needs of the two kids on board, while still doing the more elaborate creations for the adults. The yacht was fantastic! Everything was spotless and plenty of shade. It was great having two levels plus the trampoline area where Alain set up an additional sunshade. With eight of us plus crew, we all had plenty of room to spread out when we wanted some quiet time!The rooms and bathrooms (too nice to be called heads) were beautiful!

The meals were perfect with wonderful surprises thrown in! The boat was immaculate and Captain Alain was a wonderful balance of fun and professionalism with an infectious laugh that enthralled all of us!
All of us had previous sailing experience, but none of us were experts. Alain was patient and helpful at all times when we did sail the boat!
Sophie was an exceptional cook, first mate and all around sweet person. All 6 of us fell in love with her! Sophie is, in one word - "incredible"! Nothing but superlatives could be used to describe the crew - they were superb!

Our trip was absolutely amazing. All arrangements went smoothly from Dougie transporting us to and from the airport, to leaving the marina promptly, the comfort and luxury of the vessel, Alain's capable and easy going nature, Sophie's amazing multi-tasking capabilities and her gourmet meals. The weather was fabulous with the exception of the north swell which Alain successfully maneuvered around. We were blown away by the aquamarine water and the beautiful geography of the islands.
The trip was a wonderful five day celebration of my 50th birthday. I think my sister said it best: "The boat, food and surroundings were great but nothing could top the love & laughter." We have a lot of happy memories of our trip.
Thank you for coordinating everything so well and staying in close touch. Of course we are already planning the next trip to the Grenadines.

The yacht was beautiful with great beds! Alain and Sophie were great, they did whatever we wanted with limited recommendations, and took care to make sure we got quiet nights, good sails and fed us very well! “Our trip was wonderful. Alain & Sophie were superb. They were so friendly to all members of the family. We enjoyed getting to know both of them. Sophie besides being a fantastic cook also is great at sailing. Alain which we knew was a very experienced captain also knew the area and locals very well too. The boat was beautiful and very comfortable for our family. We were able to enjoy many islands and sailing between them was fantastic. The weather was great also. It was raining in St Lucia when we arrived and I know Alain & Sophie were worried if it would ever stop. Just a few showers the rest of the week and those were usually in the evening Thank you so much for arranging another great vacation for us. “

Alain was a great Captain. He was engaging and willing to meet all of our requests. Sophie was amazing and contributed very much so to the value and pleasure of the trip. She was an amazing chef. Every meal was an experience. The only criticism was that there was too much food!!!

Alain was a great skipper, nothing was too much trouble, he spent many hours on the dingy with kids skiing, wake boarding etc, etc. What a guy.
Sophie, was the ultimate hostess, her meals were nothing short of outstanding, and she worked tirelessly from very early in the morning to late in the evening ensuring that we wanted for nothing, and always with a smile on her face. Her culinary skills were quite remarkable.
It would remiss of me not to mention what a fantastic boat JERI is, we could find fault with nothing.
My family and I can hardly wait to go on vacation with this incredible team again.

Oh my stars! It was FABULOUS!!! Everyone was MORE than pleased with the entire trip. Susie couldn’t stop saying how this trip far exceeded her expectations. Everyone loves Sophie and wanted to pack her in our suitcases to bring home.
Alain and Sophie got person invitations from everyone of us to come visit us in Texas.
It was all fabulous. I’ve attached a couple of pics and once I get the entire pack of / pics assimilated, I’ll send you a copy.
We cannot say enough wonderful things about The Jeri and Alain and Sophie. We all committed to write wonderful comments on their web site and to let you know. I truly hope you recommend them to other clients – they will not be disappointed.
