Crew Profile

Captain: Allan Rayner

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Captain Allan joined his first yacht in Antibes, France ten years ago and never looked back. With a strong drive and focus he climbed the ranks quickly making him one of the youngest captains in the industry, obtaining his MCA Master 3000 license at just 28. He has circumnavigated the world on an exploration/research yacht, and has experience navigating the Caribbean, Europe, and North America as well as many less travelled areas around the globe. The safety of you and your guests are his number one priority and his experience ensures you are in very good hands.

Besides yachting, Captain Allan is an experienced fisherman, diver, wake boarder, and a passionate golfer.

First Officer: Jarryd Vermaak

Jarryd grew up on Durban beach in South Africa. He spent 6 years in hospitality and during that time assisted a successful cocktail bar progress into a franchise. He studied a Masters in Bartending, has a degree in marketing and also a Diploma in advertising/brand management. Jarryd started yachting in 2009 and since then he has completed five Atlantic crossings and sailed around the Caribbean, Bahamas, U.S.A, Mediterranean and the Gulf of Mexico. He has his Yacht Masters license and is currently working on his OOW. Jarryd enjoys scuba diving, surfing and long boarding.

Engineer: Robert Buchar

Robert Buchar hails from New Jersey, USA and currently holds a Y4 Engineering license from the MCA and a 100GT Captain’s license from the US Coast Guard. At the age of 24, Bobby moved to the beach and started working for his brother as a Marine Diesel Mechanic. This exposure resulted in a love for the ocean and a desire to become a full time Marine Engineer. Bobby quickly moved from being land based to working full time on boats- initially in design and construction for a boat building company out of New Jersey, and then joined a 75’ Viking Sports fish as Captain/ Engineer, cruising New York to South Florida from 2007 to 2010. Bobby has never looked back and has concentrated on his career as an Engineer---13 years in the business and has completed multiple trans-Atlantic crossings. Bobby enjoys fishing.

Chef: John Smith

From an early age John was destined for a career revolving around food due to cooking being an integral part of growing up; from ‘dot’ he started experimenting and developing his palate and understanding of food whilst helping his award winning chef father in the kitchen of their family home, a country house hotel; hard work and long hours are all he has ever known.

As a contrast to life in Wales, following university in Buckinghamshire his professional cooking career began within buzzing city centre restaurants in Manchester which enabled his true talents to be proficiently developed and nurtured. Over the years he has worked with highly acclaimed UK chefs including Michelin* Michael Caine and Simon Rogan; and most favourably Sweden’s 2* Bjorn Frantzén and Daniel Lindeberg. A key highlight of his desire to succeed within his career in the earlier days was via competing in a unique experience: BBC television series ‘MasterChef the professionals’ which involved personally cooking for Michel Roux whilst reaching the quarter final stages.

After entering the super yacht industry over 5 years ago onboard well-known charter yachts such as Odessa, Andromeda la Dea, Helios, Samadhi, Latitude and Seven Sins, he has now acquired all industry-specific skills and adapted to life onboard. John’s personality is personable, friendly, fun and engaging with an easy going nature, although he considers himself highly energetic and enjoys keeping active whenever work schedules allow.

Chief Stewardess: Juliane Von Prondzinsky

Juliane grew up in Berlin, Germany with a love for travelling and foreign languages. She went on an exchange student program at age 16 to California and later on studied International Tourism Management in Birmingham, United Kingdom, where she graduated with a Master of Arts. She joined the yachting industry in 2007 and since then has been working on busy charter yachts. Juliane enjoys art and photography, but is also of a sporty nature. Juliane will surprise you with fun theme night parties, beautiful table decorations and is dedicated to making your stay as pleasant and unforgettable as possible.

Stewardess: Rachael Robertson

Rachael was born and raised in George, South Africa. After finishing high school she decided to pursue a career in the yachting industry. Two years later she returned to South Africa to assist her parents in opening a microbrewery in her hometown. Now she’s back in yachting and excited about her new adventures on Lady J. Rachael loves baking, hiking, cycling and volunteer work. She has volunteered in an outreach program helping schools and the elderly in Swaziland. She loves to travel and enjoys experiencing different cultures around the world.

Stewardess: Char Bennett

Char (Charlotte) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland where she obtained degrees in Visual Communication and Book Publishing. After university she lived in Australia working and traveling, and from there she found her way into yachting through an old school friend. She has been doing it almost two years now and loving every minute! Throughout university and her travels Char worked in hospitality, and specializes in bartending. She looks forward to making you feel very welcome, and utilizing her talents to delight you with exciting new drinks and old favorites alike!

In her free time Char enjoys diving, sailing, reading, and writing a travel blog.

Bosun: Brent Burrows II

Brent was born and raised in the island nation of The Bahamas, spending a lot of his time on the water. He went on to study Business Administration at the College of Charleston where he raced with their offshore sailing team- winning a national championship along the way. During his time in school he studied abroad in over 15 countries. He had a strong desire to continue his love of travel and being on the water, which led a new adventure in joining Lady J in 2015 as deckhand. Brent has his Yachtmaster, is a licensed sailing instructor, and has a strong interest in fishing and kiteboarding.

Deckhand: Zach Fenner

Zach hails from the historic city of Atlanta, Georgia and is one brother of quadruplets! After enjoying boarding school, he has lived for several years in both Florida and the Bahamas where you would usually find him in the water freediving or fishing. After studying towards a hospitality degree at university, Zach came across yachting through some friends in Florida and found that he could combine his love for the sea and hospitality into one career. Zach is a big fan of football and baseball, and fiercely supports his home team the Atlanta Braves!

ON DECK MASTER STATEROOM: Forward. Upon entering, there is an office to starboard and a small drinks refrigerator. The master stateroom is full beam with walk-around king size bed, sofa, and vanity. There are two separate entrances to the en-suite his-and-hers bathroom with twin sinks. His with stall shower, hers with Jacuzzi tub. Private head. Entertainment system featuring 27” flat screen TV/DVD/CD with individual satellite receiver, and iPod docking station. Large windows create abundant natural light in the Master Stateroom if desired. Complete blackout option is also available.
