Crew Profile

CAPTAIN – Stephen Bay
Captain Stephen Bay hails from the Fiji Islands and was educated in New Zealand and the University of the South Pacific. Stephen developed an affinity for the ocean from a young age and has been involved in the Marine Industry all his adult life. He is certified with a 3,000 GT license from the MCA and has worldwide experience on yachts, fishing and dive charter vessels and has cruised South Pacific, Asian, North and Central American, Caribbean and European waters since 1997. Stephen’s enthusiasm for the yacht charter industry coupled with a strong affiliation for the areas in which he travels makes him a hospitable and confident guide.

FIRST OFFICER – Jarryd Vermaak
Jarryd grew up on Durban beach in South Africa. He spent 6 years in hospitality and during that time assisted a successful cocktail bar progress into a franchise. He studied a Masters in Bartending, has a degree in marketing and also a Diploma in advertising/brand management. Jarryd started yachting in2009 and since then he has completed five Atlantic crossings and sailed around the Caribbean, Bahamas, U.S.A, Mediterranean and the Gulf of Mexico. He has his Yacht Masters license and is currently working on his OOW. Jarryd enjoys scuba diving, surfing and long boarding.

ENGINEER – Robert Buchar
Robert Buchar hails from New Jersey, USA and currently holds a Y4 Engineering license from the MCA and a 100GT Captain’s license from the US Coast Guard.  At the age of 24, Bobby moved to the beach and started working for his brother as a Marine Diesel Mechanic.  This exposure resulted in a love for the ocean and a desire to become a full time Marine Engineer. Bobby quickly moved from being land based to working full time on boats- initially in design and construction for a boat building company out of New Jersey, and then joined a 75’ Viking Sports fish as Captain/ Engineer, cruising New York to South Florida from 2007 to 2010. Bobby has never looked back and has concentrated on his career as an Engineer---13 years in the business and has completed multiple trans-Atlantic crossings. Bobby enjoys fishing.

CHIEF STEWARDESS – Danielle Pia Jones
Danielle was born and raised on the Gold Coast of Australia. After working in hospitality for several years her passion for travelling steered her in the direction of the ocean, where she entered the world of yachting. Danielle completed a diploma in business management and marketing she has also attended various wine and bar tending courses. In Danielle’s spare time she enjoys photography, fashion, culinary arts, holds a dive certificate and has an interest in health and wellbeing. Danielle’s passion for people and love of hospitality has drawn her to Lady J where she ensures that you will have a warm, comfortable, and unforgettable stay onboard.

STEWARDESS – Rachael Robertson
Rachael was born and raised in George, South Africa.  After finishing high school she decided to pursue a career in the yachting industry. Two years later she returned to South Africa to assist her parents in opening a microbrewery in her hometown. Now she’s back in yachting and excited about her new adventures on Lady J. Rachael loves baking, hiking, cycling and volunteer work.  She has volunteered in an outreach program helping schools and the elderly in Swaziland. She loves to travel and enjoys experiencing different cultures around the world.


Lauryn wasborn in Las Vegas and raised into a military family that enabled her toexperience many different cultures and fueled her passion to travel. After eventually settling in England she gained adegree in Global Development with Peace and Conflict Studies. Lauryn began hercarrier on sailboats and expanded her love for working at sea onto motoryachts. Lauryn has a love for creativity and design, and also likes to keepactive with anything from hiking to kickboxing and kite surfing

BOSUN – Markus Johansson
Markus was born and raised in a small town in Sweden. Straight after school he did his military service in the amphibious corpse in Sweden as a combat boat driver and navigator. Later, in 2008 Markus joined the yachting industry. During this time Markus has done several Atlantic crossings and travelled to many different countries on yachts, such as Alaska. He recently took a year off from the industry to pursue his dream of becoming a commercial helicopter pilot. He hopes that one day he will be landing a helicopter on a yacht. Markus is a big fan of music; it is not very often that you will find him without music close by. When Markus is not working he enjoys many different kinds of watersports but also enjoys skiing in the winter. 

DECKHAND – Brent Burrows
Brent was born and raised in the Island nation of the Bahamas. He grew up on and around the water, either cruising the many Islands or racing sailboats. Having spent his younger years teaching under privileged kids how to sail. Brent then went on to study Business Administration at the College of Charleston where he raced with their offshore sailing team. After completing his studies he had a desire to continue being on the water and started a new adventure on yachts.

CHEF– Ben Dineen
Ben hailing from Dublin, Ireland will be your chef on-board the luxury Motor Yacht Lady J. Ben started cooking at the age of 16 in a popular French restaurant in a South Dublin seaside town. Going on to complete a three-year apprenticeship through Ireland’s foremost culinary college while at the critically acclaimed Michelin starred “L’Ecrivain” restaurant. The chef/proprietor then sent Ben to work on an investor’s yacht for a season in the Mediterranean, which gave Ben a taste for the industry. Ben then took off to Tokyo for a year to work in “Restaurant Gordon Ramsay @ The Conrad Hotel” while they strive for their first Michelin star in the Tokyo guide. Since then, Ben has spent over five years on various luxury vessels throughout the Caribbean, Bahamas, Mediterranean and North Eastern US waters. Ben specializes in Classical French and Italian cuisines and has a great understanding, respect, and love for authentic ethnic cuisines such as Indian, Thai and Mexican.


ON DECK MASTER STATEROOM: Forward. Upon entering, there is an office to starboard and a small drinks refrigerator. The master stateroom is full beam with walk-around king size bed, sofa, and vanity. There are two separate entrances to the en-suite his-and-hers bathroom with twin sinks. His with stall shower, hers with Jacuzzi tub. Private head. Entertainment system featuring 27” flat screen TV/DVD/CD with individual satellite receiver, and iPod docking station. Large windows create abundant natural light in the Master Stateroom if desired. Complete blackout option is also available.

AFT TO PORT: Situated mid-ships. Walk-around queen-sized bed. En-suite features tub with shower overhead, sink, bidet and head. Entertainment system featuring 20” flat screen TV/DVD/CD.
