LADY J Crew Profile

Captain: Greg Russell
Greg is originally from Zimbabwe and after leaving school, worked and studied Marine Biology in Cape Town, South Africa. After returning to Zimbabwe, Greg pursued life as a tobacco farmer, where he gained many of the skills necessary today in running and managing a large team. Political issues forced Greg to leave Zimbabwe, so he traveled the globe before stumbling on a life-changing trip across the Atlantic in 1989 and has never looked back. His education includes a Diploma in Agriculture from Blackfordby College, Zimbabwe. Along with his 500T MCA license, Greg's experience and confidence exudes onboard and he looks forward to meeting and exceeding his clients' expectations. He has logged more than 160,000 nautical miles with eight Trans-Atlantic crossings to his merit and is very familiar with all waters between Maine and Grenada and beyond. His most memorable trip is delivering an expedition yacht from Florida to St Petersburg, Russia having traveled through the English Channel, Kiel Canal, Stockholm, and into Russia.
First Officer – Ryan Bester
With 7 years and 6 Atlantic Crossings under his belt, Ryan’s time in the yachting industry has taken him far from his South African homeland and allowed him to immerse himself in some of his favorite aquatic activities. A certified rescue diver and jet ski instructor, Ryan spends as much time as possible in the water, whether it be above or below the surface. When he’s not working he is fond of working out; specifically training and conditioning for Muay Thai kickboxing in Thailand. His equally thorough knowledge and enjoyment of the water ensures that guests are always in good hands on Ryan’s watch.
Chief Engineer – Martin Killeen
Martin grew up in the tranquil lakeside village of Mangakino, New Zealand. He caught the travel bug early on and at age 15 he joined the navy, where he spent 6 years as a Paramedic, touring the Indian Ocean to the Far East. His passion for solo adventuring led him to Greece soon after, where the yachting industry sparked his interest and gave way to 4 seasons in the Med, 4 Atlantic crossings, 2 Pacific crossings and 15 years as an Engineer. A music and rugby enthusiast, the perpetual hum of Martin's iPod is a constant companion to the engines he keeps so well-tuned.
Chef: Julie MacNab
Chef Julie MacNab has been in the yachting industry for twelve years and as such has built up a professional reputation and a wide range of cuisines.
Residing in Scotland, she attained a degree in Marine Biology, which introduced her to the yachting world and chose to become a yacht chef. Formally trained in French Cuisine at the Westminster Cordon Bleu School, London, she gained her Master Chef Diploma at Escoffier School in the Ritz Hotel, Paris in 2000.
Her specialties are seafood and light healthy cuisine. Julie has worked on many large private and charter yachts including Talitha G, Meduse, Queen M and Intuition II.
Offering an extensive range of cuisine, ranging from French, Italian, Mediterranean, to Asian and Eastern cuisines, she will cater for every individual taste and dietary requirement to the highest standard with an enthusiasm that comes with the love of creating dishes for the enjoyment and wellbeing for all onboard.
She has also taken advantage of her extensive travels to persue her love of photography and painting and to spend time in Scotland.
Bosun: Jasmine Farr
Jasmine was born in Mallorca, Spain, where she spent her first 3 years, although grew up in the coastal town of Marmaris, Turkey. Living on the beach and being the daughter of a Captain, Jasmine felt the allure of the sea from a young age. She studied Tourism and Hotel Management for 2 years in University and in her last year she had an opportunity to work on a yacht which began her new career. Jasmine has 6 years' experience in yachting in which time she has obtained her Yacht Master & Rescue Diving. She is working towards a future as a captain.
Chief Stewardess: Marien Sarriera
