Douglas Wernick Captain
Captain Doug is originally from Boston, Massachusetts, where he grew up exploring the coast of New England from Cape Cod to Maine. After living and going to school in New York City, he decided to pursue a career at sea. For the last 13, years Doug has been cruising worldwide onboard many of the world’s most prestigious vessels. Doug has a 1600 ton unlimited US Coastguard License and a 3000 ton unlimited international Captains license. He has extensive knowledge and experience in traveling the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Bahamas, Caribbean and the coast of New England. Doug is extremely resourceful and believes that there is no request too great or challenge that cannot be met. The expectations of the guests onboard Lady Joy are what motivate him and his crew. Doug is dedicated to ensuring that your experience onboard Lady Joy is unique to other yachts and memorable for all who come aboard.
Ricardo Hischnjakow Engineer
Ricardo hails from Eltigre, Venezuela and studied at the Instituto Nacional De La Marina Mercante (University of the Caribbean) from 1992 to 1997. He began his marine career working on container ships and then on oil tankers. In 2006, Ricardo joined the yachting industry where he feels that every day brings a new challenge that he is willing to take on. He is available around the clock for any questions, and you are always welcome to visit the engine room. Ricardo is very proud of his domain.
Kaloyan Penchev aka Ben First Mate
Kaloyan Penchev (Ben) grew up in Bulgaria and straight after school he joined the Navy. From 1998 through 2003, Ben worked on cargo ships and consequently joined the cruise ship industry where he worked as a 1st officer(Safety Officer) onboard several six-star cruise vessels. He is highly qualified in his field and has many years of worldwide cruising experience. Ben has proven to be a knowledgeable and enthusiastic individual with great passion for his job. In late 2011, he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was offered a position with Lady Joy. He looks forward to ensuring that all guests have a memorable and enjoyable stay.
Pamela Mc Grath Head Chef
Is a native New Yorker and loves the city life as much as any true Manhattan girl. As much as she loves the city, she has a true passion for food and loves what she does. A seasoned chef with over ten years on various yachts such as COPASETIC, STATUS QUO, CHEVY TOY, and CAROBELLE has taken her all over the world including Canada, USA, Caribbean and Bahamas. She holds degrees from both the Culinary Institute of America and the Ecole Ritz Escoffier in Paris. Pamela specializes in healthy fresh ingredients and everything is made from scratch. From hors deouvres to a formal dinner to a midnight snack, her culinary delights will tantalize even the most discerning taste buds.
Caroline Rusher Chief Stewardess
Hails from Vancouver Island, British Columbia and just like most Canadians, is known for her friendliness and easy-going nature. She has worked on yachts for the past 4 years on such yachts as DREAM, PERLE BLEUE, MUSE, GALE WINDS, SAVANNAH, SCHNUPSI, and S/Y CALABRIA and has been trained to the highest standards as a stewardess and deckhand. From an exciting shore excursion, to a beautiful dinner under the stars, to a relaxing cocktail on the sundeck, Caroline will be there every step of the way to help you have a vacation of a lifetime. Caroline is also a certified PADI Scuba instructor and would love to help you get started on a diving adventure. Special requests are her specialty, from a helicopter ride over to St Kitts, to a sun-soaked private island beach picnic, please use your imagination and the Lady Joy team will be happy to bring it to life for you.
Neal Hall Bosun
Neal is from Stutterheim, South Africa. After completing his studies in Cape Town, he set off to travel the world and worked in various fields including photography. Neal has always been an avid sailor and the lure of the sea brought him to the Caribbean where he began his Maritime studies. Neal is a keen sportsman, diver and enjoys a variety of water sports.
Nadine Coronado Macho 2nd Stewardess
Nadine comes from a Spanish family, who immigrated to Germany when she was a child. There she studied hotel management and tourism but always longed to live by the sea. When the opportunity arose to bring her knowledge on to a “floating hotel,” she jumped at the chance and joined the cruise ship industry. Loving every moment, she refined her skills providing exquisite service to guests. Being around the ocean ignited her passion for marine life and the underwater world. From there, she decided to pursue her education and become a scuba diving instructor. With her “Yes-I-Can” attitude, she brings a very high level of personalized service and guest satisfaction. Lady Joy offers her the opportunity to combine her love for the ocean with a career in hospitality. Through her extensive globetrotting and love of travel, she has become fluent in Spanish, German, English, French and Italian. In her leisure time she can be found either waterskiing, swimming or partaking in a hot yoga class.
Rachel Petersen Stewardess
A true Floridian, born and raised, Rachel is known for her southern hospitality, and will always greet you with a smile. She joined yachting after going to University of Florida. She is an experienced stewardess who has travelled throughout the Mediterranean and Florida/ Bahamas. From that extra special chocolate to an extravagant romantic champagne for two at turndown, Rachel will help you feel pampered and relaxed for your stay on Lady Joy. She is excited to join the team and is here to make your trip as enjoyable as possible. In her free time, Rachel loves exploring new places and going on adventures.
Kerry Smithers Stewardess
Kerry was born and raised in the Cape winelands of South Africa. After school, she went to London for a year working in the hospitality industry and afterwards, returned home to study marketing. Her keen desire for travel, adventures and learning about different cultures led to her first job at sea onboard a six-star luxury vessel cruising the Mediterranean. Kerry then traveled to America and joined the yachting industry. She enjoys water sports, sky diving, kayaking, swimming and fishing and looks forward to making sure that all guests have a wonderful stay with the best possible service aboard Lady Joy.
Lior Beser Deckhand
Lior Beser was born in Israel, but at an early age he and his family moved to Antwerp, Belgium. Growing up in Europe, he quickly became fluent in French, Dutch, English and of course his mother tongue, Hebrew. At the age of eighteen, Lior returned to Israel and made his career in scuba diving. This opportunity allowed him to travel the world while experiencing new cultures and meeting amazing people. His love for boats quickly became apparent, and he decided to join the yachting industry. Lior is always keen to introduce our guests to the wonders of the underwater world, but be warned: his passion for the ocean is contagious!
Arno Pohl DeckHand
Arno hails from Polokware, South Africa, and came to Europe looking to begin his career in the yachting industry. Lady Joy quickly snapped up this hardworking, enthusiastic young man. Arno loves every aspect of the ocean and will be on-hand to help our guests partake in all the water toys and facilities available onboard. Arno is a keen diver and fisherman whose enthusiasm is infectious.
Reginald Barry Deckhand
Reginald joins The Lady Joy from the countryside of South Africa after finishing his undergrad in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch. He enjoys spending time with DIY projects, engineering design and solving problems. Reggie is always willing to help guests find their adventurous side, whether it be learning to bodyboard or giving them that little pep talk to jump off the one of the upper decks of the yacht. He is handy with electronics and will be there to troubleshoot your computer woes if needed. He also enjoys traveling and has spent time in Netherlands, Belgium, USA, all over Africa and is always thinking of the next best place to check out. Reginald has experience in wine tastings and enjoys endurance mountain biking and snowboarding
