ALBERT RODRIGUEZ - Captain• US Citizen, Languages spoken: English and Spanish, Non Smoking, Non Drinker•
Captain Albert, as he is known in the industry, is a highly experienced captain with extensive cruising experience onboard all types of vessels including luxury yachts, sport fishing yachts, sailing catamarans and passenger ferries. Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Captain Albert was practically born on the water, and from early age was brought up cruising the waters of the Caribbean, which included: The Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, the Spanish Virgin Islands, the US Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, the Windward Islands and the Leeward Islands onboard the multiple sport fishing yachts his father owned to this day. After obtaining his first Captain’s License of 50 tons in 1998, he began running sport fishing and sailing catamarans charter boats during the day and 200 passenger ferries at night. After a couple of years, he obtained an upgrade on his license of 200 tons and moved on to delivering new yachts from US factories to their new owners in the Caribbean and Costa Rica on which he would at the end of the delivery provide the new captains with a proper orientation and hand over of their new yacht. During this time he extended his cruising experience to the waters of the US, including the North and Southeast Coast, East and West Coast of Florida, The Bahamas, Mexico, Panama Canal, Panama and Costa Rica. The Majority of his Superyachts charter experience was obtained onboard a 120’ Hargrave Custom Motor Yacht “La Vida”, a 141’ Trinity Motor Yacht “Big City” and currently on the 164’ Trinity Motor Yacht , “Amarula Sun”.Over the last eleven years, Captain Albert has run private/charter motor yachts, ranging from 85 footers up to 164 footers. He holds a license of 3,000 Tons/Oceans endorsement. He looks forward to welcoming charter guests aboard and ensuring a safe and fun environment.

Matt “Gator” Barrette - First Mate
Matt grew up in a small town in Emeryville, Ontario Canada. Spent his childhood outdoors engaging in many sports, hunting and also a lot of ice hockey. He joined the air cadets at age 13 and learnt to fly gliders and single engine Cessna airplanes. His goals were to join the air force and be a fighter pilot but then took a job in yachting after his sister recommended him for an engineering position and from then on he was hooked to working on the water and everything yachting had to offer. Matt worked on a multiple super yachts including M/Y Thirteen, M/Y Pangaea, M/Y Stellar and a dive boat M/Y Save our Seas. His passion to be at sea had brought him to crossed the Atlantic, traveled the American east coast and to Cape Town and the Seychelles.

Robert Wolfe - Chief Engineer
Robert has been a licensed engineer for 10 years. He currently holds a chief engineer, unlimited HP, 3rd A/E license with a USCG. Robert is also a USCG licensed captain as well as a PADI Dive Master. Robert was born and raised in the nations oldest city, St. Augustine, Fl. He has carried on the family heritage of life at sea. The early part of his career was spent on live aboard dive boats and high adventure fishing expeditions. Robert has developed a deep passion for scuba diving and underwater photography and loves to share his photography and stories.

Matthew “Squirrel” McKenzie - Bosun
Squirrel hails from the Great of Kansas. He developed a love for the water, boating and water sports at a young age, thanks to a family lake house. After hearing all the adventures from his brother-in-law who works as a chief engineer on yachts, he was intrigued and decided to leave the Midwest to start a career in yachting. Squirrel will work extremely hard to ensure the guests have the best and most pleasant stay possible.

Luke Landi - Deckhand
Luke grew up in the breathtakingly scenic state of Montana, U.S.A. After working hard in the oil industry Luke set out to experience the world. He embarked on a two-year sailing tour through the British Virgin Islands and found himself working on motor yachts to support his trip. Through his travels, work experience and love of the outdoors, he has acquired a keen passion for photography, diving and fishing. Luke’s curiosity and drive for adventure shines through his work and extroverts with our guests!

Marien Sarriera - Chief Stewardess
Marien is from the “Enchanted Island of Puerto Rico” and has been in the industry for over eight years. She loves spreading health and consciousness everywhere she goes; being a certified yoga instructor and reflexologist encourages her to share her energy and passions. In her spare time she enjoys painting and is extremely passionate for being outdoors and active. It’s always her pleasure to make people happy & comfortable. With her experience and enthusiasm, Marién loves to go the extra mile to ensure that guests have a wonderful time on board M//Y Amarula Sun, leaving guests with extraordinary and memorable experiences.

Lizani Opperman - Second Stewardess
Born in Johannesburg and raised in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa, she worked as a hostess and promoter at various events, where she gained service experience. Before starting yachting she did a year of au-pairing, as she has a love for kids. Her strong passion for people and travel has drawn her to the yachting industry.After receiving her PADI Open water dive license, she has enjoyed accompanying vacationers in their experiences of diving various locations such as the caves in Mexico. Her passion and desire to give the highest level of service while maintaining a positive attitude, meets the objective of Amarula Sun’s crew to give the most memorable experience to their guests. During her spare time she enjoys photography, yoga, dancing, hiking, BBQs on the beach & quality time with her friends and family. 

Catherine “Cat” Finn - Third Stewardess
Cat was born and raised in a beautiful small coastal town in South Africa, named Knysna. This proved to be the perfect location for a family that enjoys spending time being active outdoors. During her schooling career, she discovered an interest in event planning and entertaining. Which after school she obtained a Bachelor’s of Commerce degree and a Post Grad Diploma in Sport Management. Eventually, her feet were itching to travel. Having many friends in both teaching and in the yachting industry she decided to give both a go. As a result, she spent a year teaching English and learning a new culture in South Korea before coming across to the States to join the yachting industry.After 6 months in the industry, she is still enjoying the spectacular blue waters and paradise islands the yachts explore. She values team-work and considers herself a happy and positive person, who will go out there to ensure the people around her are having the best vacation onboard.

Michael Mondor - Chef
Growing up in Montréal, Michael became accustomed to good food at a very young age with an eagerness to learn. By the age of 13, he was washing dishes and scrubbing pots & pans in some of the city’s finest restaurants of that time and gaining the confidence the city’s chefs de cuisine. Within a few years he had graduated to a cooks position and he blossomed from there. With the dirty water behind him he focused on becoming a chef. Michael now has over 30 years experience in the culinary industry globally, with the last 8 years being in yachting. He has held positions around the world and has a resume to boast it with stints in some of the most scenic places in the world from the Canadian Rocky mountains to the Dead Sea of Israel, there isn't a lot he hasn't done or seen. Michael holds a Canadian Red Seal certificate along with many other credentials and has worked as a chef at many top end restaurants in Canada. His yachting experience which has included high end charter yachts mixed with numerous Freelance and villa work, with a gentle nature and contagious laugh, makes Michael a great all round chef and a great addition to any yacht he has worked with. So drop by the galley for a chat with him, he’ll put a smile on your face especially if it involves hockey or food which you will soon find out he is very passionate about both.

The Master cabin has a king size bed, bath/tub, shower and toilet.

AMARULA SUN  is fully air conditioned through out.  This is a non-smoking vessel.  AMARULA SUN´s crew has a separate heads and shower. Guests are not allowed to bring pets onboard.
