MOONSTONE Crew Profile

Jaco grew up in the Wine Country of South Africa, around Stellenbosch. He eventually moved to Cape Town to pursue his love for the ocean with sailing on the famous Table Bay, where from the age of 18 he worked aboard a day-sail charter catamaran (for 4 years).  Jaco became a bit of a wanderer after that, but a wanderer with a purpose: He delivered newly-launched catamarans all over the world from the builder in Cape Town, to exotic destinations such as La Paz (Baja), Tortola, Croatia , Mallorca, and the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.  He has over 75,000 nautical miles of ocean crossings to his credit.  His career took him to a first mate’s position aboard a 100 ft sailing yacht, cruising around Germany, Denmark and Holland, and finally sailing the entire Mediterranean Sea during the summer, and 3 years ago, sailing from Cape Town back to the Med, eventually leaving Italy bound for the BVI.

Jaco’s very keen on watersports activities, and enjoys surfing, sailing, scuba diving and snorkeling, kitesurfing, and wakeboarding, and of course the latest craze - paddle boarding.  Anything to do with the ocean gives Jaco “an adrenalin rush”.

At nine years of age Jenny Muller was drawn to sailing in the beautiful sail filled Sydney Harbour.

– And so began her love of the sea –

After school, Jenny worked in Landscape Design, Swimming Teaching and Real Estate Marketing.

At twenty, Jenny’s dreams began to gravitate towards working on the water, and so her adventure began driving around Australia on a mission to find the most exciting and rewarding job opportunities on the sea.

Arriving in the Whitsundays on the Great Barrier Reef, she jumped at the opportunity to work onboard a 55ft ocean racing charter yacht, making the first giant leap into the professional world of yachting.  Two years later, Jenny continued driving to the other side of Australia where she became a ‘Whale Shark Spotter’, taking guests from all over the world swimming with Whale Sharks every day on the Western Australian coast.  Once the season came to an end, Jenny embraced the opportunity to sail with Youth at Risk onboard a 120ft Tall Ship on the Southern Ocean, as their Watch Leader.  She has earned her commercial captains licence and valuable seamanship skills to last a lifetime.

At college, Jenny perused a course in Hospitality, and this carried her into cooking onboard charter yachts. While she enjoys the broad spectrum of cuisine styles, she specialises in ‘Australian Mediterranean’ cuisine, and loves experimenting with local dishes in the Caribbean.

Enjoying sailing, diving, swimming, snorkelling, hiking, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, exploring natures little secrets, making music and dancing, Jenny is easily excited and eager to join the guests on their adventures whenever possible.

Charter guests will find Jenny is a joy to be on charter with, as you will see she absolutely loves what she does.  Her vibrant personality and delicious dishes are inspiring, and guests will love her amazing smile.
