About EROS

Operating in the East Coast of North America, Caribbean and Other Cruising Areas

Schooner 'EROS' is a classic beauty built in England in 1939 for the daughter and son-in-law of a British Lord. She was very soon after commandeered by the Royal Navy to participate in the famous evacuation at Dunkirk. After the war she became the private yacht of the first man internationally known as a billionaire, Stavros Niarchos, and she became well known in the Mediterranean yachting community. Her present owners acquired her in 1992 and have just completed a museum quality restoration, no expenses spared!

'EROS' comfortably accommodates up to eight guests in four double cabins. The usual toys are aboard for amusing oneself when at anchor: small boats suitable for sailing, paddling or skiing, snorkeling gear and dive boat, plasma TV, piano, hammocks - the list goes on!

When money is no object, the EROS crew can arrange for you to have the ultimate toy aboard - one of Graham Hawke's deep flight submersibles along with a qualified instructor.

The professional crew of five includes a very experienced Captain and gourmet chef. Guests can swing in a hammock sipping a tropical drink, swim to the beach, or take the helm and help hoist the sails if you wish.

Crew Profile

Captain: Jeremy King

Growing up sailing on the Hudson River in New York, Jeremy has cultivated a life long passion for the sea. Prior to joining Eros, Jeremy captained a Bermudian rigged schooner offering tours of the Narragansett Bay and a charter motor yacht based in Manhattan. With more than 5 years in the yachting industry Jeremy holds his 200 Ton USCG captain’s license and is a PADI Advanced Diver. Jeremy now calls Newport, RI his home port but feels equally at home in the blue waters of the Caribbean. Captain Jeremy will assure your time aboard Eros is safe, relaxing, and memorable for years to come.

Deckhand: John Billings-Clark

John is the deckhand onboard Eros. Growing up outside of Chicago John’s first passion was for film and cinematography. Taking a leave of absence from art school he cruised the Caribbean on a small catamaran and found his love for sailing. An accomplished Eagle Scout, John is always up for a challenge. His job is to keep the boat in ship shape and ensure smooth sailing for everyone on board. John is the person in charge of Eros’ many toys. Whether you wish to gunkhole on a paddleboard, kayak to shore, or use one of the towable tubes, wakeboards, and water skis, John will make sure everything is prepared for a fun, safe time.

First Mate/Engineer: Wilson Willkom

A native of the Philippines, Wilson’s work as a research technician in Biotech brought him to the US in 1999. He spent most of his free time climbing the Sierra Nevada Mountains and sailing on the San Francisco Bay. Wilson has sailed extensively in California, Mexico and the Caribbean as both crew member and skipper. He joined Eros in 2012 for a charter season in the Caribbean which included the voyage from San Francisco to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands via the Panama Canal. A consummate professional whose love for Eros matches his passion for sailing, Wilson takes great pride in her care and upkeep. Dedicated to pleasing guests and captain alike, he is beloved for his cheerful and welcoming disposition.

Chef: Ashley King

Ashley is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, and is the oldest of five girls. She has been a visual and culinary artist nearly all her life, often painting sailboats, dolphins, and island-scapes, as well as preparing creative & delicious meals for her family & friends. She began her career in high-end dining at age eighteen and, in the Spring of 2001, moved to St. John, USVI and began to sail.

Ashley has been a stewardess, deckhand, first-mate and chef on mono-hauls, catamarans, and motor yachts, from 40’ to 140’, from South America to New England. She has earned her USCG 50T Masters License as well as her 200hr Yoga Teaching Certification.

Her training in the craft of cuisine and the grace of entertaining comes from her years of cooking and service experience in fine-dining restaurants. American, French, Italian, Japanese, Hispanic, bistro, beach-front, steakhouse, you name it; she learned ingredients, preparations, presentation, portion, pairing, table-setting, and service etiquette. For several summers, she kept a large organic vegetable garden and is very much a “gardener-chef”; her plates are fresh, vibrant, creative and healthful.

Ashley’s years of experience exploring and sailing, combined with her passion for cooking and attention to detail, allows her to create exceptional experiences for her guests. She loves what she does and loves to share her passions with others.

Steward/Deckhand: Kelly Parker

Originally from North Carolina, Kelly has enjoyed living throughout the US, Caribbean, and Europe. Kelly’s eclectic background makes him a great fit for the Eros team. From yachting, hotels and restaurants, health and fitness, to carpentry and construction, Kelly is always eager to expand his skill set. Kelly is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist of over 20 years, a certified massage therapist and Kundalini Yoga teacher. Kelly is happy to provide a warm, friendly and professional atmosphere aboard Eros and is looking forward to serving you throughout your stay.

Testimonials

"My week on Eros during the Antigua regatta was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had. The combination of a beautiful boat, an amazing crew and great meals make for a wonderful vacation. The racing was fun too!"

-S.R., Hermosa Beach, CA (April 2017)

"I recently had the opportunity to go sailing on Eros with my son, some of my best buddies and their sons. What an experience! The boat is beautiful - everything it's advertised to be. We hit surfing and snorkeling spots you can't get to without a boat. We did some fishing, took many father/son kayak trips and just soaked up the amazing sun and waters of the BVIs. Simply put, a trip we will remember forever."

-B.D., San Gabriel, CA (2017)

"Excellent in every way. Loved the sailing. We wouldn’t change a thing."

-J.M., Denver, CO (2017)

“Our group of seven ladies absolutely loved every minute of our five days on board Eros; we are very grateful for the experience and look forward to returning with husbands and kids.”

-R.J., New York, NY (2017)

"We had an amazing time. Eros is a spectacular yacht, the crew was excellent, the USVI were beautiful and the weather was good too! The highlight of the trip was sail down passage between USVI & BVI. We also had great time with anchored activities: diving off transom/swimming around Eros; snorkeling with colorful reef fish, turtles and a sting ray; seeing spotted eagle rays jumping out of the water; enjoying delicious meals; “skurfing” (one son learned to water ski, the other learned to wake board); spending two afternoons on uncrowded beaches; etc. Great family time!”
