NUTMEG Crew Profile

GINETTE AND PAUL
What a fun story to share. A fellow Realtor who owned a RE/MAX franchise in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada had a dream of someday retiring from real estate and set sail for ports unknown. After 30+ years of a successful career in real estate, Paul and Ginette are living that dream everyday as professional charter yacht crew, and now they take the helm of the 2008 catamaran NUTMEG– accommodating up to 8 passengers, based in the British Virgin Islands.
What would cause a successful real estate family to sell everything and jump aboard their sailing sloop and head south. One of the conclusions was they wanted to reset their life course and create a balance they had not discovered in many years of owning their business. The experience they have had the last five years has far exceeded anything they could have dreamed about. When they decided to sail south from New Brunswick they never imagined that they would visit 51 islands, 17 countries and end up in Tobago in just one year. Paul was most concerned that his dream of the sailing life may not be fully embraced by Ginette. He should not have worried. She has embraced it even more than him.
Selling everything, being disconnected from “things”, never watching television, and enjoying the most beautiful sunsets imaginable each evening has changed both of their lives. Ginette says that it took about six months to have all of the “stress” of their previous life finally melted away. Now every relationship and every moment in nature has taken on new importance. They definitely have brought a French Canadian flair to NUTMEG – from the cuisine to the wines. They will even assist you with learning a little French during your charter with them if you want !
During the off-season Paul and Ginette travel back to Moncton, New Brunswick to spend time with their children and grandchildren.
Ginette and Paul will make you feel at home, while making sure your every need is attended to. They look forward to welcoming you and to making your holiday enjoyable to the fullest aboard NUTMEG.
NUTMEG Testimonials
From Guests aboard in April, 2009 -
Our family chartered the Nutmeg from March 21st thru March 28th of this year. From the moment we booked our charter we knew that the Nutmeg & the crew were a perfect match for our family.
Prior to our arrival, I had a phone conversation and exchanged a few e-mails with Elinor regarding my food allergies. Quite frankly, I think that I may have frightened her nearly to death with my first e-mail about the severity of my food allergies. However, Elinor and I were able to talk and work things out so that we were both comfortable with all of the food choices for our week on the Nutmeg.
We were greeted by Captain Sandy at the Marina Cay Hotel right before noon on March 21st, as promised and quickly boarded the boat. After only a few days on the Nutmeg, we felt as if we were sailing with two additional family members. Captain Sandy & Elinor's charm & hospitality were overwhelming. Our entire family truly enjoyed every minute of their company and every conversation. Our children (8 & 10) loved to help Elinor set the table every day for each meal.
I must say that Captain Sandy also had a great deal of patience with every sailing question that "The Moyer Boys" asked again and again. We all certainly learned a few things about sailing and the open ocean.
As the week went on, we discovered that Captain Sandy always found the perfect spot for us each day to hang out and relax. And, at the same time, he always checked in with us to make sure that we were comfortable & satisfied with each route and destination he chose.
As our fantastic vacation came to an end, we also realized that our time with Captain Sandy & Elinor was ending as well. As owners, you have truly been blessed with a wonderful, charming & caring crew. We wish you the best of luck with the Nutmeg and hope to visit again soon.
Paul and Ginette,
Thank you for an incredible trip. I know Tony & I will remember this trip forever. You are such wonderful hosts. The meals are incredible...Ginette you have a wonderful talent as a chef and your lovely laugh is so charming. Paul -- we are all so at ease because your captaining is excellent. Tony's 60th party was a dream come true for us. I hope we can sail with you again.
Fondly, Maria & Tony Vuoto
Paul and Ginette,
We're delighted to be on your maiden voyage on Nutmeg. Our birthday celebrating group had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed Ginette's wonderful creations. We never enjoyed healthy eating so much! Thanks for the great memories.

Dear "Captain Paul and Admiral Ginette",
There could be no better way to celebrate a special occasion than with you on the Nutmeg. We have felt luxuriated and so very well cared for in every way. The food and sailing have been beyond our wildest expectations. Thank you so much for a birthday that will be long remembered.
Fondly, Joan & Bob
Captain & Admiral,
What an amazing trip and we owe it to the crew who allowed us to relax and just have fun. The food was awesome! You are a fantastic team and because of the two of you we have been able to celebrate, "Tony-our birthday boy".
Teri & Joel Serowoky
P.S. Thank you for taking care of Joel and his booboo's.
May 2011
We hope your charter lived up to your expectations. We would love to know some of your impressions about your yachting vacation. Please answer the following questions and add any comments you may have.
1. Was the crew friendly and accommodating?
Paul and Ginette were both delightful. They went out of their way to meet our needs and make us feel at home. In hindsight, they had a real talent for being a special part of the trip without being central to the trip. If you have reservations about how two "strangers" in such a small area will impact your trip, you need not worry with these two.
2. Was the yacht comfortable and clean?
Extraordinarily clean - not what I think of when I think of a boat. Was also concerned about tight quarters for 4 couples, plus crew. Not a concern - I'm 6'3" and had all the room in the world.
3. Was the yacht well ventilated?
For the most part - without AC in May, it was a little warm. With the AC on, it was much better but we lost AC on one half of the boat for two nights. An isolated incident so hardly anything to consider.
4. Was the food good and well presented?
Wonderful and a great variety. Each meal was looked forward to buy our entire party and nver were we disappointed. Ginette was wonderful and the dinner ambience was perfect.
5. Did you like the area you sailed?
Absolutely - and I feel like if we didn't, we could have directed Paul elsewhere and he would have accomodated and rationally explained why another plan might be better. He was well prepared and we didn't have to think too much about where we were going - and were never disappointed when we got there.
6. Could we at Virgin Island Sailing, Ltd. have helped you further in any way?
Great process eliminated most questions - where there were some, VI Sailing (Ellen and Mallorie) was very prompt with their response.
7. May we post this review on our website?
Yes
8. Additional comments on your charter?
If you're considering a charter sail boat for your vacation, by all means do it. If you're considering the Nutmeg, by all means, charter them!
