About PENELOPE

Operating in the Caribbean and the West Mediterranean

Penelope is a performance orientated hull shape from Dubois, powered by a sport rig, carbon spars and North Sails Spectra Carbon sails, achieves outstanding performance even in the lightest of winds. In-boom furling transforms the raising, setting and lowering of the main to a single lever operation at the helm station. All on deck features are designed to put the true sailing enthusiast in full command of this stunning Oyster 100 by Dubois, whilst also enjoying the thrill of helming such a fast and responsive yacht.
Penelope offers a class-leading amount of usable living space. Stepping on board for the first time you are immediately struck by the spacious, flush deck and overwhelmed by the incredible amount of interior volume. The accommodation layout offers three staterooms located aft of the saloon. The master cabin with king sized bed and a private en-suite shower and head. The two family/guest staterooms have two large single beds, which are fitted on slide rails which can be pushed together to form a large double bed. A third fold down bed is also available. Each with a private head and shower. A raised saloon offers a panoramic view and leads forward and down to a more intimate lounge and separate dining area. Forward of the main living area is the crew galley and two crew cabins.

Crew Profile

CAPTAIN: Robert Lloyd was introduced to sailing from the age of 5. Beginning as so many do, on the optimists, before progressing to pico and lasers at Hawley Lake Training centre. Sailing continued as a hobby at school which involved inter school regattas on occasion.

This hobby turned professional in 2007 when Robert completed two successful flotilla seasons in the Greek Ionian. Liking the idea of a hobby being worked as a means of employment, He turned his attention to bigger yachts whilst travelling NZ.

Robert began his yachting career on an Oyster 82' as a mate and quickly learnt what it would take in this line of work. Following this he spent four exciting and adventurous years on board a 175' modern classic, where he cruised the Pacific, Chilean fjords, Southern Ocean, Mediterranean, Caribbean and North America. The opportunity arose to complete his Chief Mates ticket and assume the role of 1st Officer, and more recently he acquired his Master 500.

CHEF: Courtney is from the small rural town of Marton, New Zealand. Growing up on the water back home Courtney combined her love of this and her inner adventurer and took to Europe in search of work on yachts early 2012. 5 years down the line she has worked in the interiors of both sail and motor yachts of various sizes. Beginning her yacht career as a stewardess, Courtney then found it an obvious choice to transition into the galley full time after attending The Grange Cookery School in Somerset, England. Being brought up in a family owned bar and restaurant she has always grown up around the heat and hype of a busy kitchen.

She too, like Robert, has been fortunate enough to visit some amazing destinations off the beaten track. Courtney loves immersing herself into new environments and cultures and especially thrives on sampling new flavours and cuisines to incorporate these in her dishes. Outside the galley Courtney is a keen diver, she enjoys a good hit on the tennis court and loves to entertain friends and family with delicious home cooked food.

Robert and Courtney have been working together for over three years and look forward to using their combined experience into providing a wonderful time for guests on board Penelope.
