RELENTLESS Crew Profile
Michael Mullen - Captain
Longtime captain for the Hollywood celebrity, Merv Griffin, Mike has been in every corner of the globe that navigation allows. During his time running a trio of yachts belonging to Merv Griffin, he spent time cruising on both US and Canadian East and West coasts, as well as most Mediterranean, European and Middle Eastern ports. Prior to that he sailed a 174’ yacht across the Pacific and worked in Malaysia and Singapore, traveling extensively in the South Pacific.
His maritime career began as a lobster fisherman in Scotland. He then went on to work on oil rigs and oil rig supply boats all over the world, quickly working his way up to become the youngest captain in the Zapata fleet.
He has been captaining and working on yachts up to 300 feet for the past 20 years and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and seamanship to his position on Relentless. Nowadays most of his time is spent in the Bahamas and the Caribbean, where he puts his experience to great advantage in finding the best anchorages and harbors for his charter guests.
James Kirby - First Mate
James is from Cambridgeshire in England and became an inveterate traveller soon after completing his college diploma. He has worked as a Summer camp counselor in the Catskill mountains in upstate New York, and taught children in Norway, Argentina and Ecuador on Volunteer programs. James has explored much of South and Central America and enjoys exposure to other cultures. Realizing he could combine his love of travel with a career, for the last few years he has steadily increased his skills aboard motor yachts from 140 to 200 feet, cruising the Mediterranean, North Sea, Atlantic and Caribbean.
James is outgoing and enjoys a wide variety of hobbies - water sports including surfing, spear fishing and stand up Paddle boarding, Photography, Food and Wine, languages, soccer, Rugby, Reading and generally keeping fit.
Timothy Lock - Chef
Tim’s home town of Brixham, England is a picturesque fishing port, but he decided early on that cooking was his passion, and began studying catering straight from school.
Once he graduated, he began working for the Britannia Royal Naval College, where he became a personal chef for the commodore and his family for ten years. He cooked for large parties that often included members of the Royal Family. He also spent three years in France cooking on luxury barges that cruised from Paris through the French Waterways in summer, and winters in the French Alps as a chef and concierge of a large private Chalet.
The opportunity to see more of the world persuaded Tim to try yachting and experience cooking with interesting ingredients in a variety of cultural settings. Tim has worked on a variety of yachts, and he has been aboard Relentless on a rotational basis since 2007 and our full time permanent chef since 2010. His hobbies include fly-fishing, general health and fitness, and watching his favorite rugby and soccer teams play.
Caroline Craig - Chief Stewardess
Caroline was born in Auckland, New Zealand, though she spent a large part of her early life in Sydney, Australia. She completed a double Bachelor of both Arts and Commerce; in Ancient History and Marketing respectively. Upon completion, the world beckoned, and, working onboard a yacht seemed a perfect opportunity to try something new and satisfy her desire to travel. In her spare time she enjoys playing tennis, paddle boarding and diving, is passionate about travel and history.
She has gained valuable experience and enjoyed working on some very prestigious yachts, such as The World is not Enough, IDynasty, Il Cigno, Victory V and Lady Christina, cruising extensively in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, USA, and Central America. You will find that she extends the warmest welcome and offer the highest level of comfort and service to our guests on board.
Gorana Albrecht – Stewardess
Gorana, or “Goga” for short, was born in Croatia where she graduated from college in Hospitality and Tourism. In 2004 she tired of watching the yachts pull in and out of her home port and decided to join them by becoming a Stewardess. She has visited the normal yachting ports in the Caribbean and Mediterranean, as well as the Red Sea. Her hobbies are reading, walking and exploring new places.
Anton Marais – Deckhand
Anton was born in Durban, and raised in Stellenbosch, South Africa. He studied Hotel Management after school and proceeded to work in various resorts around South Africa and the world. During that time he heard about the yachting industry and has never looked back! Now it’s “full steam ahead”. His goal is to gain as much experience as possible within this industry and advance his yachting career. While he is “learning the ropes”, his positive attitude, helpful nature and strong back make him a pleasure to have on board.
He loves the outdoors, and is always searching for the next place to explore. He enjoys people very much and loves to mix with different cultures. A few of his hobbies include music, classic automobiles, and most general fitness activities.
Christopher Ash - Engineer
Chris was born in Devon, England. He started his sea going career in the British Merchant Navy, where he qualified as a Marine Engineer. For the last eight years he has been employed on yachts. He has worked in various locations and enjoys his travels and working life onboard. He enjoys fishing and diving in his spare time. Rarely sighted on deck, he takes a lot of pride in his engine room and welcomes visits from interested guests.
Chase Cunningham - Deckhand
Like Anton, Chase also hails from South Africa and grew up in Durban. He loves fishing, surfing and diving, and plans on making the yachting industry his career. Chase is excited to enter his second season on board and adds additional value by being our star Card dealer and is always willing to turn a card for poker or blackjack on our “Casino Nights”. Chase is the youngest member of our crew but has a mature head upon his shoulders, and with his desire and drive to succeed and help out wherever he can, he is a good addition to have around !
