SEA OF LOVE Crew Profile
Captain Joe Cazana has been sailing for the past 35 years. He learned to sail in 1975 after not being able to sail back the rental hobie cat and then the next day capsizing the same.rental cat in the channel off Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. He thought lessons might be a good idea.
Soon after the lessons he began bareboat-chartering in the BVI. Much like most bare boaters we see today, he didn’t have all that much experience. However he was a quick learner, he always brought the boat back and never capsized again.
In 1985 he began diving in the BVI recognizing the beauty of this whole new world opening up underwater. He traveled all around the Caribbean exploring its beauty.
So year after year of sailing he perfected his ability growing upon a wealth of experience. He began doing deliveries from NY to the BVI and back and does them to this day.
In 1992 inspired by his success he felt it would be nice to share this great sport with others and became certified by the ASA (American Sailing Association). He taught sailing on the Hudson River n NYC and also in Long Island Sound off City Island.
In 1994 he again, impressed with his abilities thought to get his Captain’s license as it would enable him to share his better boating experiences with others by sailing a boat for them as in being a charter boat captain in the BVI.
Well time went by as the wife was not ready to move south. Capt Joe in his on gong spirit to contribute to the sailing community joined in 1999 the NYPD Harbor Auxiliary and patrolled the NYC waterways, watching for boaters in distress. In 2002 Capt Joe moved his services to the Coast Guard Auxiliary as he was more interested in boaters in distress than catching that occasional bad apple in NYC.
Recently Capt Joe, hearing a call for help from Reef Check BVI, brought along his diving experience and answered with the same desire to contribute and protect those very reefs that brought so much pleasure to him and the people he entertained in the BVI.
Carol began sailing in 1995 with several sailing clubs in the NYC area. As her passion for sailing grew, she bought her first sailboat a 1982 Dufour 35 ft monohull. along with her husband Capt. Joe Cazana. Together they sailed around the NY area, in the Hudson River and Long Island Sound. In 2006 she bought her 2nd boat, a 44 ft Lagoon catamaran for charter sailing in the BVI. Carol with a flair for cooking has augmented her talents with many courses at the Culinary Institute of NYC.

To say we had a fantastic time is an understatement. Capt Joe knew his way around the islands like a true seaman. Great Ports, great activities, great time!! The whole family had a special life experience. We snorkeled, scuba dived, paddle boarded, kayaked and hung out at the beaches. A superb mix of activity and relaxation. DO NOT hesitate to come to the BVI and have Capt. Joe take you!

Great dream trip. The islands are as close to perfect as you can get. There was a lot for our family to do; I was never bored. I can’t wait to brag to my friends about the scuba, snorkeling, paddle boarding, etc. The boat was a great size and I was comfortable the whole time. Awesome trip!

Family – 3/17/2012 – Capt only
Sea Of Love is a beautiful boat that is obviously taken care of. The Lagoon 440 was immaculately up kept and has many amenities that you will not find on other charter boats. The solar panels along the stern provided a peaceful atmosphere as there was no need for generator noise to keep the batteries charged. Captain Joe has a passion for this vessel and the BVI that made it a pleasure to travel with him and his knowledge of the BVI and the well known as well as the little known attractions allowed for a very enjoyable trip. This was by far one of the best trips to the BVI over the years. Kudos to Capt Joe and Sea Of Love for making our family trip the best it could be. Thank you again.

Great trip, better than not hiring a skipper. Came here without an idea of what to do, but Joe was incredibly helpful. His sailing was uite skilled and we never experienced any problems (except for some lumpy seas, but that was nature’s fault). We always arrived on time. Joe is very sociable and is great to be with. The boat is filled with amenities and makes a long stay at sea comfortable. I would recommend Joe to anyone who is looking for a good time in the BVI.

Sailing with Capt Joe was super enjoyable. Having had a cat in the BVI for quite a few years and having always skippered it ourselves, I wasn’t sure how it would go. But, Joe was extremely welcoming and very adept with the entire family from the two 13 yr old boys to the college kids to us, the parents. Thoroughly enjoyed his participation with the entire family whether it was his poker playing or his participation in and adding to conversations. His suggestions for how to meet the needs of everyone were right on. Oh, and the boat was beautiful! This was a blended fmily trip with sailors and newbies alike. We had hoped for an unforgettable bonding and fun experience and I believe ewe got more than what we bargained for

The Sea Of Love Experience: Our family had a fabulous week with Capt joe on the Sea Of Love. First, the boat. A very comfortable 44ft cat. All four cabins made our family of 7 very comfortable. The galley was easy to manage, the stern family area was great for dining or just playing games and the bow was great for relaxing or sunning on the tramp. The fact that Sea Of Love has solar panels for power regeneration was nice…no engine noise to recharge the batteries and the panels look cool too!
Capt. Joe was a great Capt. Some of us are sailors ourselves, but were happy to have Joe at the helm. During “downtime” he was fun! Although very laid back, you have to watch out for his sneaky sense of humor.
ALL FUN! We will return
Bob Dallas, TX
Thank you for such a fun trip. It was the first of a kind for me so I don’t know what else to say but it was fun! Captain got us where we needed to go and kept us entertained very well. If it weren’t for him I’m sure the trip would have been much more stressful. From playing cards with us to telling jokes, he was fun to be around and helpful and encouraging to talk to.

Perfect weather! First time to BVI, was so happy to discover you can always find a spot to snorkel, no matter where you moor. Most relaxing vacation of my life. Fond memories 1) beautiful spotted stingray just when I least expected it, 2) Rainbows with your morning coffee, 3) sunsets perfectly positioned for your viewing pleasure
Thanks Capt Joe

Great sailing! First timer and BVI were awesome. Capt Joe included me in the sailing effort and I learned the basics of sailing. Our sail through a rain drenched squall was the most exhilarating moment. Each day’s mooring was better than the last – love the sunsets! Our stop at the Bubbly Pool on Jost Van Dyke was a special treat.
All the best to Captain Joe

Carol is a terrific hostess. Treated us like royalty attending to each of us individually as well as the whole group. Her meals were well thought out and beautifully presented. She also had everything on the yacht we had asked for in advance. Her role was outstanding. 100% score!!!
