ENCORE Crew Profile

Captain Roy Hodges

Roy grew up on Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, working at Green Turtle Bay Marina and Houseboat Rentals from the age of 13.  He had acquired enough sea time to get his Captain’s License at 19 years old and has been moving upward in yachting ever since.  He is very talented in maneuvering all types of vessels and has hands-on engineering experience.  He made a name for himself in the charter industry by winning “Best In Show” at the St. Maarten MYBA Charter Yacht Exhibition.  Roy has spent the last 17 years cruising the Bahamas and Caribbean and his love for the area will help make your trip a most memorable one!

Purser Stephanie Hodges

Stephanie has been working aboard yachts for fourteen years and has known her husband Capt. Roy for twenty two.  Traveling aboard together has allowed them to become extremely familiar with the Bahamas and Caribbean.  She has experience in the galley, interior and on deck.  Stephanie can make many great local recommendations and has many contacts throughout the islands.  She will help coordinate all aspects of your charter and is always at hand if you have questions or need anything.  She has held a USCG license for eight years and enjoys fashion, fishing and shooting skeet.

First Mate Kyle Holmes

Kyle hails from the west coast in California, he has a deep passion for surfing, fishing, diving and just being near the ocean. He knew he wanted to be a mariner at a young age and pursued his career in yachting by first going to the California Maritime Academy. Kyle has experience with many water sports and was previously a wakeboard/water-ski and sailing instructor. Kyle is always willing to lend a helping hand and considers your safety and enjoyment paramount.

Chief Stewardess Vicky Whitehouse

Vicky grew up in Johannesburg South Africa and has always had a fun and welcoming look on life’s wonders. Traveling since she was 19, Vicky discovered her passion for the water. She is an avid Diver and passionate about yachting, her great nature and eagerness is always available to provide you with world-class service to ensure you have a unforgettable trip. Vicky’s enthusiasm to explore the world gives her the opportunity to share her passion for the ocean and the many wonders it has to offer.

Chef Jean-Paul Barcena

I come from a deep family history of home cooking. I have had a love for food from early childhood, appreciating the tender flake of a biscuit to the sweet burst of a cherry tomato picked right off of the vine. I learned to cook from my mother in my early years and that sparked an interest that I never knew until later in life and would soon turn into a life-long passion of preparing exquisite meals for others. Having over 25 years’ experience I have opened over 75 restaurants and consulted for some of the most exclusive restaurant groups globally from California all the way to the Middle East and have cooked professionally aboard yachts for many years.

Stewardess Candice Goldstone

I was born in Durban, and spent my childhood years in the small surfing town of Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa. Growing up in the boating industry, I found my love for the ocean at an early age. With my eagerness to broaden my experiences and travel, I spent a year working and traveling across America after school. I continued onto doing an Atlantic Crossing delivery, discovering my passion for the yachting industry. I enjoy snowboarding, diving and any outdoor activities.

Bosun Trevor Hulbert

Born and raised in the small mountain town of Grand Lake Colorado, Trevor worked at Highland Marina on Lake Granby for 11 years. This is where he fell in love with working on the water, and led him to join the yachting industry 2 years ago, and plans on continuing to climb in the industry for many years to come. Trevor grew up in the mountains, where he indulged in camping, snowboarding and water sports, which are all things he still enjoys and does in his free time.

Deckhand Morgan Thursfield

Morgan was born in Johannesburg and grew up in Durban, South Africa.  He enjoys travel, wakeboarding, fitness and wildlife.  He has a diesel engineering background, which makes him very handy to have onboard.  He loves the outdoors and surfing and comes from a close-knit family including his twin sister.  Morgan will work hard to give you the best trip possible.

Engineer Jerome Mosetic

I spent my youth in a small town in the Garden Route of South Africa, when it came time to leave school I packed up and headed for the city of Cape Town and pursued my tertiary education in Mechanical Engineering. After that I headed over to Europe for a few years and then started working on board yachts. I thoroughly enjoy Marine Engineering and look forward to new challenges whilst ensuring guests are happy and have a great time on board M/Y Encore. I am also a lifetime surfer and serious photographer and enjoy doing this at my favourite locations around the world when I get the chance. I love the outdoors and also enjoy diving, hiking, fishing and camping.

Stewardess Jennifer Utyro

Raised in Central New Jersey, after completing high school I headed South to Florida for University.  After graduating from University in a degree in Hospitality Management I moved up to North Florida and pursued a job with a PGA tournament as a coordinator.  Within those years of working I discovered yachting and decided to make a career change.  I truly enjoy making memorable experiences for all guests on board whilst having a good time with my fellow crewmembers.  When taking a break from work I love to ski, practice yoga, and hike
