CREW PROFILE
SKIPPER: ALAN MEREDITH
Alan, an Englishman originally from the town of Bath, has been running cruise charters in the Mediterranean for many years now, and has been owner/skipper for over twenty. Although he has sailed Shibumi across the Atlantic a few times and spent some time cruising the Caribbean, most of Shibumi’s cruising is now done in the Eastern Mediterranean. Alan knows these waters extremely well, as you can imagine from his many years of experience, and is able take Shibumi into coves and bays that others may not be aware of. He has a great love of jazz and classical music, is an accomplished photographer with a permanent exhibition running in London - and with his wonderful sense of humour and raconteurs skills there is never a dull moment on board!
COOK: SUE MEREDITH
Sue left Yorkshire to live in Greece as a young woman, and took a position on a 90' sailing yacht as deckhand. It was there she learned the ropes (literally) and got bitten by the sailing bug. She has sailed on many yachts since then, in many places around the world, but the Mediterranean remains her favourite cruising ground. Having acquired a great love of all aspects of food and cuisine she decided to take the opportunity, when it arose some years ago, to cook professionally on yachts. This being a highly successful venture she soon gained a great reputation for her fine international onboard cuisine - and having married Alan has now been cook on Shibumi for the past ten years. Aside from sailing and cookery she also has a love of music and art and loves to put paint to canvas whenever she can.
