Crew Profile

Captain Cliff Asbel began his lifelong service to the marine industry while attending the University of Michigan and has dedicated his entire working career to the service of yachts.

His vast experience and success working in boat yards, as well as for boat builders, gave him the skills to open his own yacht service management company, Marinaman, LLC, utiliziing his expertise in yacht maintenance, operations and systems.

Cliff’s first offshore adventure was sailing his 27 foot C&C down the Mississippi to the Bahamas. He spent over 5 years in the Caribbean aboard his second boat, a 36’ Hinckley, providing day charters in ultra posh St. Barth’s to a most discriminating clientele. He has sailed the length of the Caribbean Island chain and crossed the Atlantic twice. Like most serious mariners, Cliff dreamed of exploring the vast Pacific Ocean and lived that dream for 6 years, transiting the Panama Canal, sailing to the Philippines and Tahiti and back to Seattle. In recent years, Cliff has skippered charter boats from Grenada to the British Virgin Islands. He has also skippered a Swan 44 in 4 Chicago Mac races.
Cliff has a RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence for a sailing vessel. The certificate is valid for use as a Master of yachts up to 200 gross tons on commercially and privately registered yachts. It is also valid for commercial use on vessels subject to the codes of practice issued by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

I have always known that I wanted to sail. All of my experiences have led me to this quest: To provide an exceptional charter sailing vacation with the best – and best equipped – yacht. I have dedicated this last year of my life to procuring and preparing Simple Harmony, a 68 foot Swan to deliver this exceptional experience. It has been a labor of love. The results?  Worth every minute.

First Mate, Cynthia Wummer was literally thrown into the world of sailing at the ripe age of four. Her first ride on a Sunfish was brief as her father thought the best way to approach fear was to face it.

So he flipped the Sunfish on her first ride at the Jersey Shore. To get her over the fear of the worst, he made her right it by herself. In spite of this unique form of training, she took to sailing right away. By the age of 10, she was a private sailing instructor using both her Sunfish and Force 5.

Cynthia jumped up to the big boats soon after she arrived in Florida in 1990. She joined the local sailing clubs and before long was skippering many local PHRF sailboats in Ft Lauderdale and Miami.

Cynthia was heavy into the local race circuit for 20 years. Cynthia is very familiar with the Swan builds. She is primary jib trimmer on a Swan 53 in the BVI, where she has participated in 10 BVI Spring Regattas. Other racing: Seven Fort Lauderdale to Key West races, Miami to Jamaica, and about a dozen out-of-state long distance races.

Cynthia’s passion for sailing carried into the professional world with SAIL Magazine for over 10 years. Cynthia now covers the ad sales for ALL AT SEA Caribbean Magazine.

In the last 5 years, Cynthia decided to explore the cruising world a bit more. When she recently became an Empty-Nester, she bought a C&C 35 cruiser which she keeps in her home base in Florida.

Cynthia is always upbeat, cheerful and naturally provides a pleasant experience for all. You will enjoy her racing and sailing stories as she has encountered some very challenging and hilarious situations at sea and on the race course.

She makes her charter guests feel right at home at sea or at the dock.
