After graduation, he attended New England Maritime and was accredited with his USCG 100 ton Masters, and became Scuba certified. Some of his earliest nautical working experiences were on boats in the Caribbean islands and the greater Boston Harbor areas. For the past 7 years, he has run his own yacht management business, performing deliveries and dive services to numerous private yacht owners. Most recently, Jon captained a 57 foot sailing catamaran in the Caribbean, and also ran a 60 foot wooden motor yacht while home for the off season in New England. Jon can’t wait to Captain in the Caribbean full-time once again!

Kaitlyn grew up in Kennebunkport, Maine. She also developed a love for the ocean at a very early age. Kait and her family spent most of their summers sailing along the coast of Maine. There, she played lacrosse all four years and was named an all-American in her junior and senior years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2007. Immediately following graduation, she moved on to Denver, Colorado where she spent the next six years working in high end restaurants and nannying for several families in the Denver area. This is where her love for cooking really began! In the spring of 2013, she decided to move back to Maine where she would go on to meet the man of her dreams! Kait has been Captain Jon’s 1st mate and Chef aboard many of his deliveries and private charters in the Caribbean. Most recently, she was the chef aboard a 57 foot sailing catamaran in the Caribbean, and is ready to get back on a charter yacht this season! Feedback from the broker : « I have just had a short text from one of the guests on the SPLIT SECOND charter.  She said that the crew are fabulous, the food fantastic and that they are having a wonderful time.  Thanks again for all of your assistance.  This wasn’t an easy one as there were so many players involved ».

Charter 5-12 February 2015 - BVI's

‘’The Crew of Split Second are first class: ever watchful of their passengers safety and enjoyment. The skipper Ryan is an experienced sailor, ably supported by Jason. Veronika commands the galley, producing delicious and tasteful food of the best quality.
The crew are attentive and delightful, doing everything possible to ensure their guests are having an entertaining and relaxing holiday on on Split Second, which is a very well appointed and comfortable craft.
For an adventurous cruise through the B V I, it would be hard to better. We would do it all again.’’

Charter (December 2014 ) - Charter in tandem - BVI's

"Hi Veronika, Ryan and Jason,

Still having trouble coming back to reality after the wonderful trip. When I describe the vacation, other than family, it’s been all about the service and luxury and attention of our crew — of course the Islands are beautiful, but it’s the Split Second and you three that I will remember more vividly.  There was always a drink offered.  The food was amazing (thank you Veronika).  Fresh coffee always ready when I got up.  Towels were handed to me as soon as I climbed out of the water.  There was always a hand to help me off/on the dinghy (thus making sure my camera didn’t end up at the bottom of the sea!).  The advice and insights about the places we passed and stopped were invaluable.  And your willingness to coordinate with the other crew was especially appreciated as it allowed our big family of 16 to better enjoy each other — and Ryan your ability to maneuver so close to the other boat that we could link together was impressive!

Wishing all three of you a wonderful 2015. Thank you for sharing your Christmas with all of us and making it so special".

Charter (June 2014)

We really enjoyed the charter. In the past we sailed the Virgin Islands - it was wonderful seeing Corsica and Sardinia

The crew were awesome - which made our experience even that much more enjoyable. We felt very much at home with them. They were very accommodating - always helpful. Their preparation for us and our journey showed - They were engaging and excited to show us more of Sardinia and Corsica.

Was the yacht clean, well maintained and comfortable for your group?
Absolutely. Being brand new it was quite amazing.

How would you describe the quality of meals served on board?
Superb! Veronica has it down - and Jason and Ryan were always there to assist. Meal time was wonderful. The food was fresh and prepared to our liking.
yes - looking at Split Second when they get to the BVIs
If so, would you like to charter with the same yacht and crew?
Yes - We all want to sail with Ryan, Veronica and Jason again.

Charter ( May 2014)

"We had a wonderful stay on Split Second. The crew was very attentive and friendly and what a skill of the captain and his assistant.  Split Second is very luxurious and offers great comfort. The guest rooms are modern and the beds are really good.
The great advantage of the catamaran is the large space the boat offers. Split Second is very stable during sailing and does not heel over, which we first realilized at sea. The speed during our sailing trip was easily up to 12 knots which is pretty fast for a yacht.  Ryan and Veronica thank you so much for a wonderful experience. Hopefully we will see you next year.
Robert
Great boat, very nice crew. We've had a wonderful time on Split Second with sunny weather, water sports and delicious food. The boat has lots of space. The children enjoyed jumping on the trampolines between the bows. The best place to be is on the expansive flybridge with a fantastic view during sailing and at anchor. We will definitely come back".

Charter (May 2014)

"The first week of May, we (4 adults and 2 children age 12) sailed along the Spanish south coast with Split Second.
We were lucky to join in on Split Second’s maiden voyage.
This ship is impressively spacious; we had a huge bedroom with private bathroom.
We received a warm welcome from the crew Ryan and Veronika, a perfect tandem.
She works miracles in the kitchen and is also a skilled deckhand.
Ryan is a reliable captain, we felt very save in his hands.
Even being below deck he spotted dolphins and swordfish for us: amazing!
The dinghy is more than a taxi to drop you of at the beach; our children had a wonderful time hanging behind it on a tube or ski’s.
This rock steady Super Cat offered us the holiday of our life!"
Harry and Maggie
