STOP THE PRESS Crew Profile
Captain Stefan Veraguas
Stefan is originally from Miami, Florida and comes naturally to boats and the sea. Stefan’s father was a sailboat builder by trade. His father believed in hard work and exposed Stefan to boats as soon as he could walk. Being put to work at a young age taught Stefan the importance of a good work ethic and helped form the person he is today. This exposure to boats, and growing up in South Florida, also helped form his love of the ocean. Today Stefan is able to combine what he loves doing and earn a living at it, what could be better? Stefan has worked aboard both sailing vessels and power vessels, charter and private, and has a broad range of experience to help maximize the wonderful time guests will have on board Stop The Press. Stefan’s areas of navigation include all of the Caribbean, Bahamas, Eastern seaboard of the U.S., and he has also spent some time in the Mediterranean. Stefan is a conscientious captain whose first priority is for your safety and of course mixes this in with as much fun as possible. Stefan looks forward to welcoming you on board Stop The Press for a fabulous yachting holiday.
First Mate Francois Korff
First Mate Francois grew up in a small town in South Africa in the North Western Province. My parents had a Bed and Breakfast that catered to International guests, and I had the ability to meet new people on a daily basis from all around the world. This exposure sparked a fire within Francois to travel and experience those countries one day. After completing school and saving for five years, Francois set out to find his dream job and travel the world. He fell into yachting and it has created the perfect balance. A job where he could meet new people, be exposed to new cultures, learn new languages and have the adrenalin rush of a sport as well. Francois loves to travel, see exotic places, go fishing or diving, wakeboarding, kite surfing, jetsking, enjoy nature and good food, and his job on board Stop The Press lets him do all of these combined. Francois looks forward to welcoming you on board Stop the Press for some of this adventure.
