CREW PROFILE John Spenlinhauer, Captain A genial host and knowledgeable guide as well as a professional captain, John Spenlinhauer looks forward to welcoming you aboard TIVOLI. John is a lifelong yachtsman, having first learned to sail as a boy on the waters surrounding Cape Cod. He went on to own a succession of classic sailboats, including a beautiful 71-foot wooden Sangermani yawl which he captained many times from Maine to the Caribbean and back. When the time came to plan for even more extended, long-distance cruising, he decided to have an oceangoing expedition motor yacht built. The luxurious and sea-kindly TIVOLI is the result of his determination to create a vessel that is ideal both for making offshore passages and for visiting the harbors of the world in complete comfort. John is not only a fully qualified captain – he holds a U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License – he also has exceptional experience in cruising the entire Caribbean, the Eastern and Western Mediterranean, and the U.S. East Coast.
