TRUE NORTH Crew Profile
Captain Thomas Kocher
Tommy has been on the water and boats from an early age. Originally from Pittsburg Pennsylvania, he grew up fishing and hunting throughout the state. His love for the water brought him to south Florida where he went to school for his first captains license at the age of 18.
For the past twelve years he has been chartering the waters of the New England coast thru the Bahamas down to the Caribbean. A true team player, not only does he navigate with excellence, but he helps do the dishes as well! Tommy's fun and adventurous attitude make him an all around key asset as the leader of his crew.
Chief Stew Melissa Wright
Melissa grew up at the shore in New Jersey. She has worked in the hospitality industry since she was 14. Melissa graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Not only does she provide excellent service but she has a brain too! After college she joined the yachting industry and has been making frozen drinks around the world for 12 years now. As well as keeping an immaculate yacht interior, she helps on deck and in the galley. Her upbeat and sparkling personality keeps the whole crew smiling.
Mate
Derek Beauchamp
Derek grew up in Harbour Island, Bahamas. For 26 years he has worked and fished on the water. Being a native from the Bahamas his love for the water came naturally. Before he could ride a bike he was slaying fish from small grouper to blue marlin. His true passion for fishing was known early in his life and recognized widely from his 780lb. Blue Marlin he caught off of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Not only can he catch dinner but he can cook it too! Derek always has a big smile on his face and helps out wherever is needed. Whether you want to fish or snorkel Derek will provide you with an amazing excursion.
Deck/Stew
Ryan Church
Growing up in Kennebunkport, Maine just about everything Ryan has done in his life has been around the ocean and boating. After graduating high school, Ryan ventured to south Florida where he attended Barry University in Miami. While at Barry, Ryan also worked as a water sports instructor at a youth ocean adventure camp on the beaches of Fort Lauderdale. Here he was able to share the love of the ocean and water sports with children from ages 4-16. Upon graduation with a bachelor’s degree from Barry University in 2006, he began his career in yachting where he found his niche. Since 2006, he has served as mate aboard various private and charter yachts exploring the waters of the Caribbean, Bahamas and the U.S. East coast. Ryan has a great deal of experience with all diving and water sports activities and equipment; his oceanic enthusiasm truly enhances any charter experience. He holds a PADI Advanced SCUBA certification, is Lifeguard, First aid and CPR certified.
