Captain, Bill Hawes
Bill has been in navigating the seas for many years and brings his knowledge and leadership to the helm of True North. Bill has years of sailing and motor yachting experience, enjoys being a team player and with this, he ensures a coordinated and professional crew. Bill is the son of Navy personnel and was provided a coast-to-coast upbringing from which he assumed an inherent love of the water. His love for sailing began at an early age and as the years have allowed, he has advanced through the various levels in the yachting industry. Bill holds a USA 1600 Ton Master's license, supplemented by a British MCA and Cayman Island compliance equivalency certificate. He has captained an impressive fleet of vessels, both sail and power, including Atlanta, Mustang, September Morn, Sacajawea and Martha Ann. He has covered extensive sea miles throughout the Caribbean, Mediterranean, South Pacific, Bahamas, New Zealand and the Galapagos Islands, east and west coasts of the U.S., as well as trans-Atlantic and Pacific voyages. Bill is also an avid free diver and windsurfer.
First Mate, Michael Meredith
Michael loves fishing and anything to do with water sports. At the age of 12 he got his first center console and has been hooked ever since! He joined True North a year ago and has gotten great reviews from charter guests for his enthusiasm, friendly and outgoing personality and his fishing skills. Michael works well with the rest of the crew as a team to ensure that guests have a terrific time on board true North. Michael recently acquired his USCG 100 ton Captains License. Michael feels lucky to be able to do what he loves everyday as a job; while travelling and visiting spots in the Bahamas and New England.
Chef, Steve Anderson
Since his early twenties, Chef Steve Anderson has been a Private Chef and owned restaurants. His passion for food still comes through in every meal; and his presentation will awe you from the moment you sit down until you savor your last bite. Steve grew up in Illinois and New Jersey. After High School, he earned a scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. In 1987, he graduated with the highest honors, earning the Richard T. Keating award. After graduation, Steve has spent many years cooking for families as a Private Chef and owning/operating restaurants. When he sold his last restaurant, he turned his focus back to the Private Chef industry, but instead of cooking on land, you will now find him cooking in the Galley on True North.
Chief Stewardess, Whitney Anderson
Whitney is a native of Birmingham, AL, but now calls Key West home with her husband, Chef Steve. She has worked in the yachting industry for over 5 years and enjoys entertaining guests and meeting new people. She has cruised the waters of New England, Florida, The Bahamas and the Caribbean. Whitney loves decorating tables and planning parties and events for guests. The interior of the boat is her forte, however, she holds a 100 Ton Captain's License ,so she enjoys operating the tender and being outside with guests as well.
