VIVA MAS Crew Profile
Captain – Blurge Brown
Born and raised in North West England, his first job after leaving college was instructing at an outdoor activities center in the National Park area of the Lake District. Here he taught many water and land based activities to children and adults alike. Always having the travel itch, Blurge headed for Australia and New Zealand, where he entered the yachting industry and found his instructing and people skills useful for an easy transition to yachts. After cruising the waters of the South Pacific, he arrived in US territories and has continued to travel extensively cover the east coast, Great Lakes, Bahamas and Caribbean. His goal is to make every trip on board as memorable as possible and send each guest home with a unique story to tell.
Mate Stephen Musso
Steve is originally from New Orleans Louisiana but grew up in Orlando Florida, fishing and surfing the space coast. After receiving a certification as a Marine Technician he worked in the central Florida area for the next ten years dealing with center console boats and cruisers of all makes and sizes. He then switched sides of the industry and got into yachting. In his spare time he still loves to surf and fish. His real passion is chasing Bonefish on the flats in the Bahamas with a fly rod, or trolling offshore for Wahoo or Blue Marlin. Steve is an expert tender driver and loves to take guests and their kids for excursions, be it tubing, snorkeling, fishing or just a cruise.
Chef Gabriel Hanlen
Gabriel hails from St. Louis Missouri and has a bachelor degree in Culinary Arts as well as Hotel and Restaurant management. Gabriel grew up assisting his family run butcher shop and catering company. Since 1996, after graduating college, he began working professionally in the yachting and expedition cruising industry. In that time he has successfully worked his way up as Garde Manger Chef, Pastry Chef, Sous Chef, Executive Chef, Food and Beverage Manager, and Hotel Manager. Visiting every continent and countless countries Gabriel has extensively studied the history, natural resources, geography, and of course; he has experienced and practiced first hand authentic regional cuisine that defines each given country. His goal is to take these personal culinary experiences and apply them in a way that makes his guests feel at home while taking them to places they've never been. Outside of the kitchen Gabe enjoys the outdoors whether it's golfing on any golf course that's within reach, hiking the nearest mountain top, or kayaking a good class 5 rapid. Good Music is also essential wherever he is.
Chief Stewardess Erika
Originally from upstate New York, Erika has been working on boats for numerous years. After graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology, Erika began her professional boating career working on traditionally rigged sailing vessels and tall ships. Since then she has continued on her career path by switching to work exclusively on yachts in order to prepare for her ultimate goal of becoming an Interior Yacht Designer. Hiking, knitting and playing guitar are just of few of the activities that she enjoys during her off time. Erika looks forward to welcoming you aboard M/Y Aquasition and making your stay both comfortable and exciting!
