CREW PROFILE

Relief Captain Stuart Shattuck, USA (October 1 - January 15, 2009)
Stuart holds a Class 4 MCA Master's to 3,000 ton and USCG 1600 ton Master's license.  He has logged over 350,000 miles incident free on motor and sailing vessels up to 174' in size. He was Captain on board Whisper from 2003 to 2006. Stuart enjoys teaching guests to sail and welcomes their participation.


Captain: Clive Youlton, British


Clive has been sailing professionally since 1981, prior to this he was in advertising and motor racing formula Ford cars in the U.K.  He has circumnavigated the world, is particular to sailing yachts mostly and has an extensive knowledge of the Caribbean, Mediterranean and New England sailing areas.  Clive's most recent charter command was Zingaro, 112' S&S.  He holds an MCA Yacht Master 3000 gt. license and is a certified scuba diver.  His hobbies include gold, staying fit, kite boarding, tennis, anything active.


Engineer: Paul Callalan, American


Paul Callanan grew up sailing dinghies from the age of 10 and has been on and around boats ever since then.  He holds a 3 year degree in Marine Technology from the New England Institute of Technology.  Paul has been working on board yachts professionally for 2 years based out of Newport RI.  He has a wealth of experience from working on Americas cup race boats to 180ft super yachts and therefore has a wide knowledge of many systems and different engines.


First Mate: June Tate, British


June has been sailing in England since the age of 11 on small catamarans. She now holds a 200 ton Yachtmaster Ocean license and has sailed over 30,000 miles throughout the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Caribbean and Pacific.   She previously ran her own watersports center in Spain where she taught children and adults to waterski and wakeboard and found this extremely rewarding and lots of fun.  June also loves to dive and has a PADI Rescue Diver qualification.   For the past 4.5 years she has worked on large private and charter sailing yachts..


Chef Chris Deighan, American
Chris Deighan has worked as a personal chef for the last 7 years, alternating between Mountain homes in Vail, Colorado and private & charter yachts in the Caribbean and the East Coast. Prior to that, Chris worked in restaurants in Chicago, Seattle, Birmingham, MI and Cologne, Germany. He has studied Thai cooking in Australia and Italian cooking in the South of France. He enjoys cooking for families and groups, as the challenge of variety is always exciting.



Stewardess: Dominique Tanton


Dominique has been working on motor and sailing yachts for four years and has covered the British Columbia to England and Maine to Caribbean areas.  She holds the STCW and Silver Service certificates.  She enjoys looking after the owner and guests and being part of the Whisper crew.
