CAPTAIN : Franck FEREY
Captain 200 UMS - STCW 95 - CGO medical 3 - PCMM
Frank has a wealth of experience in sailing the Seven Seas of the world for the past 18 years. Born in France, Franck is fluent in English and Spanish as in his native tongue. Co-skipper on Tokio and Mari Cha IV, he was second Captain on board Geronimo with Olivier de Kersauson when they broke the record of the round the world Jules Vernes Trophy in 2004. Steeped in the culture of racing sailing yachts, Franck is equally comfortable in command of sophisticated charter yachts and continued his career as Skipper of very popular charter yachts as Django Too, Rose of Jericho and the classic Tuiga, flagship of the Monaco Yacht Club. Now onboard Ipharra, he looks forward to sharing his extensive knowledge of the best anchorages and sailing grounds of the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. Franck is committed to safety and will enjoy to take you to a new thrilling experience on board Ipharra.
CHEF : Régis VAREY
Originally from Amboise, Loire valley, after learning the basics of the cooking trade in local restaurants, Regis moved to England in his early 20s where he enrolled in cooking college and then gained extensive experience in various high end restaurants, private clubs and hotels in London for several years. Back to France as a free-lance chef, he extended his skills in private villas on the Riviera and chalets in the Alps before discovering the yachting world 8 years ago working onboard big motor yachts as Encore, Angel Heart and Kogo. Since then, he is enjoying the travel opportunities while discovering new ingredients at local markets and picking up new ideas, happy to pleasure high standards guests with a fresh, creative and tasty cuisine.
FIRST MATE / Engineer : Jamie FIELD
Jamie has been 100 percent committed to the yachting industry for many years now and has sailed the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East covering over 45’000 nautical miles including two ocean crossings. Jamie’s background is in water sports instruction, being an achieved windsurfer and teaching windsurfing to children and adults on the west coast of Ireland for several seasons. Windsurfing turned into sailing and Jamie has been teaching the RYA Yacht-master Off-shore program at various places around Europe, as well as working as a professional yacht delivery captain, since 2009. Jamie’s obvious passion and enthusiasm for anything on the water, together with his calm and friendly personality, will ensure you have the maximum enjoyment from your stay aboard Ipharra.
HOSTESS / Deckhand : Katy McGILVRAY
Katy hails from Scotland. She has an enthusiastic, energetic and outgoing personality; with a love for sailing and sport, including field hockey which she played competitively for a number of years. She has been sailing for over 10 years, sailing and racing socially at the local yacht club; she has also crewed in races all over Scotland. She has worked over 5 years in very busy service industry businesses ensuring customer service at the highest level for bar and table service. With an Honours BA Degree in Sport and Active Lifestyles Promotion, Katy is also able to speak conversation level French. Always friendly and professional, Katy’s commitment to providing first class service and attention to detail will ensure your stay on Ipharra is one to remember.
HOSTESS / Stewardess : Hannah WALKER
Hannah was born in Oxford, England. A love for being active and adventurous led her to travel at a young age including a year trip visiting parts of South America, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand and Laos. During the winter seasons Hannah could usually be found working as a chalet host and teaching skiing in Val d’Isère, in the French Alps. With her passion for travelling and years of experience in service, she has found her new interest in the yachting industry. Her positive attitude, a keen interest in traveling and her motivation towards her work, has led her to Ipharra where she will make your trip one you will never forget.
